Daily driver, very minimal racer...once every two-three months or so.  I was wondering about that. Seems like aluminum wouldn't hold up, unless it's constantly stressed. I guess it works because of the constant preload?  Idk. I've FINALLY made up my mind.....Ok, so steel roller tips, it is!  I'm going in!

You might can find full roller rockers in steel. I know they make them for big block chevy engines, because that's what I have on my duke (and I have 8 spares since it's a 4).

Edited to add:  can you measure your extras and post dimensions?  I'm curious about width and height.

My rockers would be too big for a 2.8. They would most likely also be too big for a stock duke valve cover, but I have a super duty 4 valve cover on the engine.
What dimensions do you want?

There may be slober on your screen, as i am drooling on that photo of your motor!  Those look like the rockers i wasllooking at from KMJ. I called them and they said they probably would not fit. Bummer. I was most interested in the width at the pivot fulcrum and also the width at the rod seat. Those, and the hight measured from fulcrum to polylocks top.

Well, the car is back together, and I'm driving it every day. So I'll probably have it at the next club meeting. The SD4 valve cover has a top cover that can be removed for valve inspection, so maybe I'll take it off so you can take a look, if you are at the next meeting (after it cools for a little while, of course).

Thanks. I'll be up the 31st. I don't think I'll make it back again for the meeting. Although, me and Pgackerman are WAY OVERDUE to attend.

.....................................

Someone also said they had to put 2 valve cover gaskets on and another etched out his valve covers where the rockers hit.

I see Riddick & McGuiver gave you some solutions.  Instead of 2 gaskets, it was the laser cut spacer and a gasket.

I've run into a road block. I purchased a set of crane cams 1.6 roller tipped rockers through summit racing and the nuts and balls where shipped 3/8".....too small!  HOW DISAPPOINTING. On a good note, i called summit, and they've FedEx'd a new set...hopefully with the correct 10mm hardware. Ugh!  :'(

Give us a write-up and some pictures of what you're doing.

10/4. I'll take pics and write this up.
A new box of roller tipped rockers, pushrods and TEN mm balls and nuts showed up on my door step last night, as promised!  I test fitted the nuts and balls just to make sure. I'm VERY excited to get this thing back together!

The install is going well. I've almost got it back together. The exhaust porting and cover-intake painting took a lot of time. The only thing that concerns me is when i was adjusting the valve rockers, they didn't feel quite right. I may have a collapsed lifter or two. I guess I'll find out when i crank it up!
