Title: Pontiac parts and illustration catalog
Post by: The Art Doctor on August 12, 2020, 06:10:26 pm
is the 1984-88 P car Pontiac Parts and Illustration Catalog a useful book to own?  seem to be around $75 to get one in good shape.  It looks to have exploded diagrams and a listing of all part numbers for each part.  I have these types of catalogs for my old boat motors to be able to search by factory part numbers for obsolete parts on eBay and they are invaluable.  Lots of people buy out old dealer stock and list by part number on the packaging not knowing what it is for.

Anybody got one, use it at all?  Don't bother?

All GM divisions had them.  These were kept at dealers in 3 ring binders loose leaf, or some bound with hundreds of pages in the later volumes.  Pretty much a paper version of the old parts files on microfiche.  For the Fiero they have one for each year but they are add on books.  First book 84 only, one that does 84-85, 84-86, 84-87 and the last covers 84-88.

Charlie, Id like to see it in a scan before I shell out cash for a paper copy.  The 88 version is one year only like the car and harder to find and costs a bit more in good condition.

The one I have covers all years - 84-88.
I have found it indispensable, at times. With that said, I haven't looked at it in several years.

This is the one I am familiar with, is it the same as the one you linked to?

I have a PDF of that. Some guy was selling the PDF on CD, on Ebay years ago, and I got one. It all seems to be readable.

Charlie. E-mailed me a copy of his pdf.  It is a bit fuzzy compared to a printed version but useable.  Pat if yours is clear I'd like to borrow it and copy to my laptop.

If you still need this, I have a pdf of the CD.
Comes to 356 pages. A bit over 19 MB.
Quality is... okay. It's almost as good as my hard copy. Not great, but legible.
