I've registered the Georgia Fiero Club in the 2011 Atlanta St. Patricks Day Parade. It will be held on March 12, 2011. This is the club's 11th year of participation in the parade.
I registered 12 cars but we can have more if they show up. We would like to have as many cars as possible. If your car cleans up good on the outside we would love to have you, whether you're a member of the club, or not. It is a rain or shine event.
After the parade we generally return to the Galaxy Diner for afternoon lunch. Hopefully, Robbie Finley will be well enough to come down and ride with us.
Sign up here if you want to be in the parade.

Yes.
A friend of mine and I are dressing up like Magnum P.I. and his assistant, T.C. to ride in my 308 replica!

Just be sure to wear a green Hawaiian shirt.
-
I'll be there :) :)
-
Me too.
-
If my car is together, I'm planning on being there.
-
I can't promise anything but I'll try and make it as a rider.
-
Going to be there. Unless something happens with work and we can't make it.
-
Scott, call me please. Six 7 eight, Four 6 seven, One 7 four 2.
-
I will be there Lord willing aerodonamic !!!!
-
I'll be there for sure! Thanks to Robert Finley and many calls to Don Hulse the ol' girl is ready to roll. Where and when do I show up?
-
We generally meet up at the Kroger shopping center on Howell Mill Road, just south of I-75 at about 9am on the day of the parade. When we get down to about a week, I'll send out information to everyone. We group together there, then drive downtown to our staging area to enter into the parade.
Make sure your car is shined up well and if you want, have some suitable decorations to put on it when we get to our parade entrance point. We usually have a couple of hours waiting before we enter the parade.
-
I'm still getting closer to getting all my rehab finished. So I should be there.
-
I am trying to make it could someone call me to give me more info. 404-4 zero two-seven 737. thanks Brian.
-
For everyone, Brian and I just talked and he, his wife and 2 children would like to be in the parade. Can't be done in one Fiero, so does anyone have a Fiero that one of them could drive in the parade? An extra car or if you're not attending, maybe loan them yours?
-
I won't be able to make it. Until I get quite a bit better I'm just going to sit back and watch everybody have fun. I'm going to sell most of my parts and cars but all I take in has to go into a trust fund. Dereks taking over the ETFC and I'll just be a quite member. Seems everytime I post it get turned into my lawyer or my wife and I catch heck. So I'm backing out of evrything until it calms down here. Seems the lawyers are watching everything I post so thats going to be cut back also. I've always had a great time here but I've got too many reporters cutting me back. Everything I sell the money goes into a trust fund that I can't do anything with. You all are a great bunch of friends and I will keep in touch somehow.

My car isn't shiny enough to be in the parade, but, does anyone have a passenger seat that I can fill ?

Cover it with shamrocks, green streamers, etc., and it will be fine.
-
I use to have seats, but I'll have to check it out again when I have the lights turned back on.
-
mines not painted so i won't be there, how about the little duce coupe?
-
The Coupe isn't registered.
-
Hey, the new guy here ;D
I'm still swapping panels from my 86 to my 84. If I don't run into too much trouble anymore, it'll be painted and shiny by parade day. Wish me luck.
Wanted to thank Charlie and Don for their hints and tips and preventing me from making a total fool of myself.
I have a web site that shows the progress I'm making, so feel free to visit here:

Thanks for the compliment. That's what everyone here does. I quote from our club creed:
Our club is a place to meet people who love a vehicle that endorses fun and excitement, and for enthusiasts to obtain help and information on repair and maintenance, as well as insight and history of a vehicle that has captured the hearts of a select few throughout the years.
As always, if you have questions, ask. Post in the forum with any problems. Also, you may want to start a build thread on this forum, too. Looks like your 86 was a base coupe. It definitely doesn't have SE trim.
-
Hey, there will be more St. Pats Day parades. Hopefully, she won't have any more weddings, so go and enjoy this one. Hope to see you in April.
-
I'll be there in my black 87 GT. Sorry to hear you can't make it Robert. it's because of you my car is back on the road....many thanks. I have some 2 way radios if anyone needs to borrow one, i'll charge them . Anyone who needs to get ahold of me please call 615-473-6150. Also if there is anyone out there with a grey seat bottom for the drivers side let me know, mine has developed a rip since I drive my car everyday. Can't afford new covers since I am getting married in April and have a baby on the way. The wife to be enjoys my hobby though and wants to ride along in the parade. I'm a lucky man!
-
GMguy1987,
I've got two seats, passenger seat is perfect, drivers seat bottom is perfect.
If you want to come look at them/it, let me know.
\D
-
For informational purposes, the covers are interchangeable from right to left. We often use a good seat cover from the passenger side and install it on the drivers side.
-
I have a 86 se v6 with new paint and custom exhaust that I just finished. Car is suuuper hot lookin and near perfect inside and out. I will love to be in parade for the 1st time.

-
i think rat pee meant that he would ride with someone if they had a empty seat he could fill, i don't think i'll be making it to the st. paddys parade cause i'm having transmisson problems. ammco and the place i bought the fiero from are talking about $1000 to $2000 dollars to pull the transmission and fix it and put it back together. sure do miss don hulse working on these cars.

