If any paid members are interested in having their Fiero(s) including in a 2012 photo calendar for the Georgia Fiero Club, please post your comments.
My thought is to have a calendar printed featuring members' Fieros, to be sold at cost or maybe above with the extra going into the club coffers.
This project would have to be done before we lose the summer sunshine and vivid colors. I would be happy to do the photography without copyright claim, although you would have to sign a release granting non-compensated limited usage permissions to the GFC.
Here are a few shots I took of my car, so you can see the quality:
http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/creativeapps/slideShow/Main.jsp?sourceId=533754321803&cm_mmc=eMail-_-Share-_-Photos-_-Sharee (http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/creativeapps/slideShow/Main.jsp?sourceId=533754321803&cm_mmc=eMail-_-Share-_-Photos-_-Sharee)
We would also have to come up with an interesting and photogenic background for each Fiero (beautiful lake in the background, on a race track, etc.).
Please let me know your interest, comments, ideas and suggestions...
Best,
Fiero GTB

All I got from the link was a white page. My thoughts about limiting to paid members is that it might limit the available cars. Some of the non-members have some nice cars. Jeff and Theresa have a nice 87, Ron Rizzi has 3 nice cars, and there are others.
-
Here is my 2cent. I think that is a great idea. I would buy a few, I just wish mine had a good paint job so I could actually be in it.when would you want to shoot? I have acess to some pay only areas on Lake Allatoona and several wooded areas.
-
I like the idea
-
All I got from the link was a white page.
Same for me.
But we would participate also
\D
-
I think you could attract more participants if it wasn't limited to dues paying members. Maybe even accept some good quality digital photos submitted by the owner who may not be able to make a photo shoot, subject to your approval of quality and content, of course.
-
Please try cutting and pasting this link into a browser for samples of the quality I would like to see for the GFC Calendar photos:

All good points... although, personally, I still believe participation should be limited to dues-paid members because, otherwise, why join if you can participate in special things like this without paying annual dues?
Of course, I will go with club concensus. ;- )

I tried PIP, and posting to the GFC Photo Gallery w/o success. I might have to phone you tonight to see if you can help me trouble shoot if that's okay?

Any progress report on this?
-
Sorry, guys, I've had to hit Pause on this one. We had to abandon our condo to have some repairs done, so Nancy, Susan, Fifi, et al. and I have been living in a hotel with our two Maine Coons and it looks like it might continue through the end of this week. I will be lucky to show my mug at C&O this Sunday. Will keep you advised.... ;- )
-
Hey Tim
Are things OK again with your condo?
C&O this weekend?
Progress on the calendar?
Let us know.
\D
-
I just got a notice from Southeastern Wheels that the C&O is cancelled for this month. Seems they had some problems with burnouts, speeders and wrecks. They're searching for another location for future shows.
-
A shame that the stupid few always ruin it for the rest. Yes, I read the update this morning on C&O's website also.
Too bad.
\D
-
Maybe they could hold it at the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce and have the exit lane down the strip.
-
From Tim...
We are moving forward on producing a Georgia Fiero Club (GFC) 2012 wall calendar, featuring photos of paid-up members
-
Thanks for posting the photos for me, Pat!
There is still some discussing re whether or not being featured in the calendar should be restricted to paid members, so we can hash that out at this Saturday's meeting.
Best,
Fiero GTB
-
PLEASE LET ME (FIERO GTB) KNOW IF YOU WANT TO RESERVE A SPOT IN THE GFC 2012 FIERO CALENDAR!
IF YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR MONTH YOU WOULD LIKE TO RESERVE, LET ME KNOW AND I HOLD THE SPOT FOR YOU IF NO-ONE ELSE HAS ALREADY REQUESTED IT.
IF WE FILL UP THE CALENDAR, WE MIGHT LOOK INTO DOING A 24-MONTH CALENDAR.
BEST,
FIERO GTB

