So bit by bit I'm tweeking the indy... I wanted to do a small reversible mod, but I have not messed with one of the fiero horn buttons before... so i could use some guidence from those who have. :D
First... I remember on my firebird the horn button was a pull off and pop back on. Is it so with the fiero? Anything to watch out for? Are they interchangeable with any of the round style (fiero/firebird)? So If I wanted to use a horn button from an 84 Firebird... would it interchange?
Next... See the indy logo in the cover of this pic I borrowed...

How hard is it to take the logo/badge out and put it back in? I don't want to hurt my indy one. I want to take my indy logo/badge out and put it in the 84 Fierbird horn button and put that horn button in the car.
Here is the horn button I want to use and put my indy horn badge in it. Found one like this for sale from a parted out 84 anniversary car. Guy has been trying to sell it for over a year...

The dove will love AWESOME with the indy dove steering wheel IMO... GM should have done it that way!
Thank you!

Everything is the Previous owners fault ;)

I was thinking that the horn button was "push and twist" to fasten or remove.
I'm pretty sure it's the same as the Firebird, however.
-
Well just the vinyl cover then... Firebirds had 3 metal clips on teh back that locked onto the face... maybe that was a older 3rd gen thing... my bird is an 87....
-
Hmmm... sounds like I will experiment on a junk yard one if I can find it...
So if the horn button istelf will transfer... Worst case get the dove Firebird one and have Fiero Sails make me a Sticker to go over the Firebird one... :D
Put the indy one up for safe keeping :D

i've popped a lot of those plastic shields out of the rubber horn buttons and popped them back in with no problem.

My researching I posted on Pennocks...

maybe a bird one can go on the fiero but not vice versus as the electrical tab is missing?
Maybe is this Fiero only for the horn activation

do all fiero have this?
dont think the bird had it... see it has this electical line that attaches to the tab...

i must have missed something, exactly what are you trying to accomplish? you want to use a firebird horn cap instead of a fiero horn cap?
-
sorry... and yes... I want to use the dove one from the 84 firebird anniversary car (pic) and transplant my Indy badge into it!

The Fieros with a round horn button all have that little black plastic thing. That's the horn contact that touches the back of the button when you press it. If you can take a picture of your Firebird button, placing a ruler between 2 of the attachment fingers on the back so we know the span, I'll do the same with my Fiero button when I get back from the Polar Bear run. Then we'll have an idea of relative sizes. I'm guessing you don't have that Firebird button you pictured. If you do, why not just snap it onto the Indy and see if it fits?
The embossed Fiero button pictured was an option on the 86 and 87 years, only. It came on the 3 spoke non-leather wrapped wheels.

Yeah I think I will do that... I have a horn button in the attic. I found it when I was cleaning up to see what indy parts I had and what I had that the overhaulin project might could use... Sadly I now realize why I was so dismayed with my indy parts and modded them... They were just that bad that the only help for them was to cover or paint them. So that is why you see my WTB parts list growing... LOL!
Now to find the darn horn button again! Its been SOOO DARN COLD I have not wanted to poke around up there again... LOL!
Funny thing... the badge option with leather wrapping steering wheel was an 87 GTA only thing apparently. GM is SOOO weird with that stuff!
