Hi All,
I need a motor. Doesn't have to be working necessarily but must be repairable. Any help is appreciated.

I have a couple of unknown condition.
-
I have a bunch, too. Which side? Generation 1?
-
Passenger side 1986, I think my brushes are bad but there could be other issues. I tried rebuilding it myself and now it is not functional.
-
Feel like letting any of your stash go? I would need a passenger side motor. Can the later model motors be adapted to work with these older versions?
-
You can swap out the wiring harness and modules to get to Gen II. The problem is getting the modules and harness. I think the remaining relay is also different, but easy to obtain.

Kevin, if you remove the limiter switch cover, you can peek inside to see if the brushes are still attached. Does the motor run at all? Have you replaced th relay mounted on the side of the headlight assembly? Is the single wire harness securely plugged together?
As GTRS said, you can get a Gen 2 front wiring harness and motors along with the solid state control module from another 87 or 88 Fiero. The solid state modules are more dependable, but like the Gen 1 isolatio module, is no longer made. To purchase one from The Fiero Store is close to $700. USED.
Gen 2 motors are available from auto parts stores for less than $100 each, but won't work with the Gen 1 system.

According to TFS, the modules are new.

IIRC, some other vehicles also used these modules.

I didn't know that.
Some Firebirds and maybe a couple year Corvetes used the module. Later modules look the same but the circuitry is different.
-
Pulling one of these modules from a Fiero is fun, due to the location.
Oh, and the module must not get wet.
-
There is supposedly a compatible module on ebay. I have no idea if it is the correct module, or not. Nothing to do with me.
-
Kevin, I don't think you need a module. The module for the 86 looks very similar to the ones on the side of the headlight assembly. The Generation 2 modules are about 5 iches square and flat.
If your motor was running before your rebuild, I think you may have broken off one of your brushes when reinstalling the limiter switch. Have you checked that as I suggested? If you're still in want of a motor I can bring one to the meeting on the 14th.