That's one sharp looking car. ;D
-
From here on out we'd like June & October for every year we ;D do this
-
I may be up for it next year, after I get my Gold Fiero GT completely restored from the ground up, inside and out. 8)
-
since i am a paid up member and have 3 fieros without paint i would like to know if you run short of cars if a friend of mine whose an unpaid member could use his car on my dime?
-
Okay, I think it's time for our club board to make an executive decision. My view from the beginning is to limit this as a benefit for paid members, and I know others want to open it up to non-members, and your situation is right in the middle. ;- )
All I really wanna do is help take photos for anyone who doesn't already have one to submit, or who doesn't have a high-res camera.
Board, can you please make a final ruling and post it in this topic?
Thanks!
-
BTW, I will go ahead an hold a spot on the calendar under your name. :- )

Hey Tim,
If we have a decent turn-out at the picnic, I'm sure one or two good photo oportunities might present themselves there too for some pics for the calendar
\D
-
Tim, when and where would you like to do a shoot on my 87?
-
Time is of the Essence:
I just finished the photo of FieroFool's GT taken at Chateau Elan for our upcoming 2012 club calendar.
Even though is seems as if we have plenty of time, we need to get any photos you might want me to take before we lose the bright sunlight and colors of summer! Read that within the next 2-3 weeks.
If you already have a GREAT photo (read the technical requirements earlier in this forum) please e-mail it to me... if you want me to shoot one for you, then we need to get into high gear, please!
The following have pages reserved, but no photo yet:
WhoDeanie
AeroDonamic
Silver88
The Don
Duchess
OldOne
We still have 3 pages available...
Photos for the following have been submitted:
FieroFool
FieroGT
TopNotch
THANKS!
Fiero GTB (Tim)
-
If you have a photo or car that you don't think is quite good enough, don't worry. Tim is a master at PhotoShopping.
-
I have a gold 86 GT that I'm getting ready to have completely restored, along with 4 more Fiero's of different years, at WhoDeanie's, hopefully in the next month or two.
-
Tim,
Bring your camera to Run For The Hills. There will probably be some very good photo opportunities in the hills.
-
Tim, don't forget I got July... :)

Yes, I have July reserved all for you!

I've already washed my hands for this week, so I still had your e-mail address. ;- )
Silver88 (Jeff) had April reserved, but said it didn't really matter, so I moved him to November and reserved April for your photo. So you have him to thank for his flexibility!

man, I would love to have mine in there but I dont know if your photoshop is that good ;D

Tim, how close are we to being able to start layout or printing?
Not very close, I'm afraid; I have yours and mine done.
I still have TopNotch's (which won't take long), AeroDonamic's, The Don's, The Duchess', Meatloaf Sandwich's and Raydar's to Photoshop. And I still need to shoot 85GT's.
Can you give me a deadline, and I'll work to meet it? And if I see I can't, I might ask if there are any other Photoshoppers in the club...
Fiero GTB
-
Deadline should the day before the first day on the calendar :D Hopefully more will order one than just the folks who have cars in the calendar.
-
Any updates Tim?
\D
Not like there's any pressure on you regarding this ;D
-
Do you need more cars for the calender? My Indy cleans up well enough to photograph it. Also, I just painted Dale's '88 GT & he said he was going to post here (but I don't see it).

My apologies, all... it has been on hold. My boss has decided that I have other priorities right now, and my mortgage company and utility companies have sided with them.
I PROMISE I will keep plugging away! If there is anyone out there who's good at PhotoShop, I will gladly split the workload...

For anyone who still wants a photo taken, I will be at Caffeine & Octane this Sunday, November 6 from 7:00 am - 11:00 am with camera in-hand...

I feel terrible, but I have been working horrendous hours, and I just don't see much of a let-up before the end of the year. Not good timing to publish a calendar, I know.
I just don't know what to do, fellow Fieroians... I will see what I can get done before this Saturday's mtg.
Meantime, please give thought to anyone you might know who's good at Photoshop, and would be willing to finish up some of these...

I have Paint Shop Pro. I'll have to see if it will load a PSD (probably will).
I do have a Photoshop bootleg that I bought on ebay as a legal version, but I've never installed it. (BTW, When I reported it ebay, Adobe, & the police did nothing.)

