There's this stuff that they inject directly into your eyes that's supposed to slow down the progression of the degeneration, but the retina specialist I saw did not recommend it because it is new, and there have been reports of people going blind after the injections. So I'm not going to do that.

General Discussion / Farewell Dragon
« on: October 11, 2024, 12:57:01 pm »
I don't know if any of you know, but I am gradually losing my sight due to macular degeneration. The other day, I took a "Medicare wellness physical", and part of it was an eye test. With my right eye, I could not clearly see even the big letters on the top row. I can still see a few rows down with my left eye, but it's getting worse too. So I am saying goodbye to RFTH and will not be going any more.

I may actually have my yellow Fiero on the road by then, but unfortunately I have two appointments on that day, so I can't come.

That might be a fun engine to put in my t-top duke car. But it"s an 88, so I'd have to put it on my 88 cradle.

I used to have a first class commercial radiotelephone license years ago, so I could probably remember enough stuff to get a ham license. but if they still require you to learn Morse code I'd have t,o learn that. And I'd have to buy equipment, too.

General Discussion / Re: Pat's Birthday
« on: September 17, 2023, 11:50:31 am »
My birthday wound up being a good day, because my girlfriend Janice flew home from visiting relatives. But it was a struggle for her because the trains and elevators were broken at the airport. I can't imagine how bad that would be if it happened on a holiday weekend. She said it was very crowded with everyone trying to walk to baggage claim. But the day ended well for us.

Will it have to go on a frame machine to straighten the lower mounting point?
If I can't straighten it myself, which I intend to attempt.

I took the upper control arm out of the car. Now you can really see how smashed it is. The mount for it is undamaged. That's understandable since it is part of the spring socket, which bears the entire weight of that corner of the car, and is quite strong.
