Paul has finished up the several body mods to my 88gt. Is anyone interested in heading out to see Paul's shop, buy some fiberglass parts or get some work done either the next two weekends.
I'll pay for lunch, drinks and gas..😃
Don't want to uber it that far nor listen to the wife complain about putting up with fieros 😉
Let me know if anyone is interested in such a road trip.
Warmest regards,
Marc

Interested, sure, but gas would be too expensive.

You don't know what you done got yourself into. Wait for it. :)
I'm headed up to Scott's place on Canton Hwy tomorrow but I'm only about 20 miles away from Pauls, so you'd almost be there by the time you got here.
-
At the moment? About 640 miles away. I've wanted to go, but never gotten around to it. You need someone closer.
-
Timing dependant I might be able to. Where are you starting from?

NW Marietta area

So I gather that what you want is for someone to take you from Marietta to Paul's so that you can drive your GT back home, and you want to do it on either the weekend of Aug 31 or Sep 7. Is that correct?

Something like that... ;D

I would help out if I could, but......... next weekend is fully booked with a loooooooooooooooooong huney do list, then I have 2 weeks to get my car ready for RFTH. I was told that I might be looking for abode should I not start working on this list
-
I will know as the time gets closer if I can do it.

I am currently based out of Marrietta and don't mind driving. Weekends are generally tough for me. Do you ever have a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday free?

Unfortunately, weekends are my only free days...

Ok.. I'll throw in a 160K mile Fiero Getrag…seriously..... Decided not to use it in my swap.
-
Hey, Scott or GTXVette, hear that? Scott, upgrade the 86 or John, get rid of the Isuzu in the Grassroots race car.
Are cables and slave mount included with the trans?
-
I can make this Sunday or an evening work if you like.
-
Hey, Zack, if you're finished with my stuff, could you drop it by while you're out this way?
-
I sadly have not done the door rebuilds yet as life has gotten very in the way. Happy to return all of it though and just oder one for my tool box. Can get your stuff to you this week if you like.
-
If you still need it, that's OK. I thought if you were finished, maybe you could bring it back. Did I give you my bottle of Nylog Blue?

Check PMs

You did. I have it in the car to retun to you.
-
Did this happen?

Yup! Had a good drive out and back. Nice lunch and some folks looking over the cars. Marc's sure makes mine stand out as the ugly duckling though.

Yes excellent time making a new like minded friend...
Yeah mine may be the looker but it's beauty is literally skin deep at this point and yours would clean its clock in EVERY other department. Can't wait to see yours after paint....
Mine is still 99% original, literally, under the body and comes with all the fun of 30+ year 165K mile sensors, calipers, oil leaks, sediment filled radiator, pinched coolant tube, wicked exhaust manifold leak, a slushy slush box, leaking egr, dead egr solenoid, sagging springs, oem shocks, oem bushings, intermittent head lights when warm, duct tape on the coolant cross over pipe, and on and on and on.... She got super hot and almost overheated the moment I slowed to stop by Oreillys to get my battery core charge back..
She's definitely getting the 6 Million Dollar Man treatment in the coming months/year...
I'll get some pics up of Paul's work when I give her a bath...
As it was when I received it from Paul Vargyas

That Fiero had 149K miles on it, last I saw it. It was listed as better than excellent condition. That was in 2013. It did look great.

Cosmetically it was a 9 out of 10, mechanically it was a 6.5 out of 10 as it had a lot of hidden issues that were present on delivery and immediately cropped up after part time daily driving. Additionally, for instance, the rear calipers were corroded in place and bores pitted beyond repair without sleeving, therefore no ebrake, and was even rusting through the trunk too.. she was NOT better than excellent... ;)
I'm not complaining...it's still a great 88GT for a quality swap...
-
When I saw the trunk, it looked fine.
That Fiero sat for a long time. I imagine that the calipers ftoze during that time, although he should have known better. Unfortunately, his first wife died shortly after I saw that Fiero. His first wife was a wonderful woman, and everyone who knew her even slightly misses her. She was everything anyone could want in a wife, friend, grandma, etc. The new woman is not like the first wife. Paul had a lot going on in the year after his wife died.

My bad. Different car. The car I saw had a sunroof. Yours has a solid roof.

It has one now.. :)

Paul added one?

Indeed... There were a few faded spots on the roof and I had a sunroof roof from a GT I parted out several years ago... sunroof, modified ausfiero scoops and moldings, and a modified Archie Warber hood scoop were all done by Paul.

Awesome!
