Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: V8 swap?
« on: June 15, 2018, 09:29:34 pm »
I'm going to be using the stock getrag with 70k miles on it. From the research I've done the common consensus seems to be the f40 is the way to go. I will probably go that route down the road but for now will stick with the getrag. V8 Archie says the getrag will hold up pretty well. I don't intend to be beating on it much. That might change when I can stab the v8 however. 😁

From what I understand the frame needs to be cut there.

Gearing up to do a sbc 350 carb swap. Engine is currently being rebuilt and kit from Archie's has been ordered. Has anybody here done this swap? Any crazy things I should look out for or be aware of?

Unplugging the sensor has no effect. Unplugging the fan switch also has no effect. Pulling the fan relay fuse DOES stop the fan.

Correct. One for the interior gauge is housed by the coil, the other is by the thermostat housing.

I have an 87 gt v6. When I turn the key on the fan comes on. I have replaced the fan relay, fan switch, and the temp sensor. I have also checked to make sure someone along the way hadn't hot wired it. Any suggestions as to what might be the issue. Much appreciated

I had the same issue. It was the alternator.

Hey everybody! Does anyone have any experience with the Cadillac 4.9 swap? Going and buying a whole donor car for $500 this weekend and would like to get started on the swap next month. Need someone's brain to pick!

Temp gauge all the way left and pointed at the roof of the car with the key on, engine off. I ran Ron's test and got no joy from the light or gauge

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / High idle

Hi all
Been a while since I've been on here. Making some headway on the car. Brakes have been completely rebuilt and are functioning as they're supposed to. Got most electrical gremlins sorted no longer killing batteries. Have replaced all temp sensors but still have no temp reading on the dash. Fixed the fan switch so the fan doesnt run constantly. Replaced the oil pressure sender but still no reading on the dash. Have gotten the engine firing first time, every time. Found a massive vac leak coming from the egr, replaced the gaskets, held my tongue just right, started the engine aaand the extreme high idle is now a sort of high idle with seeking rpms. Going to replace the   iac valve and tps, see if that fixes the problem. Want to make it out to one of the meetings in the car as soon as its road worthy. Hope everybody is having as much fun as I am ;)
