Title: AC vent?
Post by: GTRS Fiero on September 02, 2018, 08:50:34 pm
How does the Fiero AC get rid of condensation?

There is a drain port in the housing.  It's difficult to see the hose from the bottom, but I believe it's tucked up near the steering rack on the passenger side.  I tried to find mine from the inside but couldn't.  I need to get underneath and back flush it with air.

My AC drips cold water into the passenger footwell.  Maybe my vent needs a back flush, as well.

That's what's happening with my 87, too.

If you figure yours out before I figure mine out, let me know.  I hope nothing nasty is in that tube.  I guess I could get the Fiero up on the rack and take a look, but I don't want to blow nastiness into the cab.

Seems to be a common problem. Happens in my yellow car when the humidity is high.

Yes, the box gets wet.  Condensation.

I'm curious about the vent on the other side.  If a Fiero did not come from the factory with AC, are the max AC vents still there?  (Intake in the cowl, vent by the gas pedal)

Ductwork is the same in all Fieros.  They all have the defrost, dash and footwell vents.  MAX settings in any vehicle is designed to close off the outside air intake and recirculate the air inside the cabin, whether it be cooled or heated.  Even with an AC equipped vehicle, you can move the temp slider all the way to high temperature with the MAX position activated and you will reheat the cabin air.

One of the footwell vents takes air in directly from the cowl.
