Charlie's '86 comes to mind.

This is a thread I started on Pennocks, a few years ago.

http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/130123.html

Paraphrased...
My question was "How can bad motor mounts affect the handling of a car whose suspension is otherwise in good condition?
The wheels are driven through CV axles. The position of the engine should have no bearing upon how the wheels are aligned."

The answer was that "Bad mounts will allow the engine to move around. That much weight, shifting around, especially in a turn, can cause the car to do funny things."

I bring this up, because I had to go to Tammy's mom's, yesterday for a family pow wow. Since I didn't get to come to the meeting, I decided to salvage the day, and drive the Fiero down to her place. I ended up breaking a motor/tranny mount. (Haven't got under the car, yet, to determine which one(s), but I could definitely feel the engine moving around. Not my first time at this rodeo.)
I noticed that the car seemed a bit less solidly planted than it normally does, so maybe there's something to this.

The Market / Paul Angel. The Warrior car...
« on: June 06, 2018, 09:14:24 pm »
I need the brake proportioning valve. (Has to be from an 88.)
Whatcha gotta get for it? Shipped to 30134.

Thanks!

I have been having an issue with my left front wheel locking up long before the others. I have done all the usual stuff. Checked/replace hoses, calipers, and pads. Bled everything to a fare-thee-well. Etc., etc. I have replaced everything but the master cylinder and proportioning valve.

I was looking for a proportioning valve, when someone suggested that my suspension might be unevenly loaded. If the left front is not holding up its fair share of the weight, it could, theoretically, make the wheel lock up prematurely. (This, in spite of my fat azz being in the driver's seat.)

With that said... I probably should have the car weighed, corner by corner. Lots of race shops are equipped to do this but, unfortunately, I don't know any of them.
Anyone have any suggestions? (I have already heard the suggestion of driving up to the weigh-station scales, when they're closed. Don't really want to try that, just yet.)

The Market / Anyone need headlight buckets?
« on: May 02, 2018, 05:54:18 pm »
Both sides. Includes the buckets, bezels, plastic outer trim, and Silverstar (I think) lamps. Everything from the hinges, up.
Make offer. Mostly just want them gone.
Would prefer not to ship. Can deliver to club meeting or locally.

The Market / Looking for late (87-88) tank.
« on: April 05, 2018, 09:28:52 pm »
Not for me.

Pat Moody (aka handymanpat) is looking for a late (87-88) tank.
I thought I remembered hearing about one that may be... around.

He is willing to pay for shipping.
He is (IIRC) in Texas. He has shipped tanks before. Said that he remembers shipping coming to ~$45, so it shouldn't be too prohibitive. (Yeah... Surprised me, too.)

Edit - Pat also has a crapload of parts for sale or trade, if anyone is interested. Calipers, knuckles, control arms, etc.

Didn't realize how many times I checked the forum every day, until it wasn't there.

The Market / Fiero Tyco Slot Cars
« on: December 05, 2017, 08:41:47 pm »
GTRS mentioned these in another thread.
Rather than hijack, I'll post here.

I was the lucky winner of a pair of (Tyco) Fiero slot cars, but I have come to the realization that I am probably not going to do anything with them, since I don't have a track, or the time to play with them, really. I really hate to see them sit and do nothing, so I'm hoping someone may want them.
I am offering them for best offers or (preferably) interesting trades. Preferably Fiero stuff/parts/memorabilia, but that's not a requirement. (Would love a copy of the Witzenburg book.)

I actually have two pairs of these. Have had the other pair for years. They're essentially identical to the ones pictured, only a lot more dusty, since they've been sitting on the shelf with my Hot Wheels cars. :D I don't remember where they came from.
Same deal. Offers or trades.
I have no idea whether any of these are operational or not, but I don't have any reason to believe that they aren't.

General Discussion / Honda Accord experts?
« on: October 02, 2017, 11:40:47 am »
Car is a 2002 Accord. 212000 miles. 2.3 w/automatic.
Has an "extended shift/slight flare" on the 1-2 shift. Otherwise shifts fine. Fluid does not smell burned. Is this condition likely to get worse? Or will it drive like this forever?
Thanks for any help.

General Discussion / 97 Mazda Miata for sale (SOLD)
« on: June 05, 2017, 05:44:22 pm »
Since the "Market" section is for Fiero stuff only, I thought this would be the best place. (Pat or Charlie, please feel free to move this if there is a more appropriate spot.)
I have a 97 Miata that I would like to sell. Black in color. Paint is shiny. It's in good to very good condition.
Has 106K on the odo. Body is good. No rust. Has a couple of hail dents and the parking lot dings and scrapes you might expect for a '97. Generally looks very nice.
Has cold A/C, power steering and brakes, power windows, and power mirrors. 5 speed manual.
Current emissions, this spring.
New battery.
New top was installed just before I bought it. It's ~9 years old, but has been parked inside almost continuously, since then. No holes or rips. No leaks.
Plastic rear window is still in good condition. Not foggy or cracked. Zips out if desired.
Has brand new Mr.Mikes cloth upholstery (Yeah... Mr.Mike does Miatas too.) with brand new Miata-specific headrest speakers.
(Door speakers are good, but I will also include a brand new pair of replacements.)
Has a Kenwood multimedia receiver with a removable face, USB port and iPod control.
It has black and machined Chapparal wheels (similar to Panasports) as well as the originals. Both sets of wheels have decent tires.
The car is mechanically bone stock and unmolested.

Selling because Tammy got a new one for Christmas. Would like to keep it, but have way too many cars to feed, and not enough room to park them all.
(Some of you may have seen this car. I have driven it to several meetings at the Galaxy, when the Fiero was out of service for whatever reason.)
**SOLD**

You can message me here, or call (or text) seven-seven-oh... three-six-one... seven-9-6-ate. If no answer, please leave message. I'll call you back.

If there's no interest here, I'll post on Pennocks or elsewhere. I'll give it a few days, though.

UPDATE -
Thanks for all the comments. Sold.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Camshaft specs explained

Found this on one of the other groups. May be of interest.

Since the meeting is to be a breakfast meeting, and everyone will be gone from the Galaxy and at the shop long before 1:30, I thought it would be prudent to post here, in case any late comers decide to attend.

Breakfast at the Galaxy is at 10:00. (Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken, or admins just edit my post if you want.)
Afterwards we will adjourn to MikeMac's; aka Northlake Automotive. http://www.northlakeautomotive.com/ to work on the club car.
