We had a small group for this year's run (some may have been scared by the weather), but the weather where we were turned out to be just fine, and we had a good time.
Put your pictures of the run in this thread. Here are mine. I had forgotten my camera, and my mount for my video camera, so these are phone pictures.
Getting ready in the morning...

On our first rest stop...

We parked beside a rushing river.

Our next rest stop was on the Cherohala Skyway.

A view of the mountains.

This years run of the Dragon was the "cleanest" I've been on, with no slow cars blocking us anywhere. After the Dragon, we stopped at Fontana Dam

-
Sarge's car is looking great!
No one did a Dr. Kimble off of the dam, I hope.
-
6 of 9? Well, maybe the weather was bad where the others were.
-
Enjoyed the photos thanks for sharing. Looks like a grand day out. Would love to have a go but would need a lift.😀
Glad it was a good run and bad weather avoided.
-
You know how many Swaynes were on the run, last year? At the time, TopNotch made a comment about there being enough of them for their own run.
-
You know how many Swayne's were on the run, last year? At the time, TopNotch made a comment about there being enoigh of them for their own run.
4 last year. This year, my brothers went to the 35th instead, and my daughter had other things to do, so only one this year.
-
2 brothers, you, your son, and your grandson? I was comparing numbers. Turns out, you were right.
-
Thanks for the photos.
Turns out Arts in the Heart is being rained on and my daughter's show maybe canceled, but I'm waiting for a new Slave Cylinder to show up anyway.
Looks like fun.
-
Yep, thanks for the photos.
-
Our cars on the Dragon (photos by US123Photos, and provided by Greg, aka CowsPatoot).

-
The Early Arrivals on Friday afternoon. Beautiful weather that remained with us throughout Friday and into Saturday mid evening.

Added 2 more.

And another.

There was also a GT from Ohio and a Cadillac from Ohio that were to join us, but failed to meet up, though they were seen on The Dragon by KillBoy.
This year's players.
Budgetman 72 and his son. (Budgetkid72 :) ?)

Sarge

TopNotch

CowsPatoot and Fierfly

Formula Owner and wife Terry

Roger and Brenda hadn't arrived at the time of the lineup. Though they were as much a part of the festivities, they didn't make the run. They elected to spend some quality time together since they had already been on this particular run in a previous year. We thank both for joining us.
-

I'm guessing this is a greasy fast food joint.
What is that white thing behind/between CowsPatoot's Fiero and Fierofool's Fiero?
I need to get my eyes checked. At first glance, I wondered what that blue thing was coming out of that green Fiero to the right of Sarge's Fiero.
Speaking of Sarge, his Fiero is looking great from every angle I've seen.
-
Good to see the newcomers.
-
Our first scenic rest stop along Whiteoak Creek beside Wayah Road.

CowsPatoot at the Cow Pattie stand

Another rest stop at a scenic overlook on the Cherohala Skyway. Elevation +4000 feet.

While we were on the Skyway, we passed an overlook where several people were waving frantically and one was filming us as we went by. When we made our next quick stop, they pulled in with us but never made contact. They later showed up at our lunch stop and were so excited to see so many Fieros together. They came in just to chat and share their excitement but had to leave to attend a wedding.
This father and son team Sarge Formula Owner is talking with were very intrigued with the cars. They had traveled some distance so the son could compile photos for a photography project.

Giving them a rest and letting them cool down at Fontana Dam, NC

Notice the beautiful sky in the background. Evidence of the quality of the weekend.

-
CowsPatoot at the Cow Pattie stand

Cowspatoot at the cowpie stand. LOL!
-

That's me in the light grey shirt pointing. The son had just made a comment something like, "so THAT's where the engine intake is", pointing at the nose. I told them, no... it's right back here. They were like, "Oh, yeah... mid engine...."
-
Thank you. Duly noted and corrected.
-

Me too. A Fiero shaped hedge in your honour.
Lovely pics
-
I glanced through the pics Sharon took...but still haven't had a chance to organize them in any way. She took 687 pictures...most of them while on the move. Lots of good ones in there. I probably won't get a chance to sort them until I get home next week...but I did zip them up and throw them on the server. You can get them at http://cowspatoot.com/rfth (http://cowspatoot.com/rfth). Warning: it is a 2.7 Gb file. You will be limited by my 10 mbps upload cap, but don't worry about using my bandwidth...I'm not home to use it anyway. The full resolution copies of the Dragon pics are also in that folder.
I screwed up and missed recording the Dragon run...but I got some other good video. However...I recorded it in 1080p at 120fps, and it seems my laptop can't handle 120fps...so I won't be able to edit it until I get home.
-
I haven't had a chance to go through ours either. We MIGHT have some footage of the Dragon. My wife was recording video with her phone, which kept overheating, and falling off the magnetic window mount (it was no match for the G forces).
-
Looks like a good time. Sorry I missed it.
Maybe there won't be any storms next year.
Welcome to all the newcomers!
-
Killboy pictures are available. (Hmm... almost looks like it's standing still, but it isn't!)

