20 rooms are blocked under the name "Georgia Fieros".
Our rate for double queen rooms is $110 plus taxes.
The cutoff date is September 1.
All rooms are No Smoking rooms.
Pets are not allowed.
Our destination will be Asheville, NC where we will have dinner, stay overnight prior to returning home Sunday the 17th. I am waiting for quotes from several hotels.

Two full beds, 2 persons $106.24 plus taxes.
Each additional person, add $4.25.
Queen or King beds can be negotiated directly with the hotel.
The front desk number is 828-667-9803. DO NOT call this number to make your reservation.
Our room block expires at midnight August 16. It is up to hotel management to extend the rates beyond August 16.
We must occupy a minimum of 10 rooms to receive the above discounted rates. I can tell you that every hotel I contacted had rates starting in the $150 range, so this is a good rate.
-
The Red Roof Inn property is a smoke--free property. Pets are welcome, but you must contact the front desk at the number above for arrangements before bringing your pet.. It may be that they use certain rooms for guests with pets.
The hotel is 3 stories, 109 rooms. All 2nd and 3rd floor rooms have a balcony which doubles as a walkway to all rooms on that floor. There is an elevator/lift to the upper floors.
There are a number of restaurants and bars close by. I plan to set up Saturday night dinner at a restaurant about 200 yards away so any who wish to have adult beverages will not need to drive afterwards.
-
I have edited my first post for a corrected phone number for Quality Inn and smoking and pet information.
-
My cat smokes, but only after he's had a few margaritas.
-
Just out of curiosity, I looked at how far the start and end points are from me. More than 9 hours' drive...but the end point is about 15 minutes closer.
Is 20 rooms about how many the attendees usually occupy?
-
20 rooms is a general block, not knowing how many will attend. Most hotels will honor additional reservations if more rooms are needed. There are some who come on Saturday morning, make the run then head for home without getting a room.

This is a small sampling of how we will start this year's RFTH. 18 miles of Warwoman Road. Every bit as challenging, if not more so, than The Dragon. The bonus is that there's very little traffic.
-
Warwoman Road, and The Rattler are among our roads as well as our destination of Asheville. I'm looking for ideas for the event T-shirt. This is what I have for the Asheville theme. Any other suggestions are welcome.
-
Lol! The black fiero looks like it's got a mater buck-toof smile if you zoom in.
-
Fog lights. It does look bblack, but that's Aerodonamic's Jaguar Green SE
-
Eating lunch there?
Very tempting drive.
-
Probably too expensive. 12 years ago when this was taken it cost $45 just to get on the grounds. Ramon made special arrangements for us to get in just for the photo shoot.
-
Ah. Expensive to maintain the building.

The colors are nice on that video, but the pace...who am I kidding. What pace? They're just crawling.
More like this?
-
The camera car was TopNotch and I think the one in front of him was f85gtron.
-
Wasn't me. I don't have a third brake light. Not sure who that was.
-
This is The Rattler. NC Hwy 209. We hooked up with the BMW group at the store at about 9 minutes into the video. We ran with them up until they pulled off at about 22:05. This video has a lot of the heavy curves edited out.

The '85 GT came without the third brake light?

With those $ signs on the drive, Biltmore looks like Ritchie Rich's home.
-
Probably not on the route, but I liked the fall color pic from RFTH xx with the esses. Something like this, maybe:
-
Pretty sure that's on the Blue Ridge Parkway. If I remember BRP history correctly, that causeway was what tied two sections together to make 1 parkway after a route change.
-
It's very picturesque, wherever it is.
-
I'm looking for someone to share rooms with. I will cover the more expensive room in Asheville if you will cover the less expensive room in Clayton. Let me know, ASAP.

