I just saw a metric phillips left handed screw driver for sale for $12.95. What will they come up with next?

I pulled this 2001 3800 SC out today.

And Monday I'm going to istall this 1997 3800 SC back in the 2001.
-
Why? Because he wants to sell the car back to the dealership and they said they'd give him more with a stock engine. The engine I'm pulling out has 340hp where the one I'm putting back in only has 240hp.
I found out yesterday that the only 3800 SC's that you want to go in a Fiero is from 97 up and that you need the computer out of a 98 and up. They say you can't reprogram the 97 and down computers.
-
The one with 340hp is going into Derek's 88 Formula. That's going to be our first true 3800 SC swap into a Fiero and it's an automatic. I'm starting on it next week hopefully.
-
Do keep Us informed, I got to ride in a3800SC and it flew, I thought I wanted a 4.9 but now I'm not so sure!!
-
I had a friend who had Loyde Rascoe install a 3800SC in an 88GT with a manual. On his way through Atlanta, he stopped to let me drive it. I can say that I saw 90 in 3rd gear. With the 4T sereies trannies, you can expect to get mileage equal to what you're getting on your 2.8 at highway speeds. Some have even said they get better MPG. I've even read that many people are getting 30+ with 4.9's.
The very popular 4.9 V8 is getting scarce, especially for a good low mileage engine. The 3800's are still plentiful, and probably at a lower cost. Though it's just my personal choice, if I ever did an exotic transplant, it'd probably be a 3800 NA since they're much cheaper, less likely to have been abused, they produce as much or more HP than the 4.9, there are a few go-fast goodies out there, and they run on regular grade fuel.
-
Well we got a little more work done today. We being me a Julio.

Still like a few more things to hook up.
-
where's mine? 8)
-
Where were you at yesterday? You should have come up and picked one out. They're all gone now.
-
i got a 32 week pregnant wife, so travel distance is limited. plus she needs help chasing a 2yr old around
-
Argentina would have gotten an 11 from me.
-
Did you get any snow down there? Me and Julio went 4 wheeling in my 85 yesterday and had a pretty good time. When the roads turned completely white with snow he put his seatbelt on. We were running 55 and 60 mph when Glen called and said he was bring a car to the shop on a hook for a timing belt. So we turned around and went back to the shop. The 85 never did slide except when I pulled out from a stop and got on it a little. Now if we were in the 86 GT, we would have been running 5 and 10 mph.
-
Hey, Derek and John are coming down to the shop today incase anybody wants to ask them some more questions about the 3800 SC swaps. John is the one that's retuning the engines computer to run at peak performance in the Fiero's.
-
We got some really smart Weathermen up here. I just ate a whole can of Pinto Beans, and now their predicting strong winds for tomorrow.
-
I'll be in Cumming Georgia tomorrow if anybody would like to get together. I should be there around 12 or 1. Give me a call if you want to meet up. I'll have a tow dolly behind the truck with an 87 GT on it, so where ever we meet lets make it someplace easy to get in and out of. 423---506---0594
-
Wish I could make it, but I'll be in church about that time. Hope you don't hit bad weather on the way back. If you do, STAY OFF THAT MOUNTAIN!
-
I thought the bad weather was suppose to stay north of Chattanooga? Their only calling for 1 inch in Knoxville.
-
Todays trip has been cancelled until next Saturday. My heating unit has gone out and I've got to get it fixed today.
-
I got 1 slightly used 87 SE convertible.

And I'm building a Fiero trailer.
-
Charlie next time your up this way I have a borrowed shop manual with the wiring diagrams and trouble shooting for the upshift light. You need to check it out. And somebody called me from the Pontiac Dealership thats closing up here and is giving me the Fiero shop manuals 1984, 1987, and 1988.
-
Yeah, might have to make a trip up that way soon. Didn't you say you had a saddle tan seat cover set for 1 side?
Looking at that 'vert, hope you pulled the dash & door panels. Maybe even the doors and ground effects? Mirrors, and other goodies?
-
On the convertable, I left everything on the car. It's at Julio's covered up until I need something. I'll check the seat skins and see what I've got.
-
When's the last time you laughed until you cried? Well it's that time again. Turn up your volumn and watch this.

I'm rebuilding an 88 2.8. I started rebuilding it yesterday morning and sold it last night along with an automatic transmission. I should be able to build a few more if anybody would be interested in buying them. I've also got a 2.5 to build and sell if anybody would want to buy it. I'll post them in the for sale section when I get them ready. I figured while business was a little slow I'd build some 2.5's and 2.8's and sell them cheap.
And Charlie I rechecked the crank after I polished it and it showed bad so I replaced it.
-
I've just about got the 2.8 built.

Look what I found on my car this morning.

Dang birds
-
Must have been on their way to Florida (Snow Birds)
-
I'm installing the 2.8 I rebuilt into the 85 SE I bought in Erwin. It's black with all the options and an almost perfect interior. Just needs paint.

-
Almost finished with it....
-
I got it running today and it has great oil pressure. I only let it run for about 30 seconds because there's a leaking hose next to the radiator that needs to be replaced along with the slave cylinder, then it'll be ready to drive. The valves sounded good but the tach will have to be replaced. As soon as I get it done I've got it traded for an 86 SE V6 automatic with a 3.1 "stroker". Yea that's what I thought, I didn't know they made a 3.1 stroker, but I'm getting plenty of boot. ;D
-
I got an 88 2.5 5 speed Saturday. It runs geat and shifts great, but that's about all thats great about it. I'm going to have to do alot of work on it to get it ready to sell.
-
I started getting the 86SE ready to paint today, and sent a picture to a friend who wants to buy it but doesn't want me to paint it.
-
The 85SE with the 88 2.8 has 45 psi oil pressure at 220 degrees temp at idle. The fan runs with or without the a/c, the windows work, working on the headlight motors today and the power mirrors, got the tach fixed and the temp gauge and the slave replaced.
-
Where is everybody? Everybody must be at the one day JC Penny sale. ;D
-
We're at the swap meet!
-
Yes We are!!!! Where are You???? ???
-
I'm at home fixing to get in my comfortable bed. But I will be there tomorrow. I rescheduled the 2 trucks I had to work on tomorrow to Monday.
-
Come on Rob, tell these guys why I am buying your 86! Lol! Heck, I need more Fiero's, anyway. Johnnie said I had to stop at 10, as long as they all run and have ac! Lol
After I buy your 86, I want to buy your 84 and paint it the same color!
Everyone is probably saying, "who the heck is this posting!" I am from Etowah, Tenn., where we don't wear shoes and we carry a shot gun! Lol
-
I gave $300 for this car and replaced the interior and the engine with a rebuilt 2.8. It's a 4 speed with power mirrors, windows, and locks.

