Production suspended. Not available at this time.
-
Glad to see this FINALLY! Now I dont have to scrounge all over creation and BEG someone to make these for me.
-
The second production run is heading to the machine. Production should begin on or about February 20.
-
Awesome, I'll probably be starting my 7730 swap this weekend. While out at the salvage yard I picked up enough parts to do a second conversion. So if all goes well I'll be interested in another adapter plate. I should be a pro at this in no time. ;D
-
-
Any updates on these?
-
Aren't you the one making them?

Scott, we've sold 4 of the last batch you made. No comments from anyone so far. There were two single sales and one double sale.
-
I found it amusing that there hadnt been a comment here in almost 3 years so I was rattling the cage.
-
Most people order from The Mall on Pennocks and aren't registered here, so they can't post comments or ask questions here. I can only think of 3 of our active members who've done the conversion. Ron768, ronf85gt and OldOne.
I have everything to do mine, including DIS, but just don't have the funds to pay someone to do it.
-
:(
-
You can't really say this person is active, but here's a pic:

Updated look:
-
what happened to the distributer?
-
It's in the trunk.
This uses coil packs, or DIS (Distibutorless Ignition System). The distributor is no longer required. Nor is the failure-prone ICM. You can see the coil packs at the bottom of the picture, against the trunk wall. Their ICM is the base of the coil pack.
-
The system is DIS (Distributorless Ignition System). The distributor is replaced by those coilpacks you see. Your 85 most likely didn't get the DIS system because there's no provision for a crankshaft sensor unless an aftermarket unit is mounted on the timing cover and a reluctor wheel is also mounted on the balancer to trigger the spark.
-
OK. I ordered one, so I guess it'll be Scott's.
-
Bump.

Are all of those on the list compatible with the 7730 ECM conversion?
-
Not the car. The digital EGR. It is the same part, so yes.
-
Get 'em while they're hot
-
When you get the digital EGR valve, be sure to get the main harness that plugs into it. Cut 6 or so inches of wire to go with it.
I kept the one that came off my 3.4 but I've also collected a few more just in case it was a bad EGR. At the time I got mine about 5 years ago there was no trouble in finding them all through the Pull a Part yard. Most late 80s-early 90s seemed to have them.
-
I got my EGR new. The pigtails were available new from buywiring.com, but no longer.
-
Since I haven't seen your Fiero, Scott, I don't know. Do you have a digital EGR on yours?
-
No, mine is still vacuum. ....... that doesnt work so well
-
Well, I can say from experience that the digital EGR is more aesthetically pleasing.
The vacuum EGR seems to always be rusty, although I did see someone had a chrome EGR.
-
I have what appears to be a chrome EGR valve. Many GM cars had a black plastic cover that snapped over the EGR valve. I don't remember where I got the chrome one. It was given to me by someone.
-
I had the cover. One corner melted slightly.
I have not been able to find a cover for the digital EGR.
Anyway, bumping this to the top.
-
Some of the vehicles did have a cover over the digital EGR valve. If you look closely, you can see the tangs on each solenoid where the cover snaps over it. I don't recall seeing one on an EGR valve, but I do remember seeing pictures of them.
-
Yes. You and I discussed the digital EGR cover, about 2 years ago. I was never able to buy one from a reputable place. Although I looked through hundreds of GM vehicles at 2 junk yards, I never found such a cover. I'm considering making a cover, though.
-
Digital EGR with decorative cover:
-
Yes...now I just need to make that.
-
We have a new run just off the machine. Due to dwindling demand, this may be our last production run. Only 12 left as of today.
-
Excellent! A planned article will detail this adapter.
-
...explain the shininess with "The old one kept blowing gaskets so I had to get a new one."
Funny. Almost what happened to me.
-
I wonder if an updated EGR routing sticker would be possible.
-
It's certainly possible, but may be illegal. I contacted someone who was doing reproduction stickers throughout the Fiero. Things like the tags for tire size and pressures, the coolant stickers up front, etc. I asked about the RPO sticker on the left front fenderwell and they said it was illegal to reproduce it.
I'm sure that someone somewhere would be willing to make one, of course.
-
Currently, there's a discussion on PFF about the adapter kit and California emissions. We have sold a number of units going to California, so certainly some if not all are getting emissions approval. There is a photo posted of the emissions sticker that's supposed to be on the decklid of a Fiero and it clearly shows the stock EGR system. That sticker could be modified and reproduced to show the old vacuum lines removed, along with the solenoid and distributor and a EGR valve/solenoid in place.
One scenario I presented on PFF is that a Duke emissions decal be placed on the decklid with the explanation that the decklid had been replaced at some time. Only a Fiero knowledgeable person would know that a Fastback decklid never came with a Duke engine.
-
So on vista print you can duplicate anything but you check a box saying you have the right to print it. If it’s just for you then I suspect you will not get in trouble but print 1000 and I can see that raising a flag.
-
Here's a decal that doesn't show any components of the emissions system. Some of the info on it might be adulterated, like reference to 3.1 and 1988 model year.

JohnWPB had offered RPO stickers. I have one. It is slightly a different size. He said just stick it over the existing sticker. There were some issues with his sticker, and the factory sizes apparently varied.

I want a sticker that shows the current EGR and belt systems.
-
Yes, but not quite correct, for mine.
-
Did I read, somewhere, that these are engraved, now?
-
Yes, they are engraved. The last dozen I had made, I asked him to engrave Georgia Fieros into it. He left off the "S" so it's just Georgia Fiero. It was originally to have Georgia Fieros laser-burned around the outer sides, but he forgot. It was easier to set up the engraver than the laser.
-
Hmmm. Next time Ixm down there, I'll pick up a spare.
-
There are only two EGR Adapter Kits remaining. I thought I'd put out the notice to club members before I announce it on Pennocks. If you want one, now's the time.
-
Just checking to see if you got my order. Placed it yesterday.
-
Tim, I already have it boxed to ship. Thanks for the order.
-
Just received another order. Last chance. Only 1 kit remaining.
-
OUT OF STOCK. OUT OF STOCK. OUT OF STOCK.
