Title: FRS radio recommendations???

I need to break down and buy a pair of FRS radios.  Bearing in mind, please, that I am literally 85% deaf in one ear, I need EXCELLENT CLARITY, or I will just get frustrated and toss it out the window. 

Would be great to have some with Tone (bass, treble) control to adjust for my hearing. Do they make them Bluetooth compatible so I could pipe it through my car stereo speakers?

Any recommendations on brands, models, features, where to purchase, etc.?

Cobra makes a model that allows an earbud to be plugged in. Found it on Ebay here (http://www.ebay.com/itm/390400173015#ht_5290wt_1270).

The units that Karin and I use are Southwestern Bell Freedom Phones.  We bought them about 6 years ago. They work great.  They have a place to plug in earphones and remote mike if you choose to use them.  They also have weather at a touch of a button.  We use one of them at the house when we are under storm warnings.  The weather channel is loud and clear unlike the weather radio we bought that you have to find a place in the house where it will recieve a decent signal.  The batteries are original and when we went on our first run with you guys the units had not been out of the drawer for a couple of years.  I thought we would have to replace the batteries but when I turned them on they both worked.  I charged them for a couple of hours berfore we went to meet you and they worked all day.  They must use a good brand of battery.  The model # on the units are GMRS 1902 BL.

The FRS radios he asked about are UHF/FM.  Pretty much line of sight.

Almost nobody uses CB/AM/SSB here.
Unfortunately, I don't have any FRS recommendations. At 60 MPH, on a twisty road, they pretty much all sound like kwrap.

I have talked to a few Americans on SSB, from 25 to 29.9 Mhz I have a Home made 3 element yagi with a SSB/AM/FM radio that can have up to 100 watts
The aerial has a gain of about 13db and a SWR of 1.2:1
I also have a UHF  radio with only 5 watts and all I get are idiots
I have a SSB radio that can go from 2.4 Mhz to 24.5 Mhz