There has been some problems with getting through to the first number listed for Red Roof Inn Group Bookings. It is constantly giving a busy signal. If you encounter this problem, see the edited post for an additional phone number.
-
Shirts are for sale -- Get them here (http://gafiero.org/shop.shtml).
-
I always enjoy the RFTH events. I plan on being there again this year. Thanks again to Charlie and all of the others who put in the time and effort to make this event happen.
-
Glad to see you post. I haven't seen you post for a bit.
-
Guy's if you want to Open this ride to all, then you REALLY Should make A Post In Grassroots Motorsports, At One time you will reach Hundreds Of Passionate Participants And if nothing else Sell a bunch of those Cool T-Shirts.just post What you Have Shown here /the vidieo's and that Great Shirt and of course the entry Info.
-
That might be a good option for next year. The restaurants I already set up for this year can't handle more than about 40.
-
OK I didn't know you had already sold out. then again there may be a few more restaurants in town.I know that sounds sarcastic but I was just thinking like income for the club. and there are a few Fiero owners there.
-
Oh, yes. It's a very good idea. There isn't an entrance fee and everyone is free to join in. I always set up a lunch restaurant and a dinner restaurant that can serve a projected number of participants. Lately, it hasn't exceeded 40 persons. Maybe not even 30, so that's what I've looked for to serve lunch. I try to get everyone in, seated and out within an hour. Hour and a half, max. Restaurants have to be set up well in advance, and the scouting party are the guinea pigs to test the food and service. They have to be set up well in advance so we know if we have to change the route. Lunch stops are usually the problem because they're in a small town. I don't think there's even a McDonald's in the town of our lunch stop. There are two larger restaurants, both in the old downtown about 3 miles off our path, and neither have much parking space.
The evening dinner is a different matter. I still try to arrange seating for the same number, but it's usually a larger restaurant because we end up in a larger city.
If we do draw a large following next year, I suggest we charge a $5 or $10 entrance fee to cover printing expenses for route sheets, folders, etc. I already am in the mental planning stages for next year's Run For The Hills and the lunch stop will be a larger restaurant with a wonderfully scenic view from the dining room.
-
that sounds Good.

Still looking for someone to share rooms with. I've already made the Asheville reservation.
-
We need to have at least 10 of the rooms booked, otherwise the rates go up to regular rates. No Discount.
Now comes the big question. Who's Going???
-
Dare I ask if fewer than 10 rooms are booked?
-
I haven't checked. I know none of the Michigan club people are staying at either hotel.
-
I'm going. Tammy is planning to go, too.
-
I'm going -- just made my reservations. Can't offer my room to share just yet -- not sure what my brothers are doing.
-
We will be there
-
sure would like to be there Charlie but I just can`t leave right now , maybe someday.
-
I understand, Dewey. If you're at the meeting, I'll bring the steering column part.

EVERYONE WHO'S MADE THEIR RESERVATIONS USING THE GEORGIA FIEROS GROUP CODE, PLEASE CHECK WITH THE RED ROOF INN IN ASHEVILLE. THE CLUB RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THAT NONE OF THE ROOMS HAVE BEEN RESERVED. THAT INCLUDES MY ROOM, FOR WHICH I HAVE A RESERVATION CONFIRMATION CODE.

I have our (CowsPatoot and Fierfly) reservations for Quality Inn, but still getting a busy signal from both numbers for Red Roof Inn. They may be closed for lunch. I will keep trying.
-Sharon
Update....
I was able to get through on the second number and have made our red Roof Inn reservations as well.
-
For anyone planning to arrive on Saturday morning, we will be holding our driver's meeting at 8:30 and departing by 9AM. Route sheets will be available, registration sheets and dining attendance sheets need to be completed before departure so we can tabulate and give the restaurants advance notice.
We will assemble at the Ingles Supermarket shopping center behind the BP. This is just on the north side of town and north of the Quality Inn and other hotels.

Making my reservations today.
-
When I made my reservations today, was told by the desk crew to let everyone know that they need to make their reservations SOON. There is an event in the area that has driven up the rates to more than double the rate we have.
-
If you are planning to attend, you only have one more day to take advantage of our group hotel discounted rates in Asheville.
-
Just made my reservations. Done and done.
-
I'll be watching this unfold from afar. I've been vaguely aware of it, previous years, but am excited about it, this year.
-
Just made my reservations. Done and done.
I'm glad you're not a procrastinator.
-
Just made my reservations. Done and done.
I for one would like to know if Tammy will have a 'Warwoman/Rattler' design keychain for this event? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. ;D
-
Does Tammy just do jewelry and small items, or can she make other things?
-
Another reminder to get your event Tshirt. Just two more weeks to order.
-
Glad to see you post. I haven't seen you post for a bit.
If that's for me, I don't stop in very often, but RFTH is a BIG TIME favorite of mine.
-
I think I'll just drive up on Saturday morning. I'm looking forward to another great run!
-
Does Tammy just do jewelry and small items, or can she make other things?
She says, "Like what? What do you have in mind?"
She does a lot of small metalsmith things. She said she would be happy to make you a Macaroni Jewelry Box. Just let us know. ;)
She's not doing any "warwoman/rattler" things. Kind of hard to come up with anything "jewelry" that would encompass them both.
Although I do have a snake ring that she made. (I helped.)
-
PM sent.