I just sold another Fiero. I sold an 88 SE. Yes I know, they didn't make an 88 SE, but I'm going to. I haven't built the car yet but it'll be an 88 chassis with a 3800SC automatic with GT ground effects and front and rear fascia's. But it'll be a notchie. It'll be painted black with gold ground effects and moulding and the beige interior. It'll have gold GT wheels and lower quarter scoops with the screens painted gold.
Right now the car is an 88 2.5 5 speed.
-
Sold the 1950 Buick Roadmaster but it won't be out of the shop until the end of next week. But with it gone I should have some more needed room. Then Dereks will be gone next weekend and the gold V8 will be moved outside and I'll move Will's where it use to be and drop the cradle and move Rick's over so he'll have plenty of room to work on his. Then I can start the transformation of Will's 88 coupe to a fastback GT with a 3800SC automatic. Then there's Chad's 86 SE thats going to be transformed to a GT with a 3800SC. Then maybe I can get a 3800SC installed in my 84.
-
Dewey, you still out there somewhere?
-
hey rob, still here just haven't had anything to say, maybe it's all this rainy weather. i've got my 85 running again, just keep reading threads on pennocks and replaced a couple of burned out fuses i missed. put in a new distributor and set the timing both which i've never done but it seems to run all right. i have'nt driven it yet i've got the rear bumper and the tail lights off. i think i'm losing some of my enthusiasm. just not enough fiero people close around to interact with on a daily or semi-daily basis. still like the cars though. oldone in c'ville
-
Charlie, I jacked your car up today and put it on stands. Then I rolled under it and it looks like it's going to be a pretty simple job. I checked the a/c compressor and it's locked up. I rolled out from under the car and pulled a vacuum on the a/c system of my 85 GT and replaced the orfice tube and gased it back up. But I'm getting closer on your car, at least it's in the air. ;D
-
Charlie your cars finished. There's no hurry picking it up.
We've finally started the transformation of the 88 notchie to the 88 fastback. We've also started the 2.8 rebuild which hopefully will be around 250 hp when we're done. I think we've decided to build a 3.1 stroker out of it with a few other mods. Rick's doing a complete ground up restoration on the car. It's the 85 GT t-top car I sold him.
-
Mel finishes her IV treatments tomorrow. I will probably be able to come up to get the car one day next week. Anybody need anything transported or picked up?
-
Talk to Conrad and see if he wants you to bring his car up and leave it.
-
i need a EGR hose if one of you have a good one your willing to part with. 88 would be nice, but whatever.
-
I'm completely out of any year tube, sorry.
-
I believe the 88 is different from the 85-87.
-
from what i read the 88 tube a little longer, therefore less likely to break.
-
The length is what I'd heard, too. I was thinking that it'd be hard to collapse it down to the required length without the possibility of cracking it.
If you go onto Craigslist Atlanta, there's a guy in Lithonia that's parting out an 88GT. The engine has a knock, so he's selling it off piece by piece. Ask for Slim. Here's the link

Well the heat finally got to me and I got rid of the beard for now. I'll regrow it by December...lol

Yea, it cooled me off so much I caught a cold. No kidding. I'm going to bed early and see if I feel better in the morning.

Well we're getting closer...
-
The owner decided to go with the fastback body instead of a notchie. So we removed all of the body panels and we're changing everything. The sunroof section would have worked but the one on the car was cracked so we're replacing it also.
-
Since were going to an automatic, I'll have the 5 speed setup for sale, and we're changing the color from the dark grey to the saddle so the dark grey interior will be for sale. And there a great running 2.5 for sale.

Check out this Indy, it's a right hand drive...

My computer got hit in the storm and is out of commission. I'm using a laptop to check the forums and my mail. You know, a laptop is hard to figure out when your use to using a mouse. :-\
I'm getting ready to rebuild an 88 4 cylinder 5 speed. The car not the motor. When I get it finished, it will be for sale.
I'm also going to switch the body panels and engine and trans., and shifter from and 86 SE without a title to an 84 with a title. I'm building this one for my Brother. The 86 doesn't have a title and the 84 does. In Tennessee you have to have a title.
-
Rob, you do know that you can get a title for $150, right?
BTW I got the parts cars. Come by & check them out if you're down this way. I've posted a link to pics in another thread.

Right now I'm installing a 3800na in my 86 SE. The car is a low mileage car and an automatic. I've already got the engine partially rebuilt and I've got the axles done. Today I'm test fitting and making mounts and hopefully I'll get it installed in the cradle. I should have it in the car next week.

Representative Joe Wilson yelled out "You lie!" When obama, in his speach to congress, said the bill wouldn't provide health care to illegal "immigrants". Of course, he was right: the bills as they are don't have anything that says you have to provide proof of citizenship or legal status.
Obama said several things that I think will prove to be lies. Here's two:
He said he wouldn't sign a bill that allowed illegals to get coverage.
He said he wouldn't sign a bill that increased the deficit. All current bills do that, & by as much as a trillion within 10 years.
Of course, he lies all the trime anyway.

