My 86GT won't start and I'm getting a trouble code 12. I've already replaced the pickup coil, module, ignition coil, coil wire, and rotor button. Any ideals.

Code 12 means normal operation, no trouble. When you DON'T get a code 12, that's when you worry.

Ok, but my car won't start up and run.

Test for fuel and spark. Remove the intake snorkel, open the throttle and spray a shot of brake cleaner or starting fluid into the intake. If it fires, you have a fuel problem. If it doesn't, you have a spark problem. That will help narrow down what we need to look at.

I've already tried the starting fluid and it still doesn't start. But I'll try something else today after I get finished mowing. If my shoulders hold out. My phone belt clip broke so I can't carry my phone with me if I have problems.

Remove the distributor cap. A common problem is pinching the pigtail for the pickup coil to ignition module. It's the one that plugs into the back of the module on the inside of the distributor. Check to see if it got pinched and shorted by the distributor cap. If so, insulate the damaged wire, twist the connector so the wires wrap around one another, then reconnect it to the back of the ignition module.
Also check that the little carbon contact button is in the center of the distributor cap.
Next, look at the connectors inside the ends of the ignition module harnesses. They should be positioned equally from the end of the plug. Sometimes they hit the module pins and get pushed back enough that they don't make contact. At the same time, make sure the 2 harness ends are seated down on the coil.

I'll check that today. I have to sell my 85GT at a fair price and my 82 Chevy van, in order to get Medicare.

What you own has no effect on qualifying for Medicare. But if you're applying for Medicaid, then you can own nothing, and that would necessitate that all your property and money is in someone else's name.
