Title: August Club Meeting
Post by: Fierofool on July 19, 2019, 09:34:05 pm
The August meeting place has been moved to Scott Brown's shop in Cumming Georgia, Hwy 20, Canton Hwy, West of downtown Cumming.  The address is in the main thread.  10 AM.   BBQ for lunch.

It may be a good idea to have a fallback/alternate meeting location.

We could have the meeting at Scott's, and help strip his car.

It's OK with the VP to have it at Scott's. I'm waiting for word from the P.

Maybe the P is catching some Z's.  Still, we have to wait for the P, so he must be a VIP.

Scott's place it is....He will have to post address info and we need a head count so he knows how much steak and lobster to buy.

Maybe post it in the member section.  Surely everyone attending is either a member, or knows a member to call for the address.

Maria will need to be apprised.

We have people who aren't members who can't access that area.  It could be temporarily changed on the home page.  I'll post a sticky in the Events section.

Here's what we will be working with/on.  Water rails are salvageable, the front fascia and front and rear egg crate material under the fascias.  The sheet metal underneath the front of the radiator and fascia that usually rusts.  Brake booster just to name a few parts.

The cradle is to be dropped along with the 4-speed transmission.

Start time about 10AM.

Are we using your tools?
Got an air chisel and a sawzall? (Just in case)

I have 3 or 4 sawzalls, an air hammer, cutoff wheels, and a torch if all else fails. Have access to a plasma cutter too. Not sure on my sawzall blade collection though, might want to bring those if you have them.

If you get the HVAC box out, I'd appreciate some pictures of how the actuators are situated.

I have a head counter.  You depress a lever on the side, and it increments the count.

Hey, Scott, can you put some balloons or something out on the mailbox to make the driveway easier to find?  It's a little difficult, not being able to see the shop from the roadway.

If going west on 20, of you pass the big green sign for the church you have gone too far.... if going east, next drive on the right LEFT past church sign.

When we were setting up the first get together on this car back in January, FieroFool offered to wear his "Dental floss and see thru blouse".
Maybe he can wear that and stand out by the mailbox to mark the meeting spot?

I told Richard what I was going to wear and he decided that he's not going, but Roger is replacing him.

I'm sorry after you drove all that way.  I think all of us had our phones laying over at the far side of the shop on the workbench.  Later, when we were at lunch, Mike21 said he saw a silver Fiero sitting at a gas station that we passed.  Ths was his first meeting so he wouldn't known it was you and were in Scott's and Steve's trucks, so you wouldn't have known it was us.  At lunch I left my phone lying in the truck and never checked messages from the time I picked it up from the workbench.

Anyway, here are some pictures.

Any chance someone could get me a close-up pic of the wiring that sits below the left tail light, and the ground above the right rear wheel?  Not so close as not to show some of the surrounding area.

Scott... You ought to save those A/C lines and the steering rack.
The lines are probably worth something to somebody. And you never know when you might need a rack. Unless you've rebuilt yours.

BTW... Ronnie Fulcher was looking for a fuel tank sending unit.

I believe I left one of the interior door handles in Scott's truck (Nice darn truck too!) or next to the lift.

All in all, it was a good day. Except for Fierofool. Lost a good engine. Perhaps a 4.9 is in the future?

Excuses excuses....... it would be a great pkace for kids, they would get to see tools and how they are used, to see how a car is built, all of which dont happen on a computer
Title: Re: August Club Meeting
Post by: GTRS Fiero on August 14, 2019, 08:45:30 pm
You have met my kids...in a different setting.  I don't recall there being a computer problem.  My kids may be city kids, but they have a fair amount of car knowledge, for their age.  They can use tools, as well.

Working on a car for hours at a time would not fly.  We tried that, already, in 2015 or so.  My son is good for maybe 1 hour.  My daughter?  Maybe half an hour.  Both kids are regularly at shops.  My son and I replaced the front brakes on my truck.
