Anyone know the owner?
Why is he getting out of the Fiero Family?

I drove 4 hours there to look at a white 88 gt. needless to say he wasted my time. said engine was rebuilt and strong but had a pretty bad stumble. he also said the paint was 9.5 out of 10. at best it would get a 5 or 6. it was bubbling up in many places and had a ton of chips. also the sway bar links had a ton of play. I asked all kinds of questions trying to get a feel for the car before I got out there, since it was such a far drive. I've been looking for a nice example for a long time. He misrepresented it pretty badly. It also didn't help that he thought it was worth way more than it really was. the worst part was the cosmetics. don't get me wrong i've seen many worse examples, but it was nowhere near the condition i was expecting
If its not a far drive, then it might be worth taking a look if you need parts cars or some projects. but dont rely on his description, take a look in person. I left without making an offer and found a red 88 gt about a week later that is easily 2 or 3 times nicer for less than he was asking.

Wow, thanks for the heads up! You must feel pretty strongly to go through the enrollment process to write a review on a local board!
Welcome to the club and sorry you had that experience.
Start a new thread and show off your 88! Lots of good info on this board too.

Congrats! And welcome to our obsession!
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us.
I messaged the guy and asked him about the GT. He responded. I asked him a follow up question (because Butler is a long way from where I am. Especially when I was going to have to come up with a trailer or dolly.) He never responded.
I figured that either he was full of "brown", or I just hit a nerve. Either way, it didn't seem to be worth my trouble.
Good thing.
We'd love to see pics of your car.

Do you live near the CSRA?

I've been obsessed for a while actually, broke my heart when I wrecked my 88 formula. I've still got it for parts if anyone is in need of a parts car, or just parts. only the front end is damaged.
I posted pics of the new car in a new thread.
...full of brown?

spartanburg SC. I'm a little farther away but am really interested in coming out for meets and run for the hills.

Ok. It's settled then. Pgackerman and I will meet you for a track day solo racing at the Michelin proving grounds for "doughnuts"

Trying to be polite. You'll figure it out. :D
I think I remember you (now) and your Formula, from Pennocks. I might be interested in some bits and pieces.
I just bought an 88 coupe for an engine swap project, but I need to upgrade some of the other stuff, too.