We will need to get some thumbnails up of the cars that will be on the calendar so that people can see what they'll look like and we can start taking orders. Unless we have orders for like 50 or more, the cost of them will be somewhere in the $20-25 range.
-
I have replaced some screwed up parts on mine and did some other work since the pics I sent in so I will send new pictures today or tomorrow-ish. the car looks alot better now :)

I sent some good pics of mine now that the bad stuff has been replaced, but I haven't heard anything yet
-
I had posted this earlier, but I don't know where it went. Let me know if you find it in another thread somewhere.
The pictures of the cars are low resolution prints, but you can see what will be on the calendar. They will be good high resolutions. The calendars will be 8 1/2 x 11 wall calendars. Each car will have a full page print and the calendar for that month will be on a separate page.
While Paul is finishing these off, if it's not too late for him to insert some information it would be good if each of you would list the following information. Example:
Username: Fierofool
Real Name: Charles Sewell
Car: 87 GT
Max. 2 major Features: 3.4 Firebird Engine, Mr. Mikes Leather
I need to know how many will DEFINITELY purchase a calendar if we can keep the price under $25. I'm sure we can, but the more calendars we order, the cheaper. I really think we can get under $20. No Maybe's. I need a solid commitment.
-
we will take at least 3, possibly 4. Committed
\D
-
I will commit to two.
as far as extra info, as soon as I know if mine will be in, I will send it

Month: June
Username: The Don
Real Name: Don
Car: 1985 GT
Awesome Sound (inside & out)

Month: October
Username: Duchess
Real Name: Anne
Car: 1984 Coupe

ML:
Yes, we got your photos and I thought I replied that most were unusable (out of focus), but there was one really great shot, which I started to Photoshop.
Then, as John Lennon said, "Man, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans..." and my work and personal life went crazy, so I turned everything over to the very capable hands of ImThaDriver, who has been burning out mouse batteries at an unprecedented rate trying to get everything finished.
Now, I must tell you, this has all been done on a first-come, first-served basis, so officially you are still 'wait-listed' behind a couple of other members, but some others are still up in the air, so there is still a chance your pic will be included.
So, can I give you firm, definite, absolute 'maybe' for now?
Thanks!

So gentlemen, any updates on this?

I happen to be in front of my computer working on the photos right now. I've had countless computer problems.
Fierofool says he wants the calendar done Right vs. Right Away, but I will try to do both before Mrs. GTB and I hit the High Seas this Friday. If I don't get it done, I even plan to take the unfinished matls along on a thumbdrive and if I can track down a computer with Photoshop on-board, I will attempt finish them in-between my many, many planned siestas.
Tha Driver has done an heroic effort, but has Paint Shop Pro to work with vs. Photoshop, and just can't do the minute-level polishing up that I would like to see, so as soon as I get those done, the cover, and the captions... off to the printer it will go!
Even if the calendar doesn't get finalized before we leave, it still can't get printed until just before the Jan 14 mtg anyway.
So, when the Mrs. and I return, it WILL get finalized one way or another!
I must say, just to taunt you, it does look absolutely stunning so far!
Best wishes to everyone for a safe and enjoyable Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The final price will be about $18 or $20. I've always been a little conservative when spending the club's money. On everything I've purchased for resale, I've tried to make a profit for the club. Tshirts, EGR adapter kits, etc. So, I usually don't purchase more than people have committed for. A previous member ordered some 50-60 RFTH shirts when history showed that we had only been selling about half that. We took a big loss, since we only make a few dollars a shirt. It only took 3 remaining shirts to eat up our profit.
If Don and Pat want, we can order extra calendars, though
-
we should only order as many as people are requesting, we could get stuck with a bunch of left overs

I agree. Or maybe order one or two extra at most and see if we can advertise them as club merchandise on our website and see if they sell?

Don't forget me... I want one...
Did the pics of the cars change much from the earlier posted ones? I remember you said they were not finalized... almost missed this as the darn notify was not on ::) oops

Only real changes have been taking out parking lot stripes, removing tree limbs that seem to grow out of the roof, and other 'distractions.'
Oh, yes; and I re-colored yours pink with Hello Kitty! decals on it.
But, other than that.... ;- )
JK- yours looks good, as do the rest of them.
That said; guess what? I was thrust immediately back into 13-14 hour work days upon our return, and hope to finish everything this weekend so I can meet FieroFool at the Overhaulin' and get them to the printer. So, if I DON'T show at WhoDeanie's it's because I will chain myself to the PC this weekend to finish!
Best,

So did the chain came in place or did you make it to Dean? ;D

Not only did the chain stay in place, but Nancy came down VERY sick, and I was running to the CVS, etc.

