The Market / Re: 88 parts car
« on: January 14, 2019, 02:29:01 am »
I had no luck looking into a replacement tranny. I accidently picked up one from a Cavalier that wont work for this engine. I heard with these cast iron blocks it's really easy to break the case on the left hand starter bolt side. With that weird angle it has. I'll try thoes heli-bolts and hope this transmission holds up. Unless someone has a 5 speed they would trade or sell.

The Market / 88 parts car
« on: January 13, 2019, 01:12:20 am »
Anyone interested in an '88 parts car? I originally got it with the understanding it didn't need much work to get it up and running. Mostly a few parts for the tranny. As I've gotten into it I've relised the 3.4 block is garbage for a Fiero,.the starter holes are stripped. The FWD tranny is pretty beat up. Other than thr engine and tranny it seems like a pretty solid car. No a/c or power options.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: Help on IDing this transmission
« on: December 21, 2018, 05:17:37 am »
It's not at my place, no room but I'll ask my buddy to take pics of it tomorrow. Does anyone know if the fork barrings, the 2 inside, from the Fiero store will work in the FWD Getrags? I can't seem to find any specifically for the FWD application.
Thanks.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Help on IDing this transmission

Can anyone help me ID this transmission? It's a FWD that came in an '88 I'm trying to get up and running. No tags or any identifying numbers on it.

The Market / Re: Thinking about selling one
« on: March 09, 2018, 01:31:16 am »
I think the value really depends on who's looking for what at the time and how quickly you want to sell the car. I sold a a fresh 3800SC swap with 1,200 miles on a rebuilt motor, a upgraded cam, injectors, a new Spec 3+ clutch, Power Log, Modular Pulley, custom exhaust, Grand AM brake upgrades, 17" wheels, and a bit more for about $4,000. If you can hold onto it for a bit I'd say you'll have more luck not selling it on a Fiero based website, where people really know values. Maybe Craigslist.

The Market / Feelers on a 3800SC swapped '86
« on: May 22, 2017, 11:40:11 pm »
I think the time might be coming for me to get rid of my 3800SC swapped '86.
I'm putting feelers out to see if there is any interest before I post on Pennock's.
Swaps been done for awhile and I just don't have the time to drive it enough.

1986 White Fastback / Grey interior
Fresh rebuild and bore on a 3800SC engine (just shy of 1200 miles on it)
ZZP VS Cam( I think or XP I'll have to double check)
60 Lb Deka Injectors
3.4 Modular Pulley
Ported and polished blower
4 Speed Muncie
Initial tune done by Ryan(he said to give it 3000 miles before trying to final tune it)
Spec 3 Clutch
ZZP Powerlog
Custom Flowmaster exhaust (cut trunk)
Grand AM brake upgrade
17" Wheels
Boost Gauge( will need some fiberglass work to install the pod)
Rebuilt headlights - Dickman kit and swapped motors.
AC and heat connected and work.
This build was done by someone who's done at least 1 3800NA and I think 2 other 3800SC builds.

There are a few issues -
The tach sometimes freezes and get stuck at 0 RMP - as well as the temp gauge, untill you hit a bump or hit it a few times. (Have 2 - 120MHP clusters I'll include both I think work well)
Phantom wiper ( have another steering column I will include)
It could use tires and needs an alignment
Can't think of any more at the moment, if anyone has questions just ask.

Have another set of headlights, taillights, front and rear formula bumpers.

Can't do pictures right now I'll have to do it tomorrow after work if there is interest.
If anyone was at the north GA meet where we met at a Sonic should remember the car.
Asking $5500 OBO. Could work on price if someone from the club is interested.

The Market / Re: WTB Metal Heater Core Lines.

That's what I've done. Put rubber hose double clamped. I just don't know if that's a long term fix. Anyone have experience using rubber hose on those lines?

Still looking pulled a set that had rubber hose on it. The other one I looked at was cracked. I only need the larger one 5/8 I think. Let me know if anyone has some preferred closer to Atlanta.
Thanks.

It was from an '86 v6 but have swapped a 3800sc. I tried emailing TopNotch since Lawrenceville is only a few miles from me but haven't heard anything else from him. I emailed Paul but if that falls through I'll be making a trip to the Augusta Pull-a-Part.

One of my metal heater core lines cracked. This is literally the last thing I need to finish up my swap. Anyone have a set of these available for sale? If not looks like I'll be making a treck down to Pull-a-Part in Augusta this weekend.

The Market / WTB Getrag 5 speed
« on: May 07, 2015, 09:28:26 pm »
Anyone happen to have an extra Getrag 5 speed for sale? A buddy of mine had his go out a few days ago and has no interest in going 4 speed or upgrading to the G6 6 speed.
