Title: Another Road Atlanta Day
Post by: Fierofool on September 21, 2011, 07:02:06 pm
Some at RFTH 16 voiced interest in getting on a race track.  Road Atlanta is offering another Professional Driving Xperience (PDX) in concert with Atlanta Region SCCA.  I believe it will be on Nov. 6.

This event gives you an experienced instructor sitting beside you.  There are no pace cars, though theoretically, you're limited to 95MPH and you can only pass when instructed to by the car you're overtaking.

You get about 40 minutes track time.  There are 2 20 minute sessions.  The first is critiqued by your instructor and the track staff.  The second is to take that critique and improve your abilities.  It's right up there with RFTH and you don't have to worry about the leaf lookers and crotch rockets.

Check it out at:      http://www.atlantascca.org/pdx.html   I'll be there again.

I was going, but I think I have a bad ball joint in the front of the car.  Haven't had the money/time to replace it.  Then on top of that, Melanie is bed-ridden today with a flare up of Rheumatoid Arthritis in her hands, wrists, hips and knees, so I've been here with her all day.

That is a lot of fun.  You can really get out there and find out what you and your car can do without the restrictions and dangers of being on a public highway.  Maybe we can have a club event at the spring PDX.

Did you meet Bill Dillashaw?  He's the head SCCA guy and raced a Fiero up until last year.

I met him -- He was the head instructor who signed all the log books.