-
If it's standing still you really need to do something about that right side suspension. It's sagging badly.
-
My brother seems to think my left front tire caught air. What do you guys think?
-
No. He was too far away to tell.
Did they put the logo on for you?
-

I looked through about 450 of ghem, so far. There are some good pics....and some amusing pics. I'll post a few amusing pics and maybe comments, but leave the good pics for you to post.
-
Did they put the logo on for you?
They offer 3 options: Picture with Killboy logo, picture with no logo, or picture with Dragon logo. The 3rd option cost the most, but it's cool to have it there.
-
Yes, I like that logo.
-
This is all in fun, so don't take these too seriously.
First of all, I think there were like 40 pictures of Roger and Brenda. Apparently, they are particularly important people, or it was particularly important that they be recorded there. Anyway, then there were some pictures with Fierfly hanging out of the window.

WAY out of the window.
Then came a picture where, at first glance, I thought she leaned out a bit too far...

...and rolled over
-
Then Fierfly took some great pictures of the tailgaters

And of the "OBJECTS IN MIRROR MAY BE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR" message on the mirror.
-
And some friendly guys
-
That moment when you're not quite sure what it is

I'm guessing Fierofool ate that.
-
TopNotch sharing his birthday ice cream...

...but only a little bit
-
Those pics were all from CowsPatoot. There are several nice pictures that I'll let him post.
I counted 3 people wearing RFTH shirts.
-
Oh. There were a number of pics (also taken by Fierfly) that seemed to show motorcycles holding up the Fieros.

These two pics are not far apart, but there were probably 30 such pics, spread out over quite a distance.
"...through sunshine and shadow; ride, boldly ride..."
-
For what it's worth, Sharon (Firefly) is a friend of Greg (CowsPatoot), not a Mrs.
Thanks. Corrected. I wasn't entirely sure of her handle.
-
TopNotch sharing his birthday ice cream...
Actually, layers of pastry, strawberries, and whipped cream.
I normally don't eat sugar on a run, because I sometimes get a cramp in my clutch leg afterwards, but I certainly didn't want to waste it.
The clutch leg survived.
-
Well, just so you enjoyed it--the dessert, that is.
-
Fierfly catching a few pics in the side mirror

-
I know we pronounce it F-I-R-E-F-L-Y but she spells it F-I-E-R-F-L-Y. No matter, she's a great photographer and a great lady.
-
Rrgh. That's what I wasn't sure about.
-
US129Photos had a photographer on the Cherohala Skyway, and caught my car in front of the "Indian Boundary" sign. The name "Cherohala" comes from Cherokee, and Nantahala, the Cherokee name for the Blue Ridge Mountains.

-
The yellow in this picture is very different from the yellow in previous puctures.
-
Feel free to post the good pics, too. I won't be able to until I get home next week.
-
Oh. There were a number of pics (also taken by Fierfly) that seemed to show motorcycles holding up the Fieros.
There WERE times that we were getting held up by motorcycles. One time, we got stuck behind a slow vehicle. An SUV, I think (I was near the back). A motorcycle caught up to us, and passed me and Sarge on a double yellow. When the SUV turned off, the group in front of the motorcycle went off and left him, leaving me and Sarge stuck behind him. Luckily, the motorcycle turned off not long after that.
-
There are a lot of good pictures. Can't (web host) post them all.
Sarge's front air dam seems to stick down very far. Is that just a visual thing?
-
He told me that he actually got one from another vehicle and modified it to fit the Fiero.
-
I wonder if it hits going in and out of parking lots, driveways, etc.
-
CowsPatoot

I don't know how far Fierfly was hanging out of the window for this pic.
-

-
I see how this works. After announcing that he has the TP, Fierofool can hop in his Fiero and drive off. I'm guessing everyone followed him when they left this stop. :)
-
Relax. It's a Fiero.
-
There were a lot of turns, but also ups and downs.

And the police
-
In case there was any doubt...

Don't worry. It's chained up. It can't come after you.
-
Interesting:

There was a show?
-
is that 10 MPH?

