So I want to go to the Xmas part tomorrow but the timing is off in my 86 gt 2.8. Is there any chance someone could.bring a timing light with then and help set the timing on this thing? That would be the deciding factor for me to come to the party cuz I don't wanna drive a whole lot. We got the timing close be ear listening to the engine but want to set it the right way before I do extensive driving plus won't have the money for a light till Wednesday :(

I have a light and a distributor wrench. When you set the timing, did you jumper the ALDL terminal before starting the engine? If you didn't your efforts had little to no effect.
-
yeah...we didnt...well guess that proves why it didnt do much lol but, also just found i have a coolent leak after doing lower intake manifolds. Looks like its coming from the thermostat housing we think one of the bolt that hold it down is stripped so it wont fully tighten down...which really sux lol

Ok cool and would you mind helping me out with this say if i come a little early to the show? Sry if im sounding needy...

I'll be there early, but I won't have time. We're having a meeting of the directors before the party. I'm only about 10 miles east of you, so if you want to come over here around noon, we could set it.

I work 10 to 3 any chance that will work out? I can come right over after I get off work if that's ok? My work is litteraly down the road from my house. Give me a call at 678-570-6809 anytime before 10 if you do. But I would greatly appreciate your help.

thx alot for all the info! once i get paid wednesday i will be buying parts and fixing all the little things. Im also planning, if i have the money, to get a set of plugs and wires also an air filter just so know everything is good on this thing.
-
I thought the plug wires looked good when we set the timing, though I wasn't really looking closely and inspecting them. When you get your plugs, don't be tempted to get things like twin fire or platinum or anything fancy. The Fiero works best with the recommended AC R42CTS plugs. Be sure to set the gap on them at 0.045 ". Don't trust the setting from the box since the plugs are used in many different vehicles with different gap requirements.

the only reason i thought about replacing my wires is because one night i had the hood open and i saw spark coming from the wire from the coil to the dist cap looked like it was grounding on the metak bracket the coil bolts to. Also once the car wouldnt start and i pulled on the #1 wire to check the plug and the wire came right out of the boot on it...so figured id juts buy a new set so i know for a fact they are new lol

With that bit of info, Yep, I'd say to replace them.
