Title: Windshield Washer reservoir
Post by: pgackerman on September 16, 2018, 10:28:31 am

Why is the Fiero's windshield washer reservoir so big?

Is there a story behind it?

Maybe so it can leak out the left nozzle all day, and still have fluid when you need it.

I never thought of the reservoir as big.  Do some vehicles have smaller reservoirs?

I've never compared capacities directly via owners manuals, but I'd say my Fieros reservoir looks larger than my van's or Mustang's.

My Dodge truck's reservoir couldn't even be seen without removing the front end.  I have no idea what size it was.  My Ford truck also has a large one, but not as large as the Fiero.  The 84 Fiero washer fluid tank is small, but that's because of the way they mounted the jack.

I have seen smaller tanks on vehicles but the Fiero's tank holds more than 2 gallons.  It may be for the reason Paul stated.  I know that during RFTH 23 yesterday there were a number of participants that reported their washer nozzles were unexpectedly squirting fluid on the windshield.

I thought I stated that.

Yes, lots of vehicles hide the reservoir between the front tire and the bumper cover.
