I have had the absolute worst day ever.. I have a black 87 GT and it's my baby, I have rebuilt every single part on this car and drive it daily as it is my only transportation. Today I came home for lunch and parked up near my parents garage. I walk in the door of the house and I hear a BOOM. I look back to see that my parking brake gave way and my car rolled down our driveway and into my parents Gazebo. It hit dead center rear of my car ruining my hatch and rear spoiler, bumper and taillights. I am completely heartbroken as I had just finished restoring the car and was looking forward to being in this parade coming up. Unfortunately it looks as if I will have to put the car away for now as I am soon to be married and have a baby on the way. Maybe in a few years I can afford to fix her up again but time as well as my budget wont allow it for now. I have my dads old yard truck to drive for now but I am really sad because I wanted my fiero to be the car I drove my wife away in on our wedding in april, she was looking forward to that.....I suppose some things were just not meant to be. You guys are the best I really mean that. I will hopefully make it to a few meetings this year, just unfortunately not in a fiero.

Bummer! On the brighter side, if it hit dead center you probably didn't break the rear clip. Center damage like that is pretty easy to fix. RockinRoger of this club suffered the same consequence but with a little more damage when his Formula rolled across the street and centered one of his neighbor's big trees. ThaDriver repaired it for him.
I have a pair of tail lights that have some delamination, but they are functiional. They'll help with getting started on the repairs until you can get a decent set. I know of a few other club members who have a deck lid and rear fascia they would probably sell. I have a wing. Where do you live?

i'm in Fayette County. Unfortunately like I said I don't have a lot of money to spend on fixing the car. I dropped nearly every spare dime I had into fixing it and restoring it. I sincerely would appreciate whatever anyone could help with though. Thank you for the support.

I've got a red and a black decklid you can have. Either one for $20.00. Cheap enough?

Email me. Photos would be a great start if you can take some. I have most of the parts you need, probably everything the other's don't have. Between us we can find all the parts to fix it pretty cheaply. The next question is how bad is the damage: does the frame or trunklid sheetmetal need repair?
We can work together to put everything back, if you have the time to come here & work on it.
I'm always interested in partial trades for parts & labor if you have anything. I have a loooong list of things that have crapped out on me or I need more of, like electronics/video games, tools, parts for several cars (different types), building materials, etc. etc.
You can email me at ImThaDriver at yahoo.

Just a thought. What insurance coverage do you have? If you live at your parents' home, it may be covered under their homeowner's insurance.
Though it's too late, never trust an emergency brake to keep a car from rolling backwards.

thank you so very much. yes I can definitely do twenty bucks on a decklid. there is sheetmetal damage . the trunk is partially dented in. I will e-mail some pics this afternoon. I think we can work something out I am a collector of sorts and have a little bit of everything car related. If you would please e-mail me your phone numbers. thanks again....Jeremy

Don's deck lid is for a notchback and won't fit the fastback.

sorry, cranial flatulence ;D
In that case I regretfully don't really have any body parts you can use. Would have loved to help out.

I didn't get a chance to take pics today. I will get out there tomorrow and do so. I think my hatch hinges are bent as well as the decklid is extremely close to the rear window. Are those tough to change? I have heard that you have to be careful removing them as they can smash the back window. I have a welder and a porta power so I can do some of the metal repairs but I will need a little guidance on the best course of action for that. I have misc parts I would be glad to trade but we can discuss that when the time comes. I am afraid I may have to replace the entire rear fastback section as the center is pretty busted up where the taillights mount. I may have an extra set of GT tail lights laying around too. Again I really appreciate any help at all. I miss driving my car already....

I just wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciate all of the feedback and support that I have gotten so far. I really can't even begin to express how much it means to me that you guys have all been so helpful. I hope I may be able to do the same in turn to repay you one of these days. I hope to get my baby going again soon.

He came by Sunday & we got enough done so that he can finish it at home. Had to cut out the rear of the trunk on my custom car, which I didn't really want to do but I kinda wanted to enlarge the trunk anyway so now I'll have to. ;)
But I was able to come up with all the parts he needed except the bumper reinforcement.
I'm sure he'll post here again soon; right now he's probably busy trying to finish the repairs.

He emailed me from his phone. Hasn't got internet at his apartment yet. He said he finished welding in the trunk sheetmetal & reinforcement. So it shouldn't take him too long to get it put back together.

sorry it has been so long since I last posted.I just got internet again. I just moved to an apt with the wife to be so progress on the car has slowed. To Paul "tha driver" thank you again. Let me know if you still want that t-5 trans. Like I said I wanna make sure we are square so if you want me to send you a check or something let me know. The plans are to paint the car once the pollen is done falling. No luck opn the rear bumper reinforcement yet. I haven't had the time to look.
