Title: Chipped Windshield
Post by: pgackerman on March 19, 2015, 09:36:07 pm

Fiero Gurus,

Received a chip in my windshield today.  The impact area is on the driver side outside my usual field of vision.   It's is a little smaller than a quarter, counting the splitting.

Should I try to get a new windshield or just a chip repair?

I've seen videos removing windshields which required saws...

If you have comprehensive coverage, your insurance company will probably pay for chip repair at no deductible.

Didn't even know chip repair kits were on the market.
Bought one and sealed the chip before the parade.
No one noticed anything so the repair must have turned out well.

Thanks guys.

I'd be interested in before and after pictures of the chip repair.

Fyi, clear view on Washington rd will replace my windshield on Monday for $235. I broke it shoving an office chair (boxed) into the passenger area. Dough!

It's easier and does less damage if you open the door and put it in.  :D
