Title: V8 swap?
Post by: MaxwellSpy on June 15, 2018, 08:43:06 pm
Gearing up to do a sbc 350 carb swap. Engine is currently being rebuilt and kit from Archie's has been ordered. Has anybody here done this swap? Any crazy things I should look out for or be aware of?

Do you plan to cut the frame on the right side?

From what I understand the frame needs to be cut there.

What transmission will you be using?

I'm going to be using the stock getrag with 70k miles on it. From the research I've done the common consensus seems to be the f40 is the way to go. I will probably go that route down the road but for now will stick with the getrag. V8 Archie says the getrag will hold up pretty well. I don't intend to be beating on it much. That might change when I can stab the v8 however. 😁

Search the memberlist for Trinten.  His contact info is there.  He's put a 350 hooked to a Getrag in an 86GT.
