Lots of planning goes into the newsletters. I have some ideas for newsletters for 2021, if they are to continue. Some things were planned, months ago, but many things remain. A few of the things were based off newsletters for 2020, where topics just couldn't be fully covered in a single newsletter. Remaining planning includes cover page pictures, themes, and special editions.
If you have ideas for these things, I'd appreciate the help.
-
Are the articles that are not Fiero-related (such as the groundhog and Valentine's Day articles) appreciated?
-
A little variety is good.
-
Pgackerman hopefully doesn't trademark (or whatever) that word, appreciation. As I read what I'd posted--including that word, it really struck me.
-
How about a list of the themes and articles you’d like to see? This would be a good jumping off point.
-
I need a way to make sure there aren't duplicate articles, and to know who and when.
-
Planned themes for upcoming months:
April - lights
May - scoops
June - wrap-up
July - spoilers & luggage racks
August - towing with a Fiero
September - tires, wrap-up
October - brakes and suspension
November - ground wires
December - splices, wrap-up
Those are the broad strokes. I try to limit the scope, to control newsletter length. If someone can help, I have specific articles that will fit with and support the other articles.
-
Since I'm getting ready for April, any takers?
-
Gabe did some work with dash led lights.
-
Gabe, if you will do an article on lights, I'm looking for a specific reference article. Yes, LEDs, too. I can get you the info for which I'm looking.

Hahahahaa

No takers?
-
I’ve not done anything light related except the headlight motors but that has been beat to death.
-
This is a reference thing.
-
You might need to email HeadHunter1ID as you is not on as much as some of us
-
Good idea. Done.
-
Oh, no one is online as much as some of us.
-
Yeah. If I’m typing and someone starts talking to me I start typing what they are saying. And rereading before I send is too much work. 😂
-
Yeah, I make typo's, and have to keep going back to correct my posts.
-
Unless anyone else has scoop pictures with names & sources for scoops, I only need one more article for May, but this article will probably require phone calls and lots of research online. It shouldn't be a lengthy article (probably 1 page), but I am more concerned about accuracy and thoroughness than length.
-
Don't everyone volunteer at once!

Ok. I need some articles for the June and July newsletters. These can probably be done in 2 hours--if done efficiently.
-
What you got coming up for June?
-
I need the article from May, but sent you a PM.
-
I would like to try to get articles a month ahead. This will hard for me, because, I'll have to keep track of two months' articles, but less stressful than having to plan for articles that may not materialize..
-
Any authors for June/July?
-
June is Wrap-up. Can you elaborate?
List of June/July article ideas?
-
I thought I sent you a list. You replied to it.
Wrap-up means tie up loose ends. Everything I missed in the first two issues of the series. I'm also trying to get a jump on the next month.
I want to make sure I know who will be writing the articles.
-
Well I thought a public list just might inspire someone
-
Perhaps, but I need it to be one person. I need the articles to materialize, and for someone to take ownership of writing each article. There are certain aspects that need to be included, to compliment the other articles. These are mostly about the front and rear compartments.
I would guess some peoole could write these off the top of their head. Most of the articles are likely very short. Maybe half a page each, would be my guess. The exception is the article from last month. I need it to finish off the series. Generally, this is a legal aspect of car ownership.
-
June will be a very tight month for the newsletter. Submissions are due to me by 6/19. 6/20 is Father's Day. The newsletter draft is due by 6/26, but that is the Carlisle weekend. The newsletter is due out by 6/30, which does not give much time for additions, review and editing. I would like to have something from Carlisle in the July newsletter.
-
I'm planning a Fiero Appreciation on Carlisle. I know, you're shocked.
-
Excellent. I'm guessing for August?
-
Sent you an article today, which will be June's Newsletter.
I have an idea for July.
So yes, the August Newsletter will have a Carlisle report.
-
Yes, I saw the alert. I'll look at that article tomorrow.
-
The newsletter is in need of article writers for July. Plenty of topics are available.
Anyone?
-
Can you list the articles here?
-
I'd rather not because I think the drawbacks are greater than the benefits.
-
There are many more topic ideas on the list, but we need authors.
To avoid duplicates and other issues, I need to know who wants to write which article.
-
No takers?

I've done write-ups on adjusting the doors & hood & decklid. Now sure if any of them are here, but they should be on PFF. You're welcome to copy & paste them in the newsletter.
I can no longer access PFF while using Ubuntu since Cliff went to https. If I boot up windoze, I'll try to find them (if I can remember to do so).

I have Ubuntu on one of my notebooks, and have no trouble accessing or posting on PFF with it. What browser are you using? I use Firefox.
-
You may have to enable the newer versions of SSL to access PFF.

I found some short posts. Did you have write-ups with pictures?

My Ubuntu has a problem that won't let me download newer versions of the browser (or any software).

Nope. I just wrote those because I have over 50 years of experience doing so - I wasn't doing the adjusting at the time. ;-)

Often, this is caused by lock files in the temp folder. If so, you can manually clean these up. There is also a cleanup routine you can run.
Another possible issue is the distro/repo. If your distro is too old, you can't automatically install updates, unless you fix the repos. That's a pain. If this is the issue, you can use wget to manually download software, then manually install the software.

How do you want the articles credited?

One thing. 50 years of adjusting decklids on Fieros?

54+ years of building cars & adjusting all the panels to line up & fit right. I rebuilt my first total at 14 yo....
-
In Paul's defense, he used to maintain a fleet of classic Mopars, and they needed hoods and deck lids adjusted, too. The process is very similar on most all cars.

Doesn't really matter, as long as they help folks. "Article written by Paul Angel, AKA Tha Driver."?

Only about 12 or so years on Fieros. Pretty much the same as other cars, but the Fiero decklid IS a bit trickier sometimes, & has it's own nuances. ;-)

Thanks to the quick turnaround on pictures, I think the GFC newsletter was the first publication out with the Fieros at Carlisle event as an article.
Several July Fiero newsletters still aren't out.

No defense needed. Just clarifying.

I realized I botched the credits, so corrected that in the online version today.
