I posted in the Market that I am looking for a getrag 282 and was asked to enter some info in the general section about the car.
I have an 87 GT in need of a new transmission. The old one in is shot.
I've had the car for several years and have slowly been trying to turn it into a fast, good handing sportcar capable of running w/ (and surprising) much more expensive cars. Mostly just fun to drive. Along w/ some cosmetics I've added a 3800SC running 12# of boost, drop spindles, adjustable coilovers front and rear, front sport suspension from Arraut Motorsports, 17" wheels, and specs clutch. Before the trans problem the next upgrade would be larger brakes. The car has turned in some good times on road courses and autocross but the brakes are just not up to the job now.
I live in Atlanta. I have the old lowering springs shocks and struts if anyone is interested. They're in good shape.
I'd like to get the car back on the road so if anyone has a getrag 5 speed they'll willing to part w/ please let me know. It'll go to a good cause. cbrown@ctking.com
Thanks for your time

Since you've done all that work to the car, perhaps you could put in a newer transmission, such as the F40.

My personal favorite (and possibly a more viable option for you) is the '93 Beretta/Corsica Getrag. It uses an integrated slave cylinder/release bearing, which I really like. The other "upsides" of this tranny (other than the fact that it's not Fiero-specific, and is much more available) is that it has a sturdier differential, and the newer style VSS that is (I believe) directly compatible with the newer PCMs. If you're using a Dakota Digital adapter for the VSS, you can scrap it.
Good luck. Sounds like you've got a beast of a ride.
