As most of you know I have whats left of Whodeanies Kermit car. I'm strongly considering putting the wheels and the fastback panels on my 88. If I can duplicate the windshield conversion I will do it too. I will take some pics tomorrow of the windshield setup.
I bought the 88' notchback in Tennessee 6 years ago and brought it back on a tow dolly. It was originally a 4 cylinder automatic and was converted to a series 1 3800 supercharged using a kit from a company called ACE. I have all the paperwork from the conversion. I've never had the car running and driving but did drop the cradle when I first got it and replaced a few mounts and ran all new hoses for fuel, cooling and transmission. I have occasionally put Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders and spun it over till the oil pressure comes up. I believe it will run once I put on plug wires and belts etc. For the life of me I can't remember if I dropped the tank and cleaned it but the fuel pump does run when the key is turned. If you are not familiar with Whodeanie and the Kermit car I believe the search feature will get you some info.

My 88' Notch

Kermit a few years back

The car has the "Rear Hips" kit from Fierofiberglass. The left side hip has been installed and I have the other hip and the pieces that go on the doors. All of these pics are from the Fierofiberglass website and the first 2 are the actual car that I have. Unfortunately I don't have the side scoop quarter panels shown in the pics.

The first picture supplied by Scottb. Notice the Aerodonamic car in front of it. I have that car too but will have to sell it to do this build. Not so much for the money but because of my limited area to park cars. Fierofool offered a place to park Aerodonamic but the cost of all the insurance on all my different cars is getting up there.
I don't have the rear bumper like the one in the pics but do have a F355 bumper that I believe is from Fierofiberglass.

More of the 88' from 2012...

-
I suspect that kissing Kermit wouldn't turn the frog into a prince. ;)
Maybe swap wheels/tires from Kermit to the '88. Then get the '88 running. Then maybe think about body panels. The paint on the '88 looks good in the pics.
-
It's a very poor gold spray over the original red. I would need to strip Kermit of the usable parts and send it to Fiero heaven due to storage constraints. It would be much easier to store the panels than the whole car.
-
Someone rattle-canned the '88?
-
Dean's fabricator "invented" the GT hips. Most of those pieces (hips, rear bumper, and front bumper), were sold to Fiero Fiberglass by Dean, if I remember correctly. At least the hips and the rear.
Personally, I like the look of the base 88 notchie, compared to the Kermit pieces, but that's just me. Everyone has their own preference.
I have an 88 notchie, too, so I'm a bit "partial". It will be receiving a 3.4 DOHC, at some point. And very few body mods.
Don't let the Aerodynamic car get away. All I'm going to say about that one, just now. ;)
-
I agree on the Aerodonamic car. It's almost part of the club.

I have some ideas.
-
Just so I get to see the Aerodonamic car, idea away. It'd have been cool to have met Don, but that ship sailed.

Not rattle-canned but not a whole lot better.
-
The roof does look a bit dark, and I'm not a fan of painted belt trim.
-
You know, a notchie might not look bad with the wing removed and replaced by the edge lip spoiler, along with the decklid scoop and the hood vent like on the grey car. Paul Angel has all that except for the edge lip spoiler (If that is the right way to describe it).

Don was almost larger than life. But probably didn't weigh 140 lbs soaking wet.
He also worked faster than any mechanic I have ever seen. Even in the last few months of his life, he seemed to have more energy than I've had for years.

I've got a pic of my old coupe that I'll have to post later. It had the Sage whaletail, and a Mustang scoop on the decklid.
That's pretty much my favorite spoiler, but I may go a different direction on my coupe.

I have energy. I've been using it to hold my armchair down. Actually, I think my mother has the most energy of anyone I've ever met.

I like the Mustang scoop on the decklid, myself.

This was the little beast. Fun car.
(I just remembered... This whaletail came from a different entity, but I wouldn't be surprised if they got it from Sage.)

It's not showing in my inbox?

Mike, call 4 oh 4 5 three six 8 seven too oh.

Any progress, now that NoMad has picked up some pieces?
-
Can any of the frame rails from Kermit be used on other Fieros?
-
Do you mean the space frame itself? I'm not sure what you mean by the rails.
-
The upper frame rails, which usually rust out. The frame portions above the rear wheels.
-
I'm going to cut up the car so I could save them I guess.
-
Is Kermit gone?
-
No, I still have it but as a parts car only. Mainly the body panels and the front suspension clip. Needs to be stripped.
-
I may know someone with a torch
-
Does Kermit still roll around on its wheels?
-
Yes. Actually I've got to figure out how to get the wheels off. It has special lug nuts and very little room to get any kind of socket on them. I have a thin wall socket somewhere but can't find it. This afternoons project is find the socket!
-
I had a terrible thought on this. For fun, we could have a push race (after the COVID thing ends). We could see who could push it furthest. Those who did not push would have to encourage those who did. Maybe get some high schoolers to do the pushing. $3 per person, per attempt. Maybe promotional value.
-
My son helped me pull the rear clip off yesterday. I'll pull the door skins, cabin wiring harness, wheels and the suspension and call it scrap.
-
Still holding onto the wheels? I think they are perfect for mine as she gets finished up. Happy to pay and even hand you off my current wheels if you need ones to go over the big brakes.
-
You have 1st dibs if I don't use the wheels.
-
Kermit went to Pontiac Heaven today...
-
Ribbet.
-
I need to figure out what brand the coil-overs are.

-
Out of curiosity, what was wrong with the steering column?
-
If I remember right it is a 90's firebird column not a fiero one.

Yes it had an airbag in it so definitely not Fiero.

They might be Held/Ryane.
I remember Dean talking about how he might "acquire" that company, and become the distributor for those pieces. ::) I believe he used their pieces on several cars.
(Someone who knows how to access archived web pages might be able to access older Held/Ryane pages, and compare the pics to the ones that you posted.)