There has also been a bill tossed around that allows anyone to vote without having to show any kind of identification or proof of who they are. Guess we'll possibly go to the 'dip your finger in the ink bottle' method to keep people from voting twice or more, and we'll set up a voting booth every 100 yards along the border.
-
I might have just bought 8 Fiero's and 3 storage buildings full of Fiero parts. 1 of the Fiero's is a white 85 GT t-top.
-
lucky you- wish i had the room to do that oldone in c'ville
-
hey rob i'd be glad to chip in a few bucks or a tank of gas if it would help get you to the run. maybe someone with a room might share for no charge. how about it thats what friends are for. oldone in c'ville

I appreciate the offer and I'd really like to come, but I've got 5 people coming down Saturday to work on their cars. Plus I've got to come up with my rent money and the rent comes first. We'll get together soon. This slump has got to break soon.
-
Rick and I just bought 8 Fiero's and a semi load of parts.
-
Just got another call, a man has 16 for sale. Now I've got to find a place to park 24 Fiero's. That's on top of the ones I already have.
-
if any of them are black spoilerless gt fastback, i'd love to trade decklid with ya
-
way to go rob! welcome to the "FIERO FARM" , got to get up there and see ya . oldone in c'ville

As far as I know they are all notchbacks except for 1 86 GT. I don't know if it has a wing or not.
-
way to go rob! welcome to the "FIERO FARM" , got to get up there and see ya . oldone in c'ville
Yes you do. Just as soon as everything settles down I'm going to have to get everybody up here again.
-
There's already talk of a fall cruise up in northeastern Tennessee. Rick and Derek are setting it up and Julio is going to help also.
-
i'll try to make it if i make it thru the dragon. also if i can get permisson from my wife. lol oldone in c'ville
-
Scotty where the h*ll you been boy.
We got Rick's car going last night and it runs great. Its one wicked little notchback.
-
We had to lower the mounts to get the decklid to close but she looks good.
-
The 8 Fiero's we bought were 4-84's, 3-85's, and 1-86 SE T-top. No fastbacks. 2 run and 3 more need a little work to get running and the rest are parts cars for now but we might build 1 out of the 3. And 1 of the 2 that run 1 is in as close to mint condition as you can get, it's an 84. There's an 85 GT that needs work. The 86 SE T-top car needs an engine and I'm trying to decide whether I want a 2.8 or 3800na in it. The 86 is going to be my keeper. I think Rick is keeping the mint 84.
We left yesterday at 7:00 am and drove to Florence, SC and looked at the cars and parts then drove back home. I got home last night at 11:00 pm.
-
rob what happened to the "16" others you were going to get? and how did you get "8" back to your shop?
-
The 16 are going to have to wait until next year and I still haven't picked up the 8 yet. We've decided to go haul 2 at a time behind two trucks with trailers. Maybe go every weekend for a month. Then go another weekend and get the parts. The man with the 16 Fiero's said he'd hold them for me until next year so I can find a place to park them.
-
thats cool. what type of parts are mostly in the truck, a little bit of everything? i would like to get some power mirrors someday, in case theres any in that truck.
-
It was so full I couldn't tell what all was there.
-
Rick got a speeding ticket last night in Athens while test driving his car.
http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b7/RobsFieros/?action=view¤t=ricksspeedingticket.flv
-
details????
-
OOPS! Wasn't souped up enough. The cop caught him.
-
Details? He was test driving the car and when he was slowing back down to come into town they got him running 47 in a 30. He got lucky and got out of the ticket for no insurance, but the speeding ticket he couldn't get out of. $90.00
-
Well the man with the 8 Fiero's for sale called me just a few minutes ago and backed out of selling them. He said he decided to keep them all.
-
I'm going back on the road repairing cars. So if you need your Fiero or anything else worked on give me a call. I'm keeping the shop and will continue working there when I'm not on the road. I've got to repair my van and get it cleaned up and loaded with tools and insured then its back to what I enjoy, seeing the country and meeting new people.
-
HEY ROB, WHAT ABOUT RICK, IS HE GOING TO HANG AROUND THE SHOP, STILL THINKING OF DOING THAT MOTOR?
-
If there's nothing going on I'll still be at the shop and Rick will be there when he comes down to work on his. I'm still doing the 3800 swaps. There's just been a lot of people calling me to come out and fix there cars, mostly cars that someone else has worked on before and messed up.
-
FIERO'S?
-
No they haven't messed up any Fiero's yet. But they have about everything else.
-
On a different subject. I think with as many mechanically minded people in the Fiero community, that we could build a total electric Fiero. Anybody else think we could do this and want to see what we could come up with?
-
theres a guy i make deliveries to that took a fiat sports car and stripped out the engine, trans, radiater and everything else he didn,t need and filled it up with batteries. i mean its a little more involved then that but it works, but he only has about a 50 mile range before recharging. i tryed to get him to a fiero but he wants to do a S-10 pickup.

I'm going ta have to move to Georgia. All my friends are down there. Maybe when I get rich I can take a weeks vacation down there and just visit everybody.

That would be nice, and if you got bored I know where there is an 85GT that needs putting back together, ha ha 8)
-
I'm going ta have to move to Georgia. All my friends are down there. Maybe when I get rich I can take a weeks vacation down there and just visit everybody.
You don't want to move to Georgia. Ga. is so full of crap it's unbelievable. Case in point: A friend recently sold a car & canceled the insurance. Of course he got insurance on his newer car. Got stopped, & arrested for driving on a suspended license. Taken to JAIL & his car IMPOUNDED - EVEN WITH PROOF OF INSURANCE! Why? Because when you cancel your insurance on ANY car, your license AUTOMATICALLY gets SUSPENDED!!! It doesn't matter if you sold the car, parted it out, or quit driving it. ANY time you cancel insurance on ANY car, you HAVE to go down to the DMV & PROVE to them that you have insurance on the new car. It doesn't matter if you have TEN cars insured, you STILL have to PROVE to them that you no longer own the car you canceled insurance on!
This is only ONE example of the archaic laws on the Ga. books!