-

Hmmm. Sarge, those donuts would be much more believable, if your Fiero was on them.
-
is that 10 MPH?
Yes, very tight curve, but that speed does not apply to Fieros.
-
Thanks to CowsPatoot and Fierfly for the pictures. I think I got some of the good pics.
-
There was a show?
The Fiero Show sign has a story behind it, and I'm hoping CowPatoot will come onto the forum to tell it, as only he can.
-
I see you all are using PIP for posting photos. Is that the same PIP used on Pennock's?
-
I think Pat modified it for us. It's hosted on our server rather than on the Kansas server of Pennocks. When you set it into your message, it shows up as Georgia Fieros in the URL rather than Pennocks.
With that being said, you can use our version on Pennocks and many other forums. I've been using it on the Beretta and Camaro/Firebird forums, Pennocks, NC Fieros and the Grassroots Motorsports forums. I don't know if you can use Pennock's version on the others. I uninstalled the Pennocks version in favor of our version.
-
Ok, then... where do I get your version of PIP?
-
When you use our version on other forums, the pictures are still hosted on our server. Conversely, if you use Pennock's on our forum, the pictures will be hosted on Pennock's server.
-
Our version is in the Administrator's Announcement section.
-
I believe that the software is the same, but the config file is different. You can use the same software, with different profiles. Each profile would host on a different server, according to its config.

More wheel lift?
.JPG)
Prior to leaving, I checked and aired my tires to 35psi. While I was at it, I checked the manufacture date. The two front were made in 03-08. Over 10 years old. The two rears were made in 08-11, which would put them at about 7 years old. They haven't been on the car that long, Maybe 4 years, so they haven't been exposed to the elements for the duration of their life.
I can say that they hold traction very well. For that reason, when I had to purchase new tires for my truck, I went with the same brand. KUMHO.
Over the years, the Goodyears, Continentals, Bridgestones and other brands I've used have had problems with weather cracking. But I discovered it wasn't really the weather that was causing the so-called Dry Rot. It was the tire cleaner. Westley's Bleech White, Castrol Super Clean, and others. I discovered this because I was using the same products to clean my engine bay and my rubber products inside the bay were also rotting.
I've since found the only ArmorAll product that I will use. It's called Extreme Wheel and Tire Cleaner. Cleans the rubber well and doesn't etch the aluminum wheels where the clear coat has vanished. I've been using it for a couple years and have seen no degradation of the sidewalls on my tires. If you want a little extra shine, use the Kiwi Shoe Polish foam rubber pads after the tire is dry.
And by the way, for your local source of KUMHO tires, give NorthLake Automotive a call. He's a dealer and could use our support.

Who took that picture?
-
Fierfly got it. It was shortly after we entered The Dragon. Everyone was keeping up with me, so I expect they all experienced the same effect.

The story about the "Fiero Show" sign...
The sign was originally stolen from Fierorama. NIFE has noticed that it was missing, and wants it back. It was decided that it should tour the country before it finds it's way back to them.
-
Cool video! Is there any way to get a copy?
-
It appears that CowsPatoot's check engine light is on, in the video.
-
Cool video! Is there any way to get a copy?
Absolutely...I put a copy in the same location as the pics.... http://cowspatoot.com/rfth (http://cowspatoot.com/rfth). Or....were you looking for the raw video?

No, I don't need the raw video, but the link above was to a Youtube video.
Thanks.

The link has an MP4 file. Just download that file.

The story about the "Fiero Show" sign...
The sign was originally stolen from Fierorama. NIFE has noticed that it was missing, and wants it back. It was decided that it should tour the country before it finds it's way back to them.
Several questions:
1. How long until they noticed the sign was missing?
2. Did the sign vanish before or after the show?
3. Where is the sign headed, next?
4. How did NIFE, um, say they wanted the sign back?
-
1. How long until they noticed the sign was missing?
They noticed it missing that day when they were cleaning up from the show. For the record, it wasn't stolen by me (I have never been to Fierorama).
2. Did the sign vanish before or after the show?
After the show...as the guilty party was leaving the show.
3. Where is the sign headed, next?
It is headed toward The Fiero Factory next...then we will see who picks it up from there and takes it to the next show.
4. How did NIFE, um, say they wanted the sign back?

-

I think Sharon was pointing out that we were hitting the curves hard enough to have windshield washer fluid leaking out.

-
Wow. A year ago! You know, sign theft will suddenly gain popularity.
-
Thanks for the photos. I'm ready to go back! I still don't see how Fierfly got those photos of cars behind her. I'm glad she did. Otherwise, there would be none of Team Formula Owner. :)
-
I like my theory--that she hung hafway out of the window.
-
Most of the pics behind her were done blindly...just holding the camera out and clicking.
-
Will there be a pic of the sign at TFF?
-

If we can get a group together I'm ready to go again. Weather being suitable, how about the last Saturday in October?
-
How many people would make the run again?
