Well I finally got DSL. After not getting it for a year because several of their tech guys said it wouldn't work with ANY of my operating systems. It's great. Now I can't get windstream to correct my bill. I've been trying for a couple years, & they just keep getting worse. So, after an hour on the phone with them, I told to turn EVERYTHING off. So if you email me & don't get a reply, that's why.
I'm going to try to save up my money & get satelite access.

We deal with Windstream on nearly a daily basis, at work.
I have found that, for the most part, they can't find their butts with both hands and a flashlight. >:(
Sorry about that.

what operating system(s) are you using? just curious

I have Windstream aka/formerly Alltel DSL, but because their email program gives you a very limited capacity, I was losing messages. Their system drops messages in your all folders if they are more than a given number of days old or it rejects them because your inbox quickly reaches the alloted capacity. That's why I switched to G Mail, and haven't used my Windstream/Alltel email in a year or more.
I'm like Paul. I'm in the Alltel/Windstream service area, and they don't allow any other ISP providers into their area, unlike the greater Metro Atlanta area, where you have a wide choice of providers. They are allowed to operate a monopoly. The only way around it is like Paul says...Go Satellite. However, there is one drawback to that. Clouds will block out the signal. In times of severe weather, when my tv goes out, I switch to my computer to watch Doppler Radar and the various storm tracker programs. With Satellite internet, both go out at once. So I keep my Windstream/Alltel DSL for connection purposes.

Windoze 95, 98, ME, & 2000; Lycoris Linix, MAC os9.(?), & if I could get it to work Lindows.

98,ME, and OS 9 shouldn't be a problem. not sure about the others

I think it will work with any computer with a network card. There was no software to load that way. Guess I'll never find out.
It's obviously still working; don't know when they'll turn it off....

Woodworking is fun, but the damn stuff is hard to weld...

Interestingly enough, it's still working. So I'm still using it. Guess their service is just as bad when it comes to turning it off as it is to make it work right.... ::)
