Title: '88 cradle reinforcement

Does the cradle need to be pulled, to do this?

Really depends ob what method you are using. To weld in flat stock it really should be. To seam weld the C channel you might get away with it, but you are right by the fuel tank and lines. If you are just bolting through the C channel methid than you can probably do it in place without too much issue.

So, the weak spot is at the right front of the cradle?

It is the area that the front transmission mount bolts to. Marc cued me into it and my searching found lots of references. I opted to make mine myself out of thicker material and to reinforce the rear transmission mount at the same time just to be safe.
