Title: Need Spindle Nut
Post by: Fierofool on August 21, 2017, 07:29:29 pm
I need a front spindle castle nut for my 87.  One of them can't be turned on with my fingers and I know it will affect the torque reading.  I've installed new front wheel bearings and expect my mini-torque wrench to arrive this week, so I need the nut ASAP so I can get some mileage on the car and retorque them before RFTH.

Anyone have one, know where I can get one, or can someone tell me what the size and thread pitch is.  It's not listed in the P22 Parts Book and the parts stores don't list it.

Put tooth paste (the white kind, not the jell kind) on the spindle threads. Screw the nut on and off a few times. Clean off the toothpaste from the spindle and nut, and see if it now turns easily.

It seems that the threads are messed up a little.  I think it's been dropped at one time and bent one of the castelations for lack of knowledge of what those little things are called.

Thanks.  Paul called and said he has some on his parts cars.  I have to go up that way Thursday and will go by his place.
