Title: What is THAT?

I see something on the left side of the radio.  Whatever it is, it looks like a keypad of sorts.

I also see that the cover on the steering wheel seems to be twisted.

The leather cover on one of my 85-s twisted like that.  It's common when the filler inside starts to turn to brown muck.

The radio is a full touch pad radio except for the equalizer sliders.  I think it first became available in 85.  I have 3 or 4 of them out in the garage.  The snap membrane would eventually fail and functions failed to work at all or they worked at full blast.  I had one that the volume went to the max on it's own and couldn't be minimized.  Another one had a balance button that failed and it went totally to the right side.

The best thing about them is that they had a high quality Blaupunkt tape deck and the radio had a power boost button.  That was the early subwoofer sound that boosted the bass sound.

I learned something new today.
