General Fiero Discussion / Re: Brake upgrade
« on: April 30, 2012, 10:47:46 am »
The reason my brakes got so hot was because the track was very crowded so every time I would get up to speed i would have to come to a stop. Im not that bad of a driver haha. I do really like the Grand Am/Seville upgrade. i never really looked at it before because i thought you couldn't get your e-brake to work with it. Also has anyone ever run a cooling duct to the front brakes. I was thinking of running a tube from the blinker to the brakes but i dont know if that would work or not. Any thoughts?

General Fiero Discussion / Brake upgrade
« on: April 29, 2012, 03:52:10 pm »
When i was at the mitty this weekend at Road Atlanta I went on one of the touring laps. By the 4th lap i had almost set my brakes on fire. I've wanted to upgrade my brakes for a while but don't have the big bucks necessary to get the west coast fiero kit. But also wanted to increase the size of the brakes, what are my options?

i ended up getting a s10 brake booster and slotted disks so i hope that does the job but thanks for all the advice.  I should be picking up my car from Whodeanies w/ the new the 3800 sc later this week.

i am getting a 3800sc motor swap by Whodeanies customs next month. My thoughts are will the stock brakes be able to handle the added HP?   i installed 17" wheels and the lower spring kit a year or so ago.

Do you have any recommendations or insights about which kit to use or which way to go,  West Coast has a nice kit by the $$$ is hard to live with.  Then there' the master.  Does that need an upgrade too?

General Fiero Discussion / Getting new rims and tires

I am thinking about getting new rims and tires for my 87 gt. From what i have read on different sites the biggest rims i can fit are 17s in the front and 18s in the back. I was just wondering if there were any rim and tire sizes that work best. I was thinking about getting ASA gt1 rims and Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 tires but i just need to know what sizes work best.

thanks for the suggestions and yes it was stored almost its entire life. The car was stored in a warehouse for 13 years and before that some older lady owned it which in kinda strange.  The car has around 90,000 miles on it.  I've replaced the air intake tube, the shocks and struts.  I've also replaced the speakers and radio.  I have an adapter plate around the radio that lights up which look cool. I did something to the exhaust that i cant legally tell you about. I've replaced the tires w/ Yokohamas and the caliper w/ rebuilt ones.  The things I am thinking about doing to are a bigger throttle body, a hotter cam, computer chip and performance injectors. I am trying to decide whether to do stuff now or save up for a swap next summer.

General Fiero Discussion / Clutch Fluid
« on: February 14, 2010, 06:24:00 pm »
'87 GT 5 speed.  I found my trans hard to get in gear and my clutch master cylinder empty.   Where did the fluid go? when my dad and I bled the clutch according to the haynes manual it only made matters worse. We did make sure the bleeder was closed when we let off the pedal and that the reservoir didn't empty.  Now there is no feel to the pedal.  Any suggestions???