If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
-
Well I agree the government sucks with all their rules and regulations. But....but....but...I can still drive down and visit. ;D
-
I just spoke with the Tag Office and asked them if this was true. They said it isn't true. If the man was arrested for having a suspended license, it wasn't because he sold a car. If his license was suspended, then his plates and insurance should have been suspended, since you can't insure a car without a license and/or plates.
They said that if he had sold a car, canceled the insurance on it, the insurance company notifies the state that the insurance has been canceled. Now, if he kept the tag and didn't turn in the tag, after a while the state sends out a letter notifying the owner that he has a registered but uninsured vehicle and that he must pay a $25 fee and provide immediate proof of insurance. If it's ignored, a second notice is sent and the fee is now $55. If that notice is ignored, then a 3rd letter is sent and the fee is $85. If the third notice is ignored, then the Public Safety Department suspends the license. This process can take as much as 2 years to complete and isn't done immediately upon cancellation of insurance. They also said that if his license was suspended, he would have received a request in the mail to surrender his license.
There is no automatic suspension of your drivers license if you cancel insurance on one of your cars. One of my brothers used to use this to his advantage. He would obtain insurance on a car, register it, then cancel the insurance a month later and he'd drive it until time to renew the registration because the process is so slow.
Did he possibly transfer the plate from the car he sold over to another car without notifying the insurance company?
-
Tell that to the state bureaucrats & the cops that arrested him. The problem is, that they don't bother to send out any notices even if they are SUPPOSED to; they just suspend your license. They set the law up that way for the very reason you mentioned, the folks that would cancel their insurance after they got their tags. It's required that the insurance co. give notice to the state ANY time ins. is canceled, EVEN IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE ON ANOTHER VEHICLE.
Also, if you're not in their (state) database when you're stopped, you GO TO JAIL. It doesn't matter if you have insurance (& proof of) & license, if either the state or the insurance co. makes a mistake & you're not in their database, you GO TO JAIL and your car is IMPOUNDED!
BTW, what if you sell your ONLY car & are driving your wife's car? YOUR LICENSE IS SUSPENDED!!! Never MIND that it's insured & perfectly legal for you to drive it, YOU HAVE TO SHOW PROOF OF INSURANCE TO GET YOUR LICENSE BACK - EVEN IF YOU DON"T OWN A CAR!!!! They set up the insurance cartel so that you HAVE to insure EVERY car, then SUSPEND your license if you sell one & are driving an INSURED vehicle.
Believe me, I've been through ALL of this (each of these scenarios) before, having had the website screwedbyinsurance.com up for 4 years (as well as personal & 2nd person experiences). I have over a thousand stories that folks posted of how the insurance cartel screwed them over! I need to get that site back up...

This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead. - Adolf Hitler
-
All you have to do is cancel your registration before you cancel your insurance to avoid any problems. In Gwinnett county, you can cancel your registration by email or fax, and they give you the form to fax in online. You don't even have to leave your house.
From the Gwinnett Co. website: "It is advised that you cancel your registration before you cancel your insurance policy."
-
And they don't suspend your license because you cancel your insurance. The prerequisite for getting insurance is that you have a valid drivers license. My brother that lives with me sold his Fiero, cancelled his insurance, and he still has his license. He can still legally drive a car. The only catch is that if he should have an accident that is his fault, it's charged to the owner of the car he was driving. If your license were to be suspended due to no insurance, it isn't done immediately. As I stated above, it sometimes takes years to get to that point.
The insurance companies are required to report within 1 business day to the state database of any cancellation or initiation of insurance on an automobile. There are a few fly-by-night or very small insurance companies that may not do this immediately, but the major companies are automatically linked to the database so that when they issue insurance coverage, it goes into the database at the same time. This information came from my Allstate agent just about an hour ago. Today, you don't even have to carry your proof of insurance card on you because the police officer can check your coverage on the spot. The information gets into the system so fast that there's no lapse of time that the system may show that you're not covererd. The fine for not having proof of insurance is $25 and a court appearance. According to my agent, the only time anyone should receive that citation is when the computer reports that you don't have coverage or the police officer is just being hard-nosed and is enforcing an old law that requires you to carry proof. He may know that you have insurance, but still writes the citation. $25 and court costs for the jurisdiction.

Tell all that to guy who just went to jail for driving on a suspended license - WHEN HIS ONLY "INFRACTION" was canceling the insurance on a car he had sold - a couple months ago. Also tell it to the state, & the cops that took him to jail.
You can't believe a DAMN thing your ins. agent tells you (although they're right about reporting everything. Proof of that is my personal experience & the stories on my website.
And yes, they CAN take you to jail if they want for not having proof, even if it shows in their database that you have insurance. Cops are like that, you know... >:(

I'm not disputing whether he was arrested for a suspended license, or not, but I would bet there's some part of the story that we don't know. What was the jurisdiction?

The DMV told him his license was suspended because he dropped the insurance on his car (the one he sold).
Besides, what if you just can't afford the insurance so you drop it & park the car. It will be then illegal for you to drive someone else's car 'cause they will suspend your license. I'll NEVER move back to Ga. permanently (even if I stay here a lot).

i dropped the the insurance on my fiero and parked because I can't afford insurance, and a new battery right now. I got pulled over last week in my brother's car for speeding. the cop had problem with it, and no problem writing a ticket. although i do with 2 other vehicles with insurance. his policy covers me as long as I have permission for him

Which do you most can't the least?
What I most can't the least, would be do not a bad job but always a good.
-
The tranny's bad on the truck and it has 293,000 miles on it. Julio gave it to me so yes I'm thinking about crushing it. I can't find a trans. anywhere at a decent price.
-
I spend $46.76 a week on cigarettes. That's $187.04 a month and $2244.48 a year. I think I can find something better to do with my money.
How much can you save?
-
Hey, at least pull the Fiero-specific items like intake, fuel rail, alternator and AC brackets and thermostat housing off the engines before taking them.
-
I did on all of them except 1. It has set in the weather for years and aint worth pulling.
-

Rob, I guess you don't remember, but my brother has about 70 old Mopars. I'll bet we have a trans. What size engine & type trans is it?
Or: I may just buy the truck from you (or swap out some parts - want the Indy Spaceframe?) ;) What year is the truck? Is it rusty?
~ Paul
aka "Tha Driver"
-
I hope those aren't my doors that I gave to 85GT to take to you. I was going to give them to my stepson to recycle. He needs what little money they'd bring.

No I still have those doors, these were completely stripped. The doors you had are going on a Fiero.

