The rescheduled date is October 18-20. Arrive on the 18th, Run For The Hills on the 19th, and depart on the 20th.
I have arranged another block of 10 rooms, but due to the seasonal rate changes, the nightly charge is $150 plus taxes, per night.
The hotel does not have phone service at the present time. It could be back up and running at any time, but there is no projected date as of today, September 30.
To make your reservations, you can try the hotel number at 828-349-9000. If you are unable to get through, then call Jessica, the hotel manager at her personal cell phone. She only has service through her WiFi when she's at home, so if she doesn't answer, leave a message that you are with Georgia Fieros, and she will get back to you when she returns home.

All but one road on our planned route is open, but there is a bypass for that one. That area of NC didn't suffer the damage that the Asheville area suffered.
-
Made my reservations today.
-
Made mine, too.
-
Were you guys able to get through on the hotel number, or did you have to call the manager?
-
I called the manager. She called me back to make the reservation .
-
I got the hotel number. They got service restored on Wednesday morning.

Tail of the Dragon
UPDATE FROM Tail of the Dragon THE ROAD IS OPEN.
DETAILS IN POST BELOW.Okay just got confirmation from our photographers on the scene that 129 is clear and back open. Again as of this morning there are electronic signs diverting trucks around from both sides and officers in position on both ends to ensure that the road stays passable. Thanks everyone for your help and hopefully we can put this behind us now.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: US129 and the Cherohala Skyway are open with no damage from the hurricane. The area with damage and flooding is east of here. Visitors headed this way should carefully plan their route to get here, but all of our roads and businesses near the Dragon are open.

Things are looking good for the run. I plan to be in Franklin on Friday with my copilot late afternoon/early evening . See everyone then.
-
I ran the whole route today. There are no signs of ever being a storm in the area. There were signs of less than a dozen trees that had fallen but that's normal. All our roads are open and in very good condition. I dont know why NCDOT is showing US129 south of Robbinsville as being closed. There are no signs that there might have been a problem in that stretch.

I reserved my room today.
For my last stupid question, are there any more shirts available? Since I didn't think I'd be able to attend until it was rescheduled, I didn't order one...
-
I only have shirts made to order when paid in advance, but because of the uncertainty of the weather, others didnt order, either.
I will be taking orders at the event. There may be an additional mailing cost if the printer doesn't consider them as part of our quantity price break.

working down in Mobile at the museum this week and returning home late Friday. Depending on how exhausted I am and how my back feels I will drive up Saturday early morning. Playing it by ear for now.
-
You will need to be at the hotel by 8 AM.
For everyone else, I'm seeing some postings on other forums that seem to promise some good fall colors.
Everyone should bring some warm clothing. Evening and morning temps are forecast to be in the low 40s.
-
I will be there with my co pilot .
-
Weekend weather forecast is looking good.
-
I'm not going to be able to make it. I had a family emergency last night and it's not going to get resolved in time.
-
Sorry to hear of the family situation. Hope the outcome, however long it takes, is good.
-
Hope everyone has a great Run!
-
It was a beautiful and perfect day. 8:30 and just getting back from some tremendously good bbq to finish the day.
-
Enjoyed the run, the great weather, roads, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. ( And the dinner was pretty dam good also.)
