Title: '92 Sunbird 5-speed transmission for sale.

5-speed out of a '92 Sunbird LE - that's a 282 Getrag, right? I have a friend that lives near me that has one in excellent working condition for $200 OBO.

Is the engine in the Sunbird a 4 or a 6. The gearing in the Getrag will be different depending on which engine is in the car. A transmission geared for a high-revving 4 won't be the best thing for a 6.

It would likely be from a 4 cylinder.  I believe they dropped the V6 from the Cavalier/Sunbirds around 88.  If they did drop the V6 as an option, then there would only be 1 transmission.

 The last  time I had contact with one these cars was a friends 1993 sunbird with a 3100 V6 engine and a ISUZU transmisson  Hope this helps Don

hey don i'm stuck with a transmission problem, seems sycro is gone between 3rd and 4th. probably other stuff wrong with it. i know you can't work on that stuff any more, have you got any suggestions, fix trans or replace trans ( i have that izuzu 5-speed ). sure do miss your help on these cars. AMMCO wants a $1000.00 dollars just for labor. i guess i'll have to park it and start messing around with the 88 gt.

OK I finally remembered to ask & the trans came out of a 4 cyl. car.

My helper & I can do a trans swap for you for $400-$500 labor. I sent you an email.