It's a 93 Dodge 318 2wd, no rust and has 293,000+ miles on it. And it's Tennessee orange with a red door. It actually runs real good but after it gets warm the trans quits pulling. Its an old state truck.
-
I could probably use that truck. Want to trade for the rolling Indy spaceframe? If you find a rusted out Indy you could transfer the engine & trans, body parts & interior & have a nice Indy. If I didn't have too many projects I'd be looking for a rusty Indy myself.
If you deliver, I'll throw in some other parts (what about the 3800 NA?).
You still have my phone #, right?
~ Paul
aka "Tha Driver"
-
I know where there's a rusted out indy but he won't pay over $100 for a frame and Julio said he'd have to have about $500 out of the truck. I was joking about crushing the truck. But it is for sale.
-
I was thinking of selling the rolling spaceframe for $300 - it IS a real Indy, after all. Heck the Calipers are worth $100. If his is rusty, you wouldn't want to transfer all the rusty suspension & cradle over to a good frame.
I'd be interested in the truck, but I'm broke right now. I just spent $250 for bumpers & side skirts for the VW, & $635 for flares for it.
Think Julio would be interested in the 3800?
Thanks,

America - made in China! :(
-
I didn't know America was made in China, I've always thought it came from Taiwan.
-
The vast majority of things I look at now is made in China. I don't buy them, unless I HAVE to have the item & can't find it made ANYWHERE else.
Not only that, but China now OWNS us! They're the ones buying all this debt so obama can pay off the fat cats on wall street & in Washington. >:(

Rick and Derek are coming down to the shop tomorrow to work on Rick's 85 GT. He's got to replace the crank it's bad after less than 500 miles. Derek is driving his Formula with the 3800SC. I also met a man today that said he could make the V8 adapter plates cheaper than Archie. I'm going to have him make me one and I'll let everybody know how it turns out.

refresh my memory about the mustang
-
The White car: '92 2300 dual-plug 4 cyl., automatic. Runs & drives. Needs a hood, windshield, headlight, & some TLC. Some of the interior pieces are off, but they're all there. I've been asking $800 for it.
There was a fiberglass cowl hood on Craig's List for $200 not long ago.

Julio said if you bring the car up and haul the truck back, he'll trade.

I was thinking you'd do the hauling. ;-)
I've been asking $800 for the Mustang.
I don't have any way to haul anything anymore. My pickup DIED (I think the timing jumped), & I have no intentions (or time or money) to fix it. I also no longer have a usable trailer.
Thanks anyway,

I think I just bought an 86 t-top Fiero. I should know tomorrow for sure.
-
I still haven't heard back on the t-top Fiero.

Does your Fiero stack up to the rest?

Or is it hard to pick out of a crowd of Fiero's?

Maybe you need an engine swap?

Or maybe just spruce up the interior?

With a little work you could have a trophy car....

We had planned to come to the meeting today but got a late start and by the time we got to Ellijay it was 2:30, so we went riding around instead. We encountered 3 GHP's on Fort Mountain telling me to slow down in the middle of a hard curve. Rick and Derek got sideways on a couple of the curves later in the day. I think it was on hwy. 68 and on hwy. 64 Derek had a Mustang that wanted to race so he smoked him two times before the Mustang turned tail and went the other way. All together we had a great time but we did miss getting to see everybody.

I just finished building another 88 2.8.

Sure do, which ones you need?

All 4. Got some good ones?
-
I'll see what I have tomorrow and let you know. I guess you want pix?
-
hey pat got a 87 coupe in are junkyard, as far as i can remember all the trim is there, if you want me to check, let me know
-
Yeah, I've been trying to buy trim from the guy on Pennock's, but he's slow at answering emails. And he doesn't have a complete set of trim or any marker lights.
-
i'll check it out, not sure which day i can get there, their hours are 8 to 5 mon/fri. i work 7:30 to 4:00 so its tough to get there. i'm off thurs and fri so it may be thurs before i can get there. do you want me just to pop it off and don't worry about the clips and how much are you looking to spend?
-
Don't need clips. The guy on Pennock's is selling a set of trim missing 2 of the smaller pieces and no lights for $35 shipped. I'd be willing to go $50 for a nice complete set (with lights).
-
pat i forgot this week is thanksgiving, chances are the yard will be closed thurs, fri, sat, sun, i might not be able to pull the parts till next week. i,ll go over on my lunch hour and see if everything is there and check on the price,i'll let you know
-
I'll check Monday, I forgot to look today, but I should have them since I took them off the 88 coupe.
-
I forgot to look again, I've been busy trying to finish a car before Thanksgiving. I'm positive I have everything and Pat if you want them you can have them for $40.
-
Are you coming to our Christmas party?
-
I don't think so. I can't see at night to drive, but I'm getting my eyes checked again. I've had to buy glasses 3 times this year because my perscription keeps changing. Maybe they can figure it out.
-
I think Jerry, Dewey, and Ben are coming up in a couple of weeks. I can send them back with them.
-
pat i went to the yard yesterday and pulled the trim($20.00). its definetly not perfect. one amber marker has about 1-1/2" broken off, one red marker turned out to be a grooved part, one of the pieces running from the door to the wheelwell has the little tab missing(although it was tight on the car without it)you could probably make your own tab if you wanted to, it looks ok from the outside. the other red marker is in two pieces. the rest of the parts are all ok. you can have all the pieces for 20.00, but if you don't want them i'll just hold on to them, maybe i'll find someone else who needs them.
-
How are the passenger side front fender piece (wheel to door) and the passenger side rear quarter piece (door to wheel)?
-
???
-
pat it sounds like robby might have ones that are better condition but heres what i've got- front wheelwell to door 2 ok, door strips 2 ok, short pieces from door handle to back edge of door 2 ok, back door edge to back wheelwell 2 ok, i good marker passenger side rear. the other 3 markers - 2 broken - 1 is grooved instead smooth round. $20.00 is what i payed and i am not trying to make a profit off of you. maybe you should buy both sets and use the best parts. i think i would give these a light sanding and paint.
-
I got the ones from the guy on Pennock's -- they look pretty good in the pictures, but it's an imcomplete set, so I think I'll get Rob's also.
-
I'll get them to you somehow Pat.
-
Rob, how big a hurry is pat ??? I'll be up in a couple of days & i will bring them back... 8)
-
I figured you would. Pat just pay Jerry and he can pick up the parts for you.
-
There's going to be alot of people at the shop on Saturday all day long, if anybody would like to come up and join us we'll be talking a lot of bs and working on cars. We might even get out and cruise town in our Fiero's. So come on up and join us.
-
Pat I have your parts boxed up. There's 8 pieces plus 4 marker lights. The Fender mouldings have the pal nuts in the bottom of the box and the short pieces behind the door handles have the phillips screws still in them.
-
Thanks! Now all I have to do is figure out how to get them.
-
Jerry's coming up tomorrow so I'll send them with him. I'll give him your phone number and he can call you and meet you down in Georgia somewhere.
-
I just found out that one of my members, that was coming down tomorrow, was in a car accident tonight. Derek and Jaimie are going to stay in Erwin and keep me posted on his condition. His name is William Laws but we call him Will. I think he's 20 years old.
-
Will's ok he's still coming tomorrow but Derek and Jaimie are going to wait until next weekend.
-
Somebody please turn the water off...it's getting deep up here. ;D
-
you should be in AUSTELL, it's all running down here.. :) :)
-
Their calling for snow up here on Saturday. Looks like its going to snow every Saturday.
-
Man, I woke up this morning around 4AM to some kind of noise. Took a moment to realize that it was the Early Warning Sirens. We had a potential tornado pass right over us. Hadn't even heard the storm. When I looked out, the front yard was flooded and the next door neighbor had water all around his house, up to his garage.
-
Yea I noticed you didn't answer the phone last night when I called. Mel's going to have to start taking it easy on you, you wear out too easily... ;D ;D ;D
-
This is from the Niota Tn. Christmas Parade

