General Fiero Discussion / Fiero Rescue
« on: November 01, 2015, 09:18:13 pm »

F85gtron and I picked up an '87 Fiero rescue and some spare parts yesterday.

It's slightly infested with lizards and 3.4L'ers.  The wasps were evicted by the previous owner just before we moved the car.

As you can tell from the photos, f85gtron couldn't wait to start working once it was pushed on the trailer:  https://plus.google.com/photos/101244603559962497427/albums/6212335626585613409?authkey=COTZ94f__Nj51AE

The Market / WTB - Cheap, running V6 Fiero
« on: October 13, 2015, 08:40:29 am »
It's not for me.

A friend at work is looking for a cheap, running V6 Fiero for his military son to drive.  Eventually, this will turn into my friend's Fiero.  Then it will be "upgraded".

For now, the car just needs to work and be fairly inexpensive.

General Fiero Discussion / Mule Day - Washington, GA - Oct 10, 2015
« on: October 06, 2015, 04:31:08 pm »
Mule Day (really) is held at Callaway Plantation.  It's actually a lot of fun with food, crafts, mules, and a very small car show.  Maybe 10 vehicles.  I asked if my '88 GT was welcome and they said yes.  Not so my wife's 2011 Mustang.

Soooooo, if you want to show off your Fiero, arrive at Mule Day by 0930.

I probably won't make it this year, but from experience I can tell you it's fun.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Air Conditioner A/C noise
« on: August 27, 2015, 09:47:47 pm »

When I switch from A/C to Vent or any other setting there is a noise that sounds like a bunch of gears spinning, rotating, and flipping doors around.  Seems like all Fieros make this noise when switching settings.

What can be done to reduce this noise?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Securing cover on Alt/Oil gauge cluster
« on: August 23, 2015, 10:21:23 pm »

I replaced the housing of my battery/oil pressure gauge cluster with one found during our Fiero stripping party.  Mine use to be held on by velcro, gravity, and the plug... which didn't work so well when taking corners quickly.  Especially if the cluster was acting as part of the cup-holder system.

My question is how to make the soft cover from the old housing adhere with a better than factory look?  Peeling away has a certain charm in a 30 year old car (OK, 27), but it's not the look I'm after.

Any ideas?  Any products?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Cracked Spoiler Repair
« on: August 23, 2015, 10:08:25 pm »

Noticed my spoiler was a bit loose so I went to tighten it down.

Then I saw it was cracked, just like in these photos:

https://plus.google.com/photos/101244603559962497427/albums/6186393100027143249

Any repair suggestions?  Specifically, what products should I use?

Thanks.

Club News / Warrior Project Wrap-up
« on: August 11, 2015, 09:11:25 pm »

The car's delivered, our Veteran is happy, we can all pat ourselves on the back, then sit down and drink a beer...

But a few questions remain and a few thoughts should be aired.  I'll stimulate the discussion with this question:

What did we (meaning the Georgia Fiero Club) do right, what did we do wrong, and what should we considering modifying if there is ever a "next time"?

Consider this a place to post lessons learned for the next time anyone undertakes a year-plus long project.
