My air filter housing is rusted and needs replacing on my 88 Formula. I don't want to pay $70 at the Fiero store for a refurbished one. What options do I have? Are there any other air filter housing from other cars that I could use? I'd like to keep the ram air if possible.

Do you just need the round canister? If so, I have one with a lid. The gasket on the lid and on the snout are both good. No rust. $25 and shipping. Pullapart pricing is $21. Doesn't include the Intake Air Temperature sensor.

Yes sir, just the canister. I'll take it. Let me know if you'd want me to pay you through Paypal or money order.

Email or PM your address. I'll ship it out on Monday and notify you of shipping costs. Once I've shipped it, you can pay me through Paypal.

Thanks! PM sent.

Boxed and ready to go. Thanks.

Received it today. Thanks! In very good shape! :)

There is a gasket on the snout?

On mine, I had replaced the gasket at the base, and the gasket at the lid. Is there a gasket I missed?

Some of the filter canisters had a big grey rubber donut seal on the snout where the intake tube attaches. It's a hollow O-ring, like a small inner tube.
-
Interesting. I wonder what the particulars were on that one.

I can only guess that it added a bit of protection from dust and heat being pulled in from outside the air filter. Engine bay heat pulled in at that point would bypass the Intake Air Temperature sensor and go directly into the engine.

Somehow, I thought there was a clamp there, to prevent that.
