As to my question in another thread about an unknown part, things have become a bit more clear now.
And I must say, the PO is starting to P me O!
He obviously replaced the original 88 OPS with an 85-87 OPS, which has a different connector. He cut the original connector off and just crimped on standard connectors. He also only had one wire connected to the OPS, the other 2 were just dangling there.
While I still have the original connector, I still would need the correct wires/colors and to which terminal they connect. Can't find wiring colors in the 88 SM, but I also need the wire colors for the 85-87 connections. Can somebody provide?
Thanks.

How is it, that with only the tan wire (to gauge) connected, all works fine??
-
It's probably because the car had a Previous Owner. :(
-
Because the light and gauge both run off that wire, and the fuel pump runs off the fuel pump relay. I am curious about the power, though. The black wire should have to be connected.

When this thread came up, the February newsletter was well under way, which is why I had something to contribute. The topics themselves were started months ago. It was interesting, how the timing worked.

OK, new (88) OPS has arrived. The old one was making the gauge bounce all over the place - full spectrum.Installed the new one today, no oil light and the gauge goes all the way past 80 to full.
I am having way too many electrical problems with this car!

Did the sender come from the US or was it from somewhere in Europe?

Have you tested with a mechanical gauge?

80 pounds may be normal for an 88 duke in good conditions. Try running it till it's hot, and see if it drops off a little.

My Duke seems to run higher "hot" oil pressure than any of my V6s ever did. 55-60 lbs at idle. At least according to the gauge.
