Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: IAC control input
« on: March 10, 2025, 08:11:33 am »
You guys know so much anything I throw out there would be a wild guess.  That said, the worst running situation with a fluctuating idle where I had to hold down the accelerator to make it run/start at all was when the coolant temperature sensor went bad.  Apparently it was telling the ECM it was -40*F outside and dumping in tons of fuel.  Scott helped me diagnose it after I messed with the IAC/distributor/TPS trying to figure it out on my own.

Supposed to be really bad today with high wings and tornadoes.  Though weather prognostication is indeed often incorrect.  We'll see, I canceled and rescheduled a V8 event this past year and it turned out to be a nice but grey day.

Merry Christmas everyone.  Santa brought me a few new vintage license plates for my garage wall.

I am in unless it is a monsoon.  I will be heading up 19N leaving Chamblee around 8am and arriving at AMP around 9am.  Drivers meeting is only at 940 and roll out at 10am and my co-pilot needs her beauty sleep.

18 years ago we were in a very bad wreck caused by a ladder blowing out of the bed of a pick-up, the car next to us swerved, lost controll and took us head on into a Jersey wall at 60+.  I still will not get anywhere near a truck with ladders or junk in the back.

working down in Mobile at the museum this week and returning home late Friday.  Depending on how exhausted I am and how my back feels I will drive up Saturday early morning.  Playing it by ear for now.

V8 club cookout, and I'm the cook.  Possibly I can make one before the end of the year.

Went once years ago on accident, didn't know it was going on.  Lots and lots of cars.  Someday I will go on purpose.

Tomorrow and Monday are services for Scott.  I was intending to attend tomorrow, if just for a little. Certainly going to drive the Formula.   Anyone else intending on going?

Car is ready and I'm booked at the hotel.  Charlie let me know how much I owe to the club.  Is there a meet up on Friday to roll up together?

Still hoping to come but working down in the Gulf the days before and running out of time but looks promising.   Been fixing stuff one after another trying to get ready.   Just lost the passenger side rack bushing and have one on order from Rodney, should be here in time.  Last thing to fix I believe.   I checked and rooms are still available through all the major hotel sites.

Try a laser thermometer to be sure of the temps you are reading.  Even a cooking one can be put between the radiator fins to check.   You can check at any point along the system looking for hot and cool spots.  Fiero's have been known to get air bubbles in the system when the radiator has been opened, possibly one occurred or moved to an undesirable spot.
