My trunk is limp. My wife is complaining that it just flops down and hits her on the head. She would like it to stand straight up, but when I play with it and it stands up, it almost takes her head off!
Moving the pin up on both sides is too much...,
My question is this:
Can I just move the pin on one side and not the other to get the right support, or will something tear up?
-
One side shouldn't care what the other is doing. Go for it.

You can use a come-along to pull them and relocate the pins. If you remove the decklid for the operation, be sure to cut a couple of 2 x 4's the width of the back window and place them up there in the event the torsion rod slips. If you don't already have the directions, let me know. I think I have a document detailing how to and where to place the pins for the various deck lids and their accessories. Will be away until after 5 pm today.

Thanks. I'll be adjusting it this afternoon!

I didn't find the document but I did find a link on Pennocks. Buddy Craigg's how-to's are better than GM's, anyway.

Is your wife riding in your car?!?
-
That's how I've been doing it with the straps.
No, my wife is not riding in my car. She hates it. It's the other woman.

THAT DID IT! Moving only one side tighter worked perfectly. It feels perfect now. I was afraid that moving one would create uneven twisting forces on the deck, but it doesn't. Thanks everybody.
