Instead of doing it on the same weekend as the parade, it was suggested we do it on March 3. The cruise will take us up to the Asheville, NC area for lunch, then return.
Travel time from the Galaxy Diner area is about 3 1/2 hours. Add in 30 minutes for a fuel stop and expect it to be 4 hours. Take 2 hours for lunch, then return. We should arrive sometime between 12 Noon and 1PM, returning about 3PM and arriving back in the area of the Diner about 7PM.
There are some details I can't disclose here, so if you're interested, send me an email or PM. We had 17 cars lined up for the parade. Let's see if we can do as good for this cruise.

When you exit to Georgia Hwy 20-Buford, you'll come around underneath the bridge, and there's a McDonald's on the left just past the first traffic light. We could meet there and pull out by 9AM.

I might suggest that you give a listen to WSB radio 750 AM. They are usually pretty good at reporting weekend construction goings-on.
There is also a web page, but I don't recall off the top of my head. WSB seems to be at least as accurate, if not more so.

There was NO construction on the north side of 285, today.
I might suggest that you give a listen to WSB radio 750 AM. They are usually pretty good at reporting weekend construction goings-on.
There is also a web page, but I don't recall off the top of my head. WSB seems to be at least as accurate, if not more so.
If you have a smart phone, download the Waze app (for both Iphone and Android) -- it's free. It alerts you to bad traffic situations.

I'm really going to miss being along on this one, especially for the chance to road test the brand-new sway bars just installed by AeroDonamic, and the new high-performance tires I just had put on all fours!
For those of you who don't know, 8 days ago, I came down with a very mild respiratory infection, that travelled from my chest up into my sinuses and inner ears.
Talk about a tiny little virus microbe kickin' a 225-pound guy's tail, MAN, did it whallop me!
Yesterday, I managed to get up and walk around a little bit for the first time in a week without getting totally sick to my stomach from vertigo.
Today (Saturday) I actually braved my first time driving... although the first thing I did was miss clipping a 3-ton cement column in our parking garage by about 1/6 the thickness of a fly's wing as I drove out.
I made it back from Target and Publix with no damage to the Saturn or any other cars, pedestrians, by-standers, fire plugs, etc. I tell ya, I was soaking wet with sweat and totally out of energy.
So, there isn't even any last-minute hope of my making the Cruise tomorrow... :'(
