If you've followed the St. Patrick's Day Parade thread, you perhaps read about Don Hulse's car rolling over a stone wall and suffering some serious damage. It was suggested by other members that we might do an Overhaulin' to give a little back to Don. He's given so much to the rest of the club.
I spoke with Redraif (Shannon) about hosting the rebuild, since she'd offered her home in Hampton, near the Atlanta Race Track, for other Fiero group ventures. She was very happy to host us. I also spoke with Don about this. He said he has most all the parts to put the car back together. Working alone, it will take some time. As a group, we can possibly do it in just one day. Shannon, get your polish cloth out. He needs some decent tail lights.
He has a parts list that I will get from him. If anyone has anything they can contribute to his need list, it would be welcome. Maybe we could do it on March 3? As I work out details with Don H, Don K. and Shannon, we'll put it up on the forum.

get me an address and i will work around my plans to be there! Don has helped me out personally so its my turn to help him out :)

I think at one point or another, Don has helped out just about everyone in the club, either via "hands-on" or just by giving great advice, which he pulls from that deep well of Fiero-Knowledge, also known as his brain! ;D
I know already that I have a part or two that Don needs, so of course, Anne and I will be there.
And by the looks of it, just like the "Overhaulin' at Whodeanie's", we will be providing German cakes and coffee again. (Ooops, I just volunteered Anne for something again ;D )

I should be good for... whenever or where ever.

The target date is MARCH 3. Don is taking his car to the alignment shop tomorrow to see if there's any frame damage. If there's no frame damage, we will do the overhaulin'. If the frame is bent, he said he was going to find another frame and transfer everything over to it at a later time.
Shannon says she has enough room that we can be inside the garage if the weather is poor and a big enough driveway that we can be outside if it's good.

I can bring my 10' x 10' canopy and some fold-up canvas chairs.
FGTB

I planned on bringing the canopy that Ron Rizzi gave us, too. It can be closed in so wind or rain doesn't blow through. It would be good if everyone brought their own fold up chair, too.

I just spoke with Don, and the rear clip that was delivered to him is broken. He asked that we just hold off and do this at another time. We will have to find another rear clip and he still hasn't had time to get the car to an alignment shop to see if the frame is OK.
Aside from that, the weather forecast for Saturday is calling for thunderstorms.
For now, the Overhauliln' is in Delay Mode. Thanks everyone for being willing to help out. As soon as Don has everything available, we'll go at it again.

I have a spare notchie rear clip if he wants it

The Georgia Fiero Club S*W*A*T (Special Wisdom And Tools) Team shall remain on call for Brother Aerodonamic, ready to swoop in at a moment's notice! :D

Prolly resembles a Red Fender and Hood I know. LOL!
-
It doesn't matter what color the clip is. It has to be repainted to Jaguar Racing Green once it's installed.

BOL ... cracks me up ;D.

If none of the previously mentioned rear body clips work out, I might have a line on one. (It's red, unfortunately.)
Also probably have a set of tail lights.
-
Don knows that I have all the parts he needs if he wants them they are his.
just come by and pick them up.
D.

Thursday evening Kevin delivered a perfect rear clip to me. Even has the original basecoat/clearcoat paint job without any fade. No chips or cracks. I will deliver it to Don on Monday so he can have it ready to go on the St. Pats Day Cruise for BBQ.

WOW guess my computer was really bad the other night... I missed this thread entirely! :D Probably be doing some more cleaning up in the garage this weekend to be sure things are in shape for when we need to do this... Just needs a bit of organization... had everything swapped about when we had a builder over and he had to drive through the garage to get to the backyard...
-
Obviously, everything was fixed, but apparently not documented here.
-
Don pretty much put the car back together by himself, IIRC.
He may have had some help, here and there...
-
What a guy!

What a guy!
Three months before he passed, as sick as he was, he still had more energy than I do. It was difficult to "get him down". He was truly an inspiration.
-
Too bad I never got to meet him.