We will meet at the Kroger Store, 1715 Howell Mill Rd NW Atlanta, GA 30318-3113 on Saturday morning.
Coming South on I-75, take Exit 252 Howell Mill Road ramp. Turn right at the end of the ramp. Move to the left lane on Howell Mill. At the next traffic light there is a bank. Turn left and go around behind the bank into the Kroger parking lot.
If coming South on I-85 split North on I-75. If coming North on I-75/85, split North on I-75 and take Exit 252B Howell Mill Road. Turn left across the bridge and go through the first light. At the next traffic light there is a bank. Turn left and go around behind the bank into the Kroger parking lot.
Please be there by 9AM. Generally folks want to run into the Kroger, etc. before we leave. We should be downtown in our staging area around 10AM. We will depart Kroger together. If you are late, you may have difficulty grouping with us due to the other vehicles that stage in the same area. It can take a lot of work to move a bunch of cars to make room for another, so please be on time.
Please confirm your attendance by posting just your name here.

They do not allow tossing or handing out candy. They're afraid of kids getting hurt by tossed candy, or getting sick on bad candy.

First, the bad news. I only have one person to carry our banner. I'm waiting on a reply from someone to let me know if their daughter will help.
The good news. The forecast for Saturday is Sunny and 65 degrees.
-
More good news! Pat contacted his neighbor and one of their daughters will be helping to carry the club banner in the parade.
-
I'll be there.... Jerry
-
My car will be there. It is still up in the air whether I will be there or not.
My neighbor, whose daughter will be holding the banner, will drive my car if I can't
-
I'll be there.

Cary

60 percent sure I will be there
-
Good news, weatherwise:
Weather.com says sunny, a high of 70, and zero percent chance of rain for parade time tomorrow...
-
Won't be able to make it. Drove the car home tonight an having some type of issue with the power.
Scott

You guys looked good in the parade ! Waxed up and shining in the sun ! Crowd comments were good, too. ;D BTW, did you see the Scion club ? They must have had 80 cars in their group. Except for the few that were customized aftermarket, (many were just plain old stock models) they simply had numbers to make themselves stand out. Even heard one guy say "why are they in the parade?...nothing special there". As opposed to his comment on the Fieros, "Wow, I haven't seen one of those in years...they look really good." I'll try to get my pics up of your cars as you passed by me.
Tom
-
Thanks for being there, Tom. I was really surprised when I saw you. I would never have picked you out with that shaved head. I recognized your voice is why I turned to look.
Maybe we can take all the pictures everyone made and put them into an album on the home page.
-
Really sorry we missed it and the meeting afterwards, had a slight emergency we had to attend to.
-
It was a good one. We were group 78 and we were about midway of the parade. Here's a few shots.

I don't think the weather has ever been better for a St. Paddy's Parade. Lots of fun and a huge crowd turnout. They looked like they were having fun too!
The comments from the crowd were very positive. (Including a couple of slurred speech "Ferrari" references.)
The announcer toward the end was really funny: "If the Fieros and the Scions got together, they could take over the world!" or words to that effect.
Thanks Charlie!

First, yes, THANK YOU FIEROFOOL AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED ORGANIZE AND PARTICIPATED!
And, a special Shout Out to RAT PEE Himself for being there to cheer us on!
Leading the back of the GFC contingent, "T.C." and I heard a lot of the crowd comments, ranging from "That's not even a REAL Ferrari!" to "Hey, Magnum P.I.!"
One lovely brunette even ran into the middle of Peachtree St and yelled, "KISS ME, MAGNUM!" and stuck her head inside my window and laid one on me!
Of course, she was the one to whom I've been happily married to for 20 years ... despite the rumors FieroFool started at my first GFC meeting, there is no secret second wife named "Suzie."
One guy came up to the staging area and wanted to know if these were "Lotuses." T.C., told him, Oh, no, these are much better... they're FIEROS!
You are a great bunch of guys and gals, and this goes down as one of the most fun St Patrick's festivities that THIS Irishman has ever enjoyed!
Fiero Go Braugh!

This was the best day we've had since they moved the parade from Buckhead to Downtown. Even the pigeons that usually sit on the lights overhead just waiting on us to get the cars shined and decorated had taken advantage of the good weather and took the weekend off.
I did nothing but put out a call for you guys to show up. You all are what made the group. Without you there would have only been me. I thank all of you for having the club spirit and the willingness to participate.

Damn, no one called or e-mailed me? I forgot that the parade is usually before St. Pats, ah well. The clear is going bad on the roof of my '88GT anyways, and I sold my '86 Fiero about a month ago, so I guess I couldn't have really participated anyways. I also haven't washed my '88 GT in months :'(.
I could've come out in my MR2, but I bet you guys would've lynched me lol ;D. Its green though, so it would've just blended in, and if anyone asked I could've just said it was a kitcar ;D.

So many people have changed their emails and haven't updated their profile that I quit sending emails. I deleted the ones that kept coming back as undeliverable. All my emails to you had gone unanswered for quite some time, even when I was trying to hook you up with Lee.
Because there are so many that aren't registered with our forum, I started this thread back in January hoping that anyone interested would at least check the forum at least once. Since everyone has different questions, it's best to ask and answer them on the forum so everyone can get the same information. Sorry you missed a very impressive crowd and a wonderful day for a parade. A little paint fade on the top could have been covered with decorations.

What e-mail address did you send those e-mails to? nathanjames@netslinger.com ? I haven't checked that e-mail in years, my current one is my username, at gmail.com . I don't like just posting it on the web, that's one way spammers get your e-mail address. In fact that's why I stopped using that old e-mail address, I was getting around 50-100 spam messages a day and not much else, so eventually I just stopped checking it. I guess it was my fault anyways, for some reason I thought that since St. Patrick's Day is later in the week this year that the parade might be on the 19th, so I didn't check gafiero.org until today.
-
I've tried netslinger, gmail, and I think there may have been another. At one time I even tried contacting you through Seth.
The parade is always the Saturday before St. Pats Day unless St. Pats falls on Saturday. Mark your calendar for 2012.

Here's a video from the parade:
