Interesting. Anyone know about this?
-
...and they found a molecule of life. So, there is, was, or will be life on Mars?
-
YES!
-
Yes. They say the rover found organic matter. That means that at least at some time there has been life of some form on the planet.

Here's a question: can they carbon-date this matter? It would be interesting to determine the age of the matter. Unfortunately, we may not know enough at this time to be able to make an accurate determination. I'm not entirely certain that carbon dating is always accurate on Earth, much less on another planet. Also, there may not be enough matter on which to run any tests.
Wouldn't it be funny if the next memo is that it was accidental contamination from Earth?

They said it was in bedrock that was something like 3.5 milloin years old. They must be able to do the tests remotely.

Here, it takes weeks to get results back on live people, but millions of miles (however far) away on another planet, results while you wait.