We went out to eat afterwards.

-
Rob, Where's the SNOW ????? :) :)
-
I thought you had it?
-
I pulled this piston and rod out of Will's old 2.8 that came out of the blue 87 GT. It's not only broken but it's bent and twisted.
-
did it beat up the crank ?????
-
Crank and block are both shot.
-
Thats Bad... no one wants that....
-
Five Fieros in Niota? Niota ain't got enough room for 5 more Fieros with all those that Darrell has up there.
Robbie, I should have you an 86 short block up there sometime next week. Low oil pressure, but nothing broken. Maybe you could use it to rebuild Will's car.
Jerry, I think Robbie solved the problem with the battery you supplied for the Lil Duke Coupe. He felt that the bad alternator was shorted to ground, keeping the battery from charging. I disconnected the ground cable today and the charger indicated it was charging.
The 3.4 for my 87 went to the installer today. Been buying parts for it since way back in the summer. Finally got all the gaskets, flywheel and motor mounts and took the injectors to The Fuel Injection Connection today to be rebuilt. Should have them back tomorrow or Wednesday. Then I guess the car will go down to Ashby for the install. Gotta refinish a set of valve covers first. Would guess he'll have it back before Christmas.
-
I hope he does, that would be a great Christmas present for you and Mel. To get the 87 GT back up and running.
-
I know its late notice but we're having our Christmas diner Saturday the 19. It was going to be for members only but we've decided at the last minute to invite anybody that wants to come. I'll get to the shop by 12 noon to meet everybody as they get there. After everyone arrives then we're going out to eat at a resturant that everyone agrees on. Then we're going back to the shop to shoot the cow and eat snacks. We're not exchanging gifts just stories. So if you have Saturday open, come up and join us and meet some of our members.
-
Wish i could make it, but Iam going home this friday for the weekend.. My wife & I are going to my parents in Knightdale NC.. We are working & flying Christmas Eve & the 26th.. Were going to celebrate Christmas early ( 1 week). Have a good time.....
-
I got the hauler loaded and am ready to go... ;D
-
I've just got one problem...nowhere to unload them... ;D

It looks like the parking lot is full... :o

Have you ever seen a Quad 4 in a Fiero? I have, today. With NOS.
-
This ones blown up, I've gotta put in a new one next week.
-
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE, from the ETFC
-
Lets try this again Pat. I'm going to be selling Fiero parts online along with just about anything else automotive. Here's the new link... http://sites.google.com/site/robsusedautopartsbiz/
-
I like your new site..... 8) 8)
-
Yea I do too. I hope it works out and I get to keep it. I hope it helps everybody get the parts they need. If you need anything just ask and I'll see if I have it or can get it.
-
Thanks Pat.
-
Been working on the trailer again.
-
I've almost got the Quad 4 ready to go back in the 87 SE.

-
It's Looking Good.. :)
-
Well, it's in. It's not all hooked up yet but the cradle is bolted in and the wheels are back on.
-
For the month of January only. You furnish the motor, trans., harness, computer, and axles and I'll install a 3800SC in your car for $2500 cash up front. Whatever I remove from your car is mine.
If this works out I might continue it another month.
-
It's done except for installing the new plugs. I tried to crank it over to get some oil pressure before I start it but the battery's dead.
-
This is Buddy waiting on Gail to feed him his chicken and cheese....

If you do this swap yourself, you'll spend about $2000 just in parts, programming, and getting your harness made to fit, plumbing for the coolant, fuel, and a/c, making mounts, axles, and etc.
-
If you do the 3800SC engine swap with no extra mods you'll gain atleast 100hp. With a few mods you can gain 200hp. With the 3800NA you can gain 65hp.
-
Ok I got the quad 4 running and it runs great, but it still has problems to work out, like headlights motors don't work, fan don't work, tach don't work, waterpump is making a noise, and if you smack the computer it only runs on 2 cylinders.
-
LOL why would want to smack the computer :)
-
It was only running on 2 cylinders to start with so after checking everything I found out it was the computer, so I smacked it and it started running right.
-
I'm rebuilding the engine on a John Deer tractor now and it only runs on 2 cylinders, but thats because it only has 2 cylinders. It's a 1953 JD 40 Series Standard. I've orered both rear brake calipers for the 87SE and they won't be here until Tuesday. Wednesday I'm working on a Honda, it's my wife's Honda. New timing belts, axles, struts, oil change, tune up, and all belts and hoses, and brakes. Friday I'm going on a service call to Delano Tn. to replace a distributor in a Dodge pick up. And sometime this week the parts for the John Deer will be here and I get to finish rebuilding it. I'm taking off tomorrow to get my back worked on and to help Gail finish moving some small items from her old office to her new office.

