Title: PCV differences?
Post by: GTRS Fiero on September 26, 2018, 06:43:45 pm
What is the difference between PCV valves?  If it physically fits and looks the same, shouldn't it work?

That's my way of thinking.

I looked at many (20+) PCV valves today.  All of them fit the Fiero, in one fashion or another.  Each had a different part #, and some looked a bit differently.  All fit in the grommet, and all fit in the rubber connector, but the wide ring was a bit different on some.

I do not understand why there are so many "different" PCV valves.

I'm guessing that some of them have different tensions on the spring. Not like I really know, or anything.

That could be; however, the PCV for the '95 Camaro 3.4 is PCV229, but the PCV for the '88 Fiero 2.8 is PCV307.  All the other 2.8L and 3.1L PCVs were the same as the Fiero.

Today, I wasted about 3 hours with PCVs.  Don't ever go down that rabbit hole.  After that 3 hours, I learned that I wasted 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back.