Oh man that sucks. Hope she's feeling better and you have to make the chain tighter so there is no escape ;D

Are we not going to advertise these on PFF , Yahoo Fiero group, or anywhere else? Seems to me if we don't advertise & sell quite a few of them (& make a few $$$ for the club) the whole process is futile.

Very few PFF people come to our site. There are only maybe 3-6 PFF members that are registered with us, that aren't GFC members. We can have more calendars printed if the word gets out about them. We can just shift the months to begin on the month of their order, but right now we need to get to press with what we have. I'd love it if we could spark that kind of interest in the club by people outside it. So far, the only people who've ordered calendars are those who have cars in it.

Since we can get next-day turnaround on printing even single copies, so I see no need to front the money to 'stock up' on speculation. We can practice JIT ("Just-in-time" delivery) and have them printed as they are ordered. After all, it's these speculative marketing practices that brought Wall Street to its knees. Here at the Georgia Fiero Club global headquarters, we practice fiscal conservatism. ;- )

If you'll give me the paypal address for the club, I'll post in PFF & Yahoo & any other Fiero forums I can find & maybe we can get some pre-paid orders (if that's OK with the other club members).

Pat would need to set up a link in the Club Merchandise section. Selling them outside the club would require that we raise the price to about $25. By the time we pay for the calendar, plus sales tax, plus postage, we might break even at $20. As it is, we're making less than $3 per calendar.
-
Oh well. Considering most calenders sell for around $10, I doubt many folks would pay $25 for one.

We would have to get orders in the dozens, if not the hundreds, to cut the price by 50% (to approx. $10).

Less posting, more working!
;D
Just couldn't resist

I have a friend (Andrew) that wants one at $20. He has paypunks if you send me a link via email I can send it to him.
You can email me at ImThaDriver at yahoo.
I still think a PFF post would get several takers at $20.

Fine. Fine! That's all I am to you, is a... a... Photoshopper. I never get to have ANY fun. You go on out and play with the other kids while I toil away! Fine.
I think I'll just go back and start right now, adding that Hello, Kitty! motif to your Fiero!
Fine.

Paul, I will add a calendar for your friend. We can work out payment later.
-
We expect to have the calendars at the meeting, tomorrow. Be there and bring your payment. We've ordered a few extra, so those who didn't advance order and want one, it's first with the money, first served.

hallelujah ;D

We have the calendars in hand and they look great. Tim and Paul did a great job in laying this out. We ordered 4 extra, so if there's anyone who didn't place an order or wants an extra one, contact me.

PM sent.
-
Just 3 remaining calendars.
-
Charlie,
Earlier in the thread, I posted that I wanted two, but if there is enough demand, let my 2nd go to... whomever.
If it doesn't sell, I'll still get it.
Edit - sent payment for the one, thru Paypal.
-
The 3 remaining excludes your 2nd one.
-
I'll take one. Can I send the check to Charlie?
-
Robbie, check your email.
-
I have one of my calendars on my wall at work, and, with it open like that, there isn't a thing on it saying where it's from. On next year's calendar, we need Georgia Fiero Club on each page!
-
Good point!

-
You got that I want one, but can't attend a meeting till feb? Do I need to paypal the $ in advance?

Either way you want to do it would be good.

I'll have the calendars at the meeting, tomorrow. I think there's about 3 extra.
Who's paid but haven't gotten theirs yet?
-
Need some help with a link that will give me a way to pay for my calendar through paypal. Or I can pay at the next meeting... This time i will be there! No more cheer on Saturdays till the next big competition in April!
-
You can go to
Admin@gafiero.org and make the payment or just wait until the next meeting. I'll bring the calendars again.
OOPS!
-
That email is admin@gafieroclub.org.

We have 4 2012 Georgia Fiero Club calendars left.
Ten dollars each, anyone?
-
Did anyone else get a Georgia Fiero Club Calender that doesn't have photos and pages for the months of November and December?
-
How did the final result look?
-
It came out very well.
-
Do you still have it? I looked through the thread, but never saw an image.
I know how a calendar looks, but read about hours and hours of time.
-
I think I have 2. At least 1.