-
The man with the tractor is the man that built my work bench that will support a complete cradle assembly with a 3800SC and automatic tranny. He's building me another 1 but this one's going to be bigger.
-
Derek smoked his engine again. This time he dropped a valve and busted the edge off a pisten. The cylinders are completely worn out.

-
just curious is this a mechical problem or a heavy foot problem?

FOOT
-
Charlie, how's Ray doing? Did his surgery go alright?
-
Yes, thanks, he's doing fine. He's a little tender and can't lie down and stretch out. He's sleeping in the recliner until the soreness goes away. He was totally out of it for about 3 or 4 hours after I got him home. Had lots of fun with him. He didn't remember anything about coming out of surgery or coming home.
They gave him a small cup of coke and some graham crackers because he hadn't had anything to eat since midnight the night before. After we got home I asked him if the foamy puddle beside the truck was where he had poured the coke out on the ground when I stopped at the drug store to get his medicine. He stood outside the truck to have a smoke. He said he didn't remember the drugstore.
I then went to the kitchen and got the cup and suggested that maybe instead he relieved himself beside the truck in front of the drug store. I assured him that if he did, they had him on camera and the police might be visiting him in the near future. Had him worried for a while.
-
I'll call him tomorrow and tell him I saw him on the 6 oclock news outside a drug store.
-
Looks like I'm going to get snowed in for a few days. Their calling for 3" to 6" of snow and ice up here.
-

Got 2" since 3:00

When I got to the shop this morning I found 2 boxes of florescent bulbs waiting. I don't know who sent them, but they sure did brighten up the shop. Then on top of that Paul showed up and built me a new and bigger workbench. You can't see it too well with all the light.
-
Paul is the man with the John Deere that I built.
-
This is our latest build. It's going in Will's blue 87 GT.

-
Somebody's trying to hyjack my computer so I may not be posting for awhile. I've already ran all of my spyware and malware programs and even did a restore just so I could get online this morning. So if I disappear for awhile, I'll be back.
-
I just got an all clear so I'm good to go.
-
I'm making a swap kit and selling it for the 3800NA or SC engine's.
If you get the engine, I'll put you a kit together with instructions and a list of parts you need and you can do your own swap. I've also designed a Y-pipe you can use with the 3800 exhaust manifolds and go into the Fiero exhaust system. And the Y-pipe comes in the kit. The kit starts at $800.00 and goes up depending on what you want me to furnish.
The basic kit includes all the mount Brackets, Y-Pipe, Misc. Parts, and a list of parts you can pick up at any auto parts or junk yard. Pictures with instructions on how to install the kit and a phone number incase you have problems.
I'm trying to make it affordable.
You'll have you contact Derek for your harness and programming. He gets $400 for the harness and $75 for the basic program or $150 for fine tuning plus $50 an hour for every hour of tuning time after the first hour.
(Fine tuning for one hour = $150)
(Fine tuning for 3 hours = $150 + $50 + $50= $250) clear as mud?
-
Dewey, are you ready to do a 3800 swap?
-
ya know, I love those 3800 sc motors.... Always wanted to put one into my grand am, but too much hassle to do so from what I've read. (although I have heard the 3500 motor top end mates nicely with the 3400)
-
I just can't understand why a person would want to do an upgrade and only gain 20 hp. With the 3800NA swap you gain 65 hp, and a 3800SC you gain 100 hp. And that's stock hp ratings. You do a few mods and you can gain 200+ hp.
By the time you buy head bolts and gaskets for the 3.4 swap and pay someone to switch out the heads, intakes, and redrill the starter. You've spent almost as much as you would to do a 3800 swap.
-
how much would a 3800na cost? and what kind of mods are you talking about and how much $? would it be cheaper than what rick did?
-
I found a place to get low mileage 3800na's with tranny's and wiring harness for $1000.00.
-
To do the 3800 swap your looking at somewhere in the neighbor hood of $2500. You'll have to ask Rick what he's got in his build.

-
I got my 3800na sitting in the cradle yesterday. I had it sitting in the cradle I got from Scott but nothing lined up the way I wanted it to so I pulled it and installed it on the 86 cradle that came out of the car and now everythings lined up straight and level. I'll reinstall it in the car today then its back to producing mounts and brackets for the mounts. I've got 5 sets sold and 1 set has to go out this weekend.
I've set me up a jig useing a bad 3800SC engine with a good 4T65E tranny on an 86 cradle to make my mounts and brackets. I can sit the whole setup on my workbench and work on it standing up.
I've got the swaps down to $2500 if you furnish the engine, trans., harnesses, and computer.

Rob,
I sent you an email, give me a call when you can.

Dewey, I havent heard from you in a while, got dads new 7730 ECM installed and it makes a BIG difference. If you want to gain an easy and cheap 20 HP, I can go over the details with you. I think the total cost, parts and all, was about 300 bucks. You can get the same performance from a 2.8 that a 3.4 OHV gives you in the Fiero without even swapping the engine. It takes me about 5 hours to redo the wiring harness and install all need parts. It adds in a digital EGR so no more EGR vacuum solenoid issues! All I can tell you is come to Robs here soon and we'll take you for a ride....
-
hey derek sorry i havn't back to you , i guess this long cold winter has got me down. i like the sound of that swap, now do you have to add your labor to that $300 or is that the actual price? i'm ready whenever you have time. can we do it at robs place or do i have to come to your place? i only work 3 days a week ( not by choice ) usually mon, tue, and wed, but this week they have me coming in mon, wed, and fri. don't know yet if this change will be permanent. also can do on a saturday if you want to. just let me know when you get a chance. oldone in c'ville

hey derek back at you! i emailed ya back this evening. what are you doing up so late, making harness's?
-
Actually we were down at robs and finished one of the harnesses I was working on, up. Lolgood guess! Ill be starting on the harness for robs 85 soon and his 3800 name car as well. I look forward to seeing your car at the shop!
-
This is my 3800na car. It's the 86 SE I bought a while back.
-
Derek's car has left the building, again lol. Here's his new heat exchanger installed.

