The Market / 1986 Fiero GT Available
« on: January 10, 2022, 12:26:59 pm »
I am finding myself falling behind in my ability to keep my Fiero in top condition, as top as it can be without upholstery and a few other touch ups. It runs like a champ. The battery gauge needle has fallen off and fuel gage does not work. I fear the alternator is also going bad. Left headlamp motor is failing and the right does not work. Surprisingly, it also leaks oil lol. The car shows very well considering its age. It is gold with Saddle interior. Doesn't have the correct wheels but it has great tires. I prefer that it goes to someone who loves this specific car. DM me for pictures.

Could a 15x8 rim work on an 86 GT? Would the footprint be too wide to allow the front to turn?

Hi All,

I took my Gold 86 GT last month and it drew a lot of attention. We won’t be able to make it for this month. But January is a maybe and February is a yes. It was a ton of fun listening to people talk about it.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Adhesive questions

My 86 has a nice dash but it’s pulling away from the trim and warped a little. What adhesive is best to bond the loose areas to the framework of the dash?

Hi All,

I need a motor. Doesn't have to be working necessarily but must be repairable. Any help is appreciated.

The Market / Wheels

I am looking for a set of the gray GT wheels for an 86. I may only need a pair if the two in Dallas GA are good. Will the fronts from an 88 work?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Rear Strut Removal
« on: June 10, 2020, 06:54:36 pm »
Hi All,

I finished my Hemi rebuild and am turning back to the 86 GT. I have new struts for the rear. The top nut turns the strut shaft and does not loosen. Any tips on removing it? I have new ones so they don’t have to be reused.

Went to C&O this morning for the first time. Saw ONE Fiero, 88 GT. When I get the grinding rotors thing fixed I may drive mine up for the December show. Gotta represent.

My 86 GT is coughing through the intake when I am cruising at approximately 40 mph. Please say this is not a valve adjustment issue.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Rear Brakes grinding
« on: October 10, 2019, 10:56:52 am »
Hi All,

I have finished with the engine. Now when I test drive I get a very obvious grinding noise from the rear. It could be the parking brake. But how does the parking brake engage the rotor?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Caliper hex bolt stripped
« on: September 19, 2019, 01:35:50 pm »
I have one stripped hex bolt and no success removing it. I cannot bleed the brakes because the bleed screw is stripped. I have a replacement caliper ready to go in. Tired of messing with all the crusty rust all over and in every nut and bolt. Will I need to remove the whole assembly?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Missing Cylinder at idle
« on: September 04, 2019, 09:43:15 pm »
I believe I have a cylinder that is not firing or I am so unfamiliar with a v6 at idle and I am chasing rabbits and squirrels. Timing light shows all 6 are getting coil voltage. Replaced all injectors. Do I pull plug wires like back in the day or is there a better way?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / High Idle
« on: August 20, 2019, 05:34:27 pm »
I have the engine running and even with the ecm jumpered the idle remains high. I think I hear a loud sucking sound from under the intake but I have replaced all of the vaccum lines with steel. There is a tube that is attached to the fire wall that appears to have gone from the breather to the engine. Could that be an issue?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / 86 GT Wheels

I will be searching for a set of GT wheels for my 86 in the near future. I have found a few for around $400 so I am guessing this is typical for a private seller?
