Title: Time-Saving Tips: Removal & Installation of Throttle Position Sensor ;- )
Post by: Fiero GTB on December 15, 2012, 10:07:49 pm
My Mera has been idling at 2800 RPMs, so Fiero Fool and I attempted to swap out a bad Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) this afternoon.

Step 1: Use Unofficial GM "TPS Removal Kit" illustrated in Photo 1.

Step 2: Conduct Tensile Shear Strength Failure Tests on both machine screws attaching TPS to Throttle Body.
           Results documented in Photo 2.

TIME: Steps 1 & 2:  4.78 hours

Step 3: Replace entire Throttle Body with TPS already attached.

TIME: 24.2 minutes

I just need to say that Fiero Fool has such a good sense of humor that I've never laughed so hard tearing up a car before.

The good news is, after several highway miles, the new TPS seems to have "re-booted" and the idle RPMs are back down much close to normal.

Stay turned, and be thankful that FieroFool and FGTB are willing to conduct these highly scientific trials to save YOU from such troubles in the future!

Just to let you know how easy this job went, you notice that Fiero GTB never quoted a single word I uttered.