This is a copy of the letter I just sent to Marshall Engines...
I bought an engine from you to go in an 87 Fiero. It was a 2.3 Quad 4. I've had trouble with the engine's timing chain hitting the timing cover. It's cut 2 grooves in the timing cover. It was also smoking real bad, but I took it back out on the road and drove it to seat the rings. Now all that's left to do is fix the timing chain issue. I've already talked to your technician whose said to change the timing chain and gears. Which didn't change a thing. Now he wants me to remove the tensioner and check it to see if it's working. I've already replaced it 3 times before calling him. The chain is tight on the side the tensioner is on but the opposite side it's flopping. I've tore this engine down the last time. I haven't received a dime to do all this work including pulling the cams to check the valve seals. Which were fine. I have given your number and the extension number along with the claim number to the owner of the car. I also explained to her that the engine now has metal shavings from the timing chain hitting the cover in the oil and most likely through out the engine. Since there's 2 grooves cut into the cover. This engine only has about 1500 miles on it and was installed on 12/31/09. If I have to buy her another engine out of my pocket I will because I'm an honest person and I stand behind my work. But a copy of this letter will go on my website for the world wide Fiero community to see. If you think we're a small bunch of Fiero freaks, do a search on us.

Hey Dewey, if I buy those 12 Fiero's that man has for sale, will you go to Canada and bring em back for me? I was all over that until I saw where they were.
-
hey man i'm up for a road trip, i wonder how long it would take? lets see if we could get 6 trailers that will take 2 cars, we'd need 4 more crazy people besides us. i wonder what the customs people would think?
-
Who cares about customs, lets ride... ;D
-
hows that price for 12 cars? you got that kind of change laying around? lets see theres jerry, derek, rick and we still need one more fool. i bet it would be fun.
-
Who's paying for 'em? I'm just up for the ride. But we'll have to wait til it quits rainning.
-
well if we could get 6 more fools we could have 2 drivers per truck, then if we each bought one we could pay $416.00 each unless we could get him down on the price. and think of the educational value of the trip.
-
You know, Conrad called me the other day and said he had his 85 SE with the 3.4 dynoed. Said they told him it was running 197 hp. And that's with the smaller 2.8 heads and intake. Go figure. That's almost as much as a stock 3800na. I thought the 3.4's were rated at stock being 160 hp?
-
The 2.8 heads aren't smaller. They're exactly identical to the 3.4 heads. Same casting numbers. The intake is a different matter. The Fiero intake might be a little more restrictive than the Camaro or Firebird intake. Factory numbers for the 3.4 was ~ 160 hp. The extra horsepower came from the leather wrapped gearshift knob.

Oohhh, thats it... ::)

I'm thinking about having a swap meet at the shop on May 15-16, that a Saturday and Sunday. Would anybody be interested in coming?
-
I'll come :) :)
-
If I am in town from work I will be up there for the swap meet.
-
Is this enough of a done deal to put in the GaFiero club event calendar?
-
i'll be there unless something comes up that i don't know about.

Give me a week to see if I can get some help with it. I'll keep you posted.
-
Charlie the purse is on it's way... ;D
-
I've got 10 Fiero's in the shop now.
-
-
looking good !
-
I'm looking at another building tomorrow just to put my parts in. It's about half the size of the shop. If I do that then I should have more room for the cars.
-
This is Dave's new ride.
-
I took in a 85 SE yesterday for a 3800SC swap. It should be ready to leave the shop in a month. He just wants the stock setup with no modifications and automatic with cruise control and A/C.
-
Dang where did the good pictures go?
-
rob did you get the other building?
-
Not yet. It's right next door so it'll be the same addy and there's a door from my present shop to the new shop but I'm thinking about getting both of them. As of yesterday I have 12 Fiero's in my shop and an Olds., a Fiero chassie, and Fiero trailer. Not to mention the parts I have. I'm running out of room fast and I'm doing 4 swaps now.
-
Derek's working on my harness in my 86 SE 3800NA.

man you must have them stacked on top of each other. is the trailer completely finished? i'd like to see it when its finished.
-
Not completely but it is ready to be towed. And the car Derek is wiring up has the hitch I'm building on it.
-
what kind of hitch are you putting on it? is it like a receiver type hitch or a solid bolt to the frame hitch?? i have a hitch out in my shed that i used to pull a u-haul down from chicago to cartersville back in april of " 1989 ". its a class 3 made for a 1986 ford ltd . its chrome plated ( with a little surface rust on a small section and hasn't been used since 1989. just hated to throw it away. i figured someone would be able to adapt it for some use. if you think you could use it for the fiero trailer you can have it.

I would love to come, but I need to find a tow vehicle & a trailer (or a pickup) to bring everything. (Indy carpet & door panels, two rear aero bumpers, front aero spoiler & brackets, lotsa misc. parts).

Yeah I'll give you $1,000 each for every new one on the trailer. :D
Geeze you gotta be kidding with that hitch. You should make one like I did for the formula. Replaces the bumper re-inforcement & hides behind the tag, with a tag mount that hinges down. Of course mine fits the custom bumper.

I just stopped by to let you know I am back with a new laptop at Mom's, my old computer crashed.
Glad to see you back, Rob. How are things going, other than the computer?

I hope you realize you are responding to a post that was posted 8 years ago!!!!!

The quote is from the A Survey thread Robbie posted in this morning. Robbie had his badly injured leg amputated and has been going through therapy and staying at his Mom's until he's able to be home alone during the day.

Sorry. Maybe I should've replied here (http://www.gafieroclub.org/bbs/index.php?topic=2983.msg28209#msg28209), but it didn't seem to be appropriate. I didn't want his post to be ignored, but the survey thread didn't seem like the best place to reply.
-
He does that occasionally. That's the reason I had him start this thread.
-
Yes, I've noticed. I don't want to knock someone when they're down.

I don't either. In his early days, months, and years, he was really confused. He's come an awfully long way in recovery, both physically and mentally.

It's 58 degrees outside here but it's not raining
It's 36 and rainy, here.

It's 11:42 and very sleepy here.