I have had several things happen this last month. Bike trouble, car trouble. But this last item has knocked me out of going to RFTH. My mom has had a stroke and I am going back and forth to the hospital on the weekends to help my sister . As such, I cannot attend RFTH this year. I know thats it a very late date , but I have 2 rooms reserved 1 in Clayton the other in Asheville. If anyone would like to take these rooms please let me know before the end of this week.(8 Sept). If not I will be calling to cancel the reservations . My mom is doing much better as the stroke was caught before any really bad damage was done. The doctors are very happy with her progress.
-
Sorry to hear of both. If you have to cancel reservations, call the numbers used to make them. Tell them of the medical situation. Maybe they won't charge a cancellation fee.

Prayers for your mom from me and Brenda. Be safe in your travelling.

I just realized that RFTH and Fierorama are both on # 22. I'm not sure if Fierorama missed a year somewhere or not.
-
Heres to a speedy recovery for Mom Ron
-
Are any of you going to take video of your run, this year?
-
I may get my camera out and shoot some. The only problem is that I don't know how to convert it from it's format so that it can be viewed on other than the camera.

Hurricane Irma has been in the forefront of the news and the latest forecast is that it may track up through central or west Georgia. It's predicted to be out of the state by Tuesday. We've had a goodly number of people asking about contingency plans.
The latest prediction for the NE Georgia, to Asheville area is that there's only about a 20 % chance of rain and mostly sunny weather. If it happens that there's any storm damage along our route requiring detours, I will be able to get us around most anything. Using the GPS addresses that I've +put into the Route Sheet, you can simply detour to the next waypoint.
Run For The Hills 22 will take place as scheduled.

Hey everyone,
Super late to the party here.
1) Time flies with my job. (I saw the post about this up on another forum, told CowsPatoot I was going to go... and then realized it was this upcoming week).
2) I still want to go.
2a) I quickly looked through the thread. I see some mentions of towns, the Red Roof in... but I didn't catch the following (and if I somehow missed this, I apologize):
2b) What is the name/address of the hotel in Clayton, GA. that we are meeting at? And I'm assuming it doesn't matter what time we show up Friday night? (I might be there pretty late)
2c) I read that the Red Roof Inn in Asheville is/will be filled up, and rates have doubled, can anyone confirm? Also, I'd like the address for that location (I have the TN# from page 3 for the group reservations )
3) Do we get a list of stops and time estimates ahead of time so I can program my GPS? I'm likely to wind up near the back of the pack (so I don't hold up people more daring than I am in corners), and if I miss a turn or something, I want to not lose you guys completely. That would suck.
Last minute caveat - parts are on the way to fix my belt tensioner issue this week. Right now, super aggressive shifts between 3rd and 4th throw the belt off. Which sucks. Especially since I do like going fast (in a relatively straight line with good distance visibility - yeah, I'm a quarter-mile guy, don't judge). :)
-
No one has taken me up on sharing my rooms, so the offer is still open. I have rooms with double queen beds. I'll split costs with you.
2b, 2c. The hotel in Clayton is the Quality Inn. It's on US 441, just south of town. Red Roof Inn in West Asheville is at 16 Crowell Road. Friday night is for getting the cars checked out and ready for Saturday. Because people arrive at varying times, no formal activities are planned.
A route sheet is provided to each driver. It has addresses that can be entered into a GPS. These addresses will direct you to a point on the next road you are to take. This includes text directions for those without a GPS. A Garmin GPS was used to verify the route during the trial runs.
-
Thanks!
I'll take you up on sharing a room with you and gladly split the costs. I'll also cover your meals as a thank you. :)

