How much is this 86 worth?

The owner said 400-450HP, not at the wheels.  That strikes me as way too high.

It's looks to be in very good condition, in the pictures.  You certainly couldn't build the car for that price.  The 350 V8 in various stock forms had from about 240 to around 370 crank horsepower.  Big block 350's were likely higher.  The 350 is easily hopped up with lots and lots of aftermarket goodies.  The valve covers on that engine makes me think it might be a big block, but it's been a long long time since I've been into a Chevy engine compartment.  I'm probably wrong on my guess as to the big block.

I sent John an e-mail. 

Spoke with the owner today.  Said something like 400-450HP at the crank, but was guessing.  Since he didn't build it I didn't know how much faith to put in his estimate.  Sounds like a ridiculous amount.

BTW, I'd like to point out I was not driving when the F-250 hit.

I forgot that this is Fiero Datona Weekend.  John is one of the main people for the event, so he's probably tied up with that.

That's a nice car! Very nicely done. It's quite probably worth what he's asking, if that's what you want.
It looks like a small block to me. Center bolt valve covers became the norm after 86-87 or so.
It's a TPI, which is great for torque, but not so great for maximum HP. BUT... It's also an aftermarket TPI (by looking at the siamesed runners) so it's probably quite a bit better than stock. Probably not much more than 300-350 HP at the crank.
 Freddy Clark had the "nastiest" TPI I had ever seen, and it didn't make much more than that.
Still... In a Fiero? Would have to be pretty scary.

Engine is L-98 TPI. In 1989 Corvette they were 245 HP in Coupe and 240HP in Convertible. Car looks very nice, I would like to have it but finances will not allow it.
