Blew out my right rear tire on the way to work this AM
It was too cold and windy on South-Bound I 85, so one of my salespeople pulls up and collects me in his van and takes me to my office (Good man!)
Come back with a jack and lug-wrench, removed my shredded tire and mounted the temp...............less than 2 miles down the road (doing less than 45 mph) it schreds too!
Thanks to my loving wife, who came to my 2nd rescue, the 85 GT will be at home tonight ;D
I'll post pictures of both tires this evening
Never a dull moment with our cars! ;D

Eww, sorry to hear that. Is the body ok? No cracks from slapping rubber?
I hate flat tires.

The ol' girl is fine and so is the Fiero .... oops, the other way around! ;D
Nope, none of the rubber came off of the original rim & tire and the spare seperated almost clean from its rim.
Car is at my office now and I'll be driving her home after work, but don't know what I'll do between then and our meeting tomorrow. Might just put an entire set of different wheels on it.

Everybody should check the pressure in their spare tires. It should be 50 lbs. If not, the tire will fail.
And Don, I'm glad yours didn't result in damage to people or car.

Thnx Pat, I'm glad too

Glad you're alright! Blow-outs can be really ugly.
And, you could've called me. I have a spare spare (donut) if you want it.
Might take you up on that, threw my spare spare away about 3 weeks ago

I'll be at Charlie's in the morning.
Are you coming to the meeting? Need a ride?

The troublemaker(s) that ruined my day today on I85

BTW: How about that wall-to-wall carpet in my garage?
Makes working during the winter months so much more fun! ;D

Was there any indication you punctured the main tire before it went south? The space saver was actually from a mid 90's Grand Am, so it should have been good. It had never been mounted onto a car. The Dunlop was only about 4 years old.

No evidence of a puncture, must have just been misfortune and freaky coincidence that both went within two miles

Nope. I can't make the meeting. I have to be in your area anyway so I'll leave it near the garage door. I don't know how old it is but it's never been on the highway.
BTW: If Fierofool brings them to the meeting, please bring back a 2012 decal for me.
Thanks
Sorry you can't make it. But yes, if "Jerry" ;D brings the decals, I'll pick one up for you.

Although, I'm not one to talk, that's never stopped me, so...
I'm thinkin' it might be time to go on a diet. Snicker, snicker.... JK!
When I had my '87 Fiero (in 88) I drove through a few-thousand roofing nails that literally fell from a truck right in front of me, and had the pleasure of purchasing 4 new Eagle GTs that day. Ouch!
Glad you didn't have an accident as a result!

LOL.
Thanks Pete.
But I vote for keeping the original rims & tires on it, as I don't want to put more money into the 85 GT, as I plan on selling it anyways.
I'd rather put the 18s on the Formula I eventually want to buy! ;D

Don,
You should see if you can trade that notchie for the formula on Pennocks with the 3800sc in it. I think he was asking like $2800.00 or something like that. Looks like it COULD be a sweet ride. Anyways, this forum seems pretty dead lately or is it me...? Peace

Gotta link for that Formula?
And actually, considering high participation at our last meeting, no it is certainly not dead here! ;D
\D
-
Well since you and I are the only ones posting all afternoon I would say that would pass for kinda dead.... Not bagging here but sure wish there was more activity on ALL fiero forums... Here is a link to that fiero...

Can't wait to get another fiero here so I can drive down and meet you guys again... peace

Oh, you meant MulletproofMonk's replica Formula. I knew about that one, but it's an automatic and also still need quite a bit of work.
Awesome paintjob though; that's the paintjob we'll be doing on the Phoenix, but silver flakes instead of gold flakes