Do we buy raffle tickets in person on Friday or Saturday?
-
Yes. Club members will be selling the tickets. Drawing will be Saturday evening at Red Roof Inn. Not sure yet if it will be before or after dinner.
-
Good weather, Fieros, good company, and no riots. I'll be following to see how this year's RFTH goes.
Is there a sweep vehicle, this year? Fiero GTB didn't pipe up.
-
He wont be with us. He sold his Mera. Family health matters require he and his wife as caregivers to her sister on a daily basis.
-
I read his sale thread, but he never drove the Mera, anyway. I know you keep in touch.
I hope the ride goes smoothly.
-
He drove it to meetings and car shows. Never on the runs. Got back into Datsuns and after getting the car roadworthy he hasn't had time to make more progress.
-
I'm envious of all those who were able to make this run. Have a great time.
-
Was it a successful run? Lots of Fieros?
-
This year's run as a mixed bag. Overall, I'd say it was a success. But it had an ominous start as my brother Mike's car had trouble right at the start. But it was only a loose hose clamp, and a mechanic from the Michigan club quickly fixed it.
And something happened on this run that has never happened on our runs before. There was an accident. I don't know how much the person involved wants to share, so I will not say more for now.
When I get home, I and most likely others will share pictures.
-
Sorry to hear about the accident. I hope everyone's OK. I hope the Fiero is OK, too.
Is Mike the brother from Texas?
-
Is Mike the brother from Texas?
I have 2 brothers from Texas. Both came.
-
Good for them. That's awesome--particularly in light of all the hurricane issues.
They should be able to drive back together, in case...you know.
-
Texas is so big that they didn't even get any rain from Harvey. They did get higher gas prices, however.
-
I LIKE IT! I LIKE IT!!! :) ;) :D ;D 8)
I love that.
Not another one the whole cou the entire country of Australia
I want two please

Hey all,
So an update on the crash that was mentioned. It was involving my Fiero. The impact on my car was at an angle to my front driver side, so with the focus of impact being there, it bent the frame. Besides a few bruises and a few glass cuts from climbing over the center console to get out, neither of us were injured.
The other party is doing fine. She was released from the hospital the same day, and is at home and in good spirits.
My thanks to the folks who stuck around till the accident was all cleared up and helped with stashing belongings and offering up transportation throughout the rest of the run. Big thanks to CowsPatoot and FierFly for transportation back home.
I'm making the trip back out there this Saturday to Transport back the remains of the car. I've had more than a few questions about what my future plans are, and I haven't completely decided. Right now I'm leaning away from getting a replacement fun car, and focusing more on longer-term life plans.
As things with the situation are not finalized, and I was open to hearing feedback/opinion/testimony/accusations/support from everyone who was there over the weekend, I'd ask that we don't have any continuing discussion around the accident.
-

I'm just happy that everyone is doing okay. Paula had a "nice" stripe across her neck from the seatbelt. She looked a bit... uncomfortable.
I hated to continue and leave y'all there, but that is what was requested. It appeared that enough people were sticking around to make sure that everything would be handled, and that nobody suffered any additional unnecessary hardship.
Again... glad everyone is okay. Thanks for the update.
-
Pull the body panels and the right frame shop can fix that. ThaDriver may be able to help. If I could pull my skin off I think I'd go to a frame shop myself. Some of those Medieval torture devices might be able to get the kinks out of my back.
And ditto on what Raydar said.
-
Except for some years suffering japanese imports, I've had a fun car (or truck or bike) since college. I hadn't really thought about it until now. I got rid of the bike when I found I could no longer ride it (can't take kids on it, couldn't ride it to work anymore). I got rid of the truck after a wreck. I got rid of the Mustang after the police wouldn't leave me alone. I got rid of the Camaro because, after having been stolen and recovered, I didn't want what was left. I got rid of the Firehawk after a wreck. Before high school, I had a bike I built, and some other off-road/track vehicles. Those aren't in order.
I've been having ATV fun while my Fiero is away; now I have nowhere to put the Fiero.
Over the years, I've found lots of different ways to have fun with my family. Until the Fiero, I hadn't tried to involve other people, but I'm trying to provide the best opportunities possible for my children. My children are elementary aged. I figure they should understand about cars.

I was wondering where this stuff came from, until I re-read another thread (http://www.gafiero.org/bbs/index.php?topic=2494.msg22231#msg22231). I've been looking for an '88 Fiero Product binder. The product book here was similar, but not specific to the Fiero.
-
Yes, all but the gift certificates came from the Lee Charles Estate, courtesy of his daughter Leslie and long time partner Heidi.
-
Finally, today I got word from the Tshirt printer that he has his printer repaired and has printed and applied the Fiero shield on front of all the shirts. He has all the images for the back printed and will be transferring them to the shirts tomorrow.
-
Shirts were mailed out today. Everyone should have their shirt or shirts in 2 to 3 days, according to the USPS receipt.
-
how come no Georgia peach on the front logo?
-
I had been putting the club logo into the design or including the words "Georgia Fieros" when I used the Fiero logo on the front. In part, it was to entice more people to buy the shirts. I was hoping that they would identify more with the Fiero logo than displaying a Georgia Fieros logo when they weren't actually a part of the club. I forgot to include the club logo this year.
