Right before rfth and my pax headlight motor craps out! When closing, goes all the way, but then at full stop, motor keeps spinning. Open and closes no problem, just keeps on spinning at full closed stop. HELP!

Stripped gear. I can put 1 together with a used plastic gear and bring it if Melanie is out of the hospital. If you are in Clayton early enough, you can change it. Meantime unplug the single wire with the barrel connector.

Thanks Charlie! I've disconnected the single weatherpack on both sides so both lights will stay up......so it will match lol.
Would it be better to go with metal gears? My concern with metal is the "give" is lost and some other, potentially more expensive, hard to find part gets trashed instead?
I've seen gears in the help section at AutoZone. They look the same, but list the corvette , but no fiero. Have you tried those?

If you use Rodney's metal gears, they have rubber bump stops. I've never seen plastic gears break while they still had good bumpstops which leads me to believe that gear breakage is the result of the fingers on the drive plate hitting the hard spokes of the gear. The Fiero Store metal gears don't use bumpstops.
I think the Corvette gears are Generation 2 style. Post a link so I can see what they look like. I've never seen them.

I can bring a plastic gear with a set of each rubber and my upgrade bumpstops and screws and nuts to rebuild it. If I have to cancel out of RFTH, your rooms are still paid for and I'll send the gear with Roger.

That would be great!...uh, i mean the part about sending the rescue kit, not the part about you not being able to make it ;)

Melanie's home, but struggling badly. It's possible I'll still make it if she continues to improve.

Yup. The problem was a stripped gear. Got it fixed so now I can impress all my kid's friends again by "popping" up the lights. Most of them have never seen anything like it.
